On behalf of Fr Bob and the Capital Campaign Committee we would like to thank you for your generous contribution to our “Renewing & Restoration the House of God” Capital Campaign. The restoration project began the week after Christmas and every day we see progress while all the contractors build out the vision that we selected and prayed about as a Parish during the Design Stages of the Project. In the very near future, we will re open the doors to our House of God to celebrate what we embraced three years ago as the Family of St. Boniface Martyr Parish. We were faced with a financial challenge and together with your participation we will see our vision come to life. The Restoration and Renovation are important to each and every member of our Parish, those members before us who built our foundation, those of us here today and those who will be the benefactors of our future. Recently in the mail you received a memorial form to complete. If you pledged $3000 or more, kindly select the item you wish to memorialize. Total Pledges to date : $1,238,642 Balance pending payments $83,262 Pending payments due the last day of each month. Please contact the office 676-0676 or email stbonfinance@gmail.com with questions or concerns. Thank you. The Capital Campaign Committee

Dear Parishioners, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him." Mk 9 :7 Today's gospel offers us a good summary of the Christian life. The mountain experience is what we are doing today as we gather for worship and nourishment. With the eyes of faith we see Jesus in His glory. For us today, it is hidden under the form of Bread and Wine. While the valley, that place where the Disciples had to go back to, symbolizes where we go after today's celebration. We leave here to obey the words of the Father to listen to Jesus and so live out our Christian vocation. The valley can be that place of holiness if we hear the command and take up the cross to follow Jesus in service to others. That's not how a lot of us view holiness, is it? We are so often filled with the many things our lives ask of us daily to accomplish. There is feeding the kids; going to the office or factory; looking for a job; paying our bills. We may be worried about our health; encountering a sadness and the many things that fill our days and nights. But in the midst of all these, Lent still invites us to look beneath the surface of our daily lives to see the place where Jesus is revealed to us. We might not encounter the wonder of those Disciples who saw Jesus transfigured and saw His divinity. Maybe the Father doesn't speak as clearly to us as He did to those Disciples who are told to listen to Jesus. BUT that same God wants us to see the Jesus in our midst. So how can we feel and encounter the presence of Jesus? Let us go back to Sacred Scripture, "This is my Beloved Son, listen to Him." The operative word is “LISTEN.” To desire to follow Jesus is, is of course wonderful, but it takes more then just a desire. We have to know who Jesus is and knowing Him we can then follow. To know what Jesus wants of us we need to enter that place of silence. It is in that place of silence that we can hear and listen to His voice. Lent is a time to block out, or at least push aside the many voices that clamor for our attention. Many of those voices can certainly distract us from listening to Jesus, so the work is to focus. We can only focus if we allow ourselves time of silence during the day. Come away, open the Word and ponder what Jesus is trying to say. It isn't as difficult as it sounds, it just takes time and a desire to listen. Give yourself that gift this Lent, the gift of listening. I also encourage you to take advantage of the gift of healing and forgiveness that is found through the Sacrament of Confession. Come to Jesus and hear His words of forgiveness as He unburdens you of your sins. It can be so freeing and a blessing for the journey. Don't let pride or the Evil One keep you from experiencing God's mercy. In Jesus our suffering Lord, Fr. Bob

SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2015 When you choose to follow God, amazing things can happen. The journey, though, takes faith. It requires listening and surrender; it means recognizing you’re not in charge. You follow in the footsteps of a God who leads. Moments of transfiguration give guidance, while sacrifice challenges and fosters trust along the way. Life isn’t a journey straight to the top. You can find yourself led to the highest of heights by the most unusual of paths. Being able to honestly declare, “Here I am, Lord,” you give God the liberty to take you higher than you ever imagined possible. MONDAY, MARCH 2 Jesus said: “In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.” A version of this Golden Rule exists in all the major world religions—Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism—and the ethical idea dates back to antiquity in Babylon, Greece, China, Egypt, India. In psychology, it is the healthy ability to empathize, necessary to experience compassion—a truly universal rule that each person is required to universally apply. And the more it’s practiced by you, the more it might be practiced toward you. TUESDAY, MARCH 3 FEAST OF ST. KATHARINE DREXEL Her family called her Kate. In girlhood she felt a vocation to the church but balked at obedience. She just couldn’t take orders from a superior who might be “stupid,” she told her spiritual director frankly. Also, life would be dreary if the community consisted of a bunch of “old maidish dispositions.” Kate concluded religious life wasn’t for her: “I hate never to be alone.” The solution was simple. Katharine started her own vigorously active order with a rich contemplative lifestyle, hand-selecting the women she would lead. Follow wise leaders—or become one yourself. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4 Let an exam of conscience be your guide Today is the first day of a novena in honor of Saint Francis Xavier, co-founder of the Jesuits. The novena is modeled on the Spiritual Exercises, and each day includes a focus on your relationship with God as it is really lived. For example, on Day 6, you are encouraged to make an examination of conscience, asking which

thoughts, words, and actions that day you are most proud of and which you regret. Each day, an important tradition is stressed, but always focusing on the life and healing power of Francis Xavier. You can do this without a novena, but this devotion might jump start a deeper life of faith. THURSDAY, MARCH 5 Trees figure prominently in the Bible and often serve as symbols of our faith. Those who first heard the words of scripture—being people living on the edge of the desert—were quite aware of the special care trees require to grow strong and bear fruit: Droughts and floods, weeds and critters, and even the occasional curse from an angry messiah can kill a tree in short order. Care for your faith as you would a sapling. Weed and water and protect it against the elements. And be mindful of the seeds of faith you plant in others. FRIDAY, MARCH 6 Today’s World Day of Prayer is an ecumenical movement begun in the 19th century by Christian women so that they may “meet and pray with each other and [be] reminded to live a reconciling and forgiving life with others. . . . Anyone who wishes to join this movement makes a commitment to spend time in prayer whenever she has a strained relationship with another person and to uphold in prayer others who are victims of jealousy, hatred, violence, and injustice.” This offers a focused and practical way of holding yourself to faith “in deed and not only in word.” Find out more at www.wicc.org/worldday-of-prayer/history-prayer/ SATURDAY, MARCH 7 FEAST OF ST. PERPETUA AND ST. FELICITY In the third century, Felicity and Perpetua were imprisoned in Carthage because of their faith. While there, Perpetua kept a diary. It is one of only a few extant works written by martyrs in the early church who were women. The account conveys Perpetua’s deep trust that the Spirit had not abandoned her and Felicity, but offered strength in the face of hardship and death. The story is part of the long Christian narrative about our God—always present, with us in all circumstances. Pray today with Felicity and Perpetua, reflecting on God’s faithfulness in your life. ©2014 by TrueQuest Communications. Reprinted with permission from TakeFiveForFaith.com.
