Miniturisation and multitasking are in fashion, so it seems. Look at BMX, 5 years ago, we used to film with huge VXs, and then digital arrived. Like Alex Valentino told me after the contest “We’re gonna start filming with smartphones soon!”. Flashback, to last year, when you look at the video quality on smartphones which keeps on getting better and better, imagine a video contest a bit like the Nike Standby Barcelona, which got 6 duos together for a few days, composed of a rider and a cameraman, who’s aim was to film the best video part possible. From this simple but yet obvious idea was born “Sosh Urban Motion”, first edition. Firstly, a “Wild Card“ contest was organized. Winners were the duo Montanari/Bricard. They went off to join 5 other duets end of April, made up of the best street riders and cameramen in the country, for a 3 day weekend, filming everything they could whilst trying to avoid the pouring rain! As for the conditions, one could say that Sosh spoiled us rotten : what with the smartphones that were handed out to all the participants, VW combis sporting the colors of the event and the sick apartment in Paris where we all stayed, we couldn’t have asked for better! You’ve seen the results, absolutely amazing stuff... Thanks to the riders and to those who filmed them, and a big thanks to Sosh !
