L’Urban & Water Contest est une série de 3 compétitions BMX, Skate puis Wakeboard que 11 étudiants de mon école de commerce et moi-même avons organisé. On a essayé de créer une équipe regroupant des étudiants qui ont des compétences bien différentes afin d’organiser au mieux ce projet. La première étape a donc été le contest de bmx organisé au Palais Omnisports de Marseille. A l’origine, le contest avait été prévu au bowl de Marseille mais après un refus à cause du nombre d’évènements très rapprochés au bowl, nous avons été contraints de le faire au Palais Omnisports. Mais cela n’a rien changé au fait que le résultat était vraiment celui qu’on attendait, un contest entre amis sans pression avec plein de lots à gagner et un bon petit price money. L’équipe entière tient à remercier l’implication de Philips qui a pratiquement sponsorisé entièrement cet évènement, ainsi qu’au shop Live2ride, Carrefour City, Toads distribution et les autres sponsors qui ont rendu cet évènement possible. De nombreux amateurs étaient de la partie et beaucoup d’entres eux nous ont impressionné par leur évolution. Beaucoup de styles différents avec des touches d’originalité comme des cliffhangers rentrés à la perfection par Freddy qui ride que depuis 3 mois ! Le podium amateur constitué de 1er Vincent Michaud, 2ème Tanguy Labertrande et 3ème Olivier Cioffi nous a vraiment étonné, des tricks propres, techniques, originaux tout en y ajoutant une touche d’amplitude. En pro, Thibault Bulliot nous a surpris en se plaçant à la troisième position en rentrant des 540 to footjam à la perfection. Didier Debouze comme à son habitude se place sur le podium marseillais en prenant la 2ème place en mode compétition tout en y ajoutant la touche «StarLight» pour mettre le feu au palais. Pour la première place, il a décidé de changer son billet d’avion à la dernière minute alors qu’il était en trip en Angleterre pour venir nous retourner le palais avec des lignes dont lui seul a le secret. Le moustachu Justin Fouque n’a donc pas fait le déplacement pour rien. Je tenais à remercier l’ensemble des riders qui nous ont aidé pour juger ce contest, le célèbre Steve Magro qui a speaké toute la journée à la Steve Crandal. Cette étape du contest UWC a vraiment été un évènement comme on l‘avait espéré, réunissant le plus de riders possibles présents pour passer une bonne journée entre potes.

The Urban and Water Contest is a series of 3 competitions, BMX, Skate and Wakeboard, that me and 11 students from my business school decided to organize. We tried to create a team of students who were all doted with different skills, in order to organize this project the best way possible. The first part was the bmx contest, which took place at the omnisport’s palace in Marseille. In the beginning, the contest was supposed to take place in Marseille’s bowl but after being refused because of the large number of events taking place in the bowl at the same time, we had to hold the event at the omnisport’s palace. Which changed nothing at the end of the day, being as the results were exactly what we were hoping for: a contest between friends, no stress, with lots of prizes and goody bags to be won and good prize money. The whole team would like to thank Philips who sponsored basically the entire event, as well as the Live2ride shop, Carrefour city, Toads distribution and other sponsors who made this event possible. Lots of amateurs were there and most of them amazed us by their development. Heaps of different styles with original touches, such as perfectly placed cliffhangers by Freddy who’s only been riding for 3 months! On the amateur podium, 1st place went to Vincent Michaud, 2nd place Tanguy Labertrande and 3rd place Olivier Cioffi who pleasantly surprised us, with his clean cut tricks, both technical and original with a touch of amplitude. In the pro category, great riding from Thibault Bulliot, arriving at third place with a perfect 540 to footjam. As usual Didier Debouze stood on this podium ‘Made in Marseille’. He came in 2nd place, very competitive, bringing a touch of” Starlight “ which brought the house down. And in first place, the man with the mustache, Justin Fouque, who certainly didn’t waste his time coming. He decided to change his ticket at the last minute whilst on a trip to England to come show us how to kill the lines at the palace as only he knows how. I’d like to thank all the riders who helped us judge this contest, and the infamous Steve Magro who commentated the event all day long in a way that would’ve made Steve Crandal proud. This level of the UWC contest really lived up to our expectations, getting together the most riders possible in order to simply spend a great day between friends.
