Director’s Chair “Wow, what an Americade!” Those are your words, not ours. We introduced more, big changes last year than we have in the past two decades. And, in the words of Sally Fields winning an Oscar, “You liked it, you really liked it!” One of you went so far as to write on our questionnaire, “The best Americade I’ve experienced (and I’ve been coming since 2000).” Our response: Whew. And Thanks!! Great weather certainly helped too. In fact, we’ve had good weather for the past 3 years (sunny and mild most days), proving that the sacrifices we’ve made to the weather god is paying off. We’re sworn to secrecy about what those sacrifices are… Among the most popular changes was the new, centralized layout of the entire event. You could park once, and easily access the Expo, Demos, Americade University, Block Party and the Village. Most of you parked in the reserved free parking within Fort William Henry, which was at the epicenter of all events. Our Expo’s new home got great reviews. It’s now very easy to get to - only a short walk from Fort William Henry! We also added more interesting and unique attractions within the Expo, ranging from Makoto Endo’s incredible live painting, to the classic bike custom fabrication, to the fun photo booths (thank you, Tourmaster). Plan on Americade 2019 offering even more of those fascinating and fun displays. Our rides are the best they’ve ever been. 2 years ago we challenged ourselves to up our game and offer rides better than our already high bar, and you liked what we did. We continue to roll out new tours every year, bringing you to beautiful destinations you wouldn’t find on your own, with excellent meals at a great price. Americade’s first-ever Ride For Kids Charity Ride was a huge success! The “RFK Ride” raised over $15,000 for little kids battling brain tumors - the deadliest form of cancer in children. The 2019 ride should double in size, and will once again take people on a scenic ride from Glens Falls to Lake George. And, the RFK Ride will be a proper parade in 2019, with crowds cheering along the route. Show your support for this cause by riding in the parade for free. And, if you want, you can purchase the RFK package which provides a nice breakfast, lunch and gets you a sweet t-shirt, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Ride For Kids fund. It’s fun and a great cause! So, with Americade being better than ever, we hope you’ll join us in 2019. And remember, if you don’t attend this year, then you’ll just be one year older when you do. See you June 2019! 2018 In Review: Americade 36 was one for the books! We pulled out all of the stops with a ton of new exciting activities along with some Americade fan-favorite classics! Inside these pages, you’ll learn about the Events & Activities that kicked off at Fort William Henry HQ on Monday evening with the Opening Celebration by Rider including a mind-blowing performance from comedian magician Matthew David Stanley. In addition to hosting the Opening Day Events, our headquarters at the Fort William Henry was also the site for many other activities throughout the week: Factory Demo Rides, side-splitting Comedy Shows, the Country Shindig dinner, a Fashion Show of the latest riding gear, Skills Challenges, a VIP Hospitality Tent, Americade University, top notch Stunt Shows, and new this year - Registration Sign In! Attendees were able to enjoy the convenience of picking up their wristbands and goodies and walking out right into the hub of the action. Registration wasn’t the only thing to move this year, Americade’s EXPO relocated adjacent to the Fort William Henry into the Festival Commons space as well as the Beach Road parking lot. This made for a truly one-stop-shop experience at the all-new Americade as you could park your bike once and access everything Americade had to offer in one footprint! The EXPO hosted hundreds of vendors and live entertainment all week as well as a VIP tent to cool off and enjoy a complimentary water and snack. Expo goers were able to enjoy the Vintage Garage again this year as well as witness the incredibly talented artist Makoto Endo’s one-of-a-kind painting technique using ink and chopsticks to paint detailed motorcycle images. Fashion Show

Honda, Indian, Slingshot, Tourmaster, and Yamaha brought the latest in motorcycle fashions for the Fashion Show on Wednesday night.

Ameri-models strutted down the catwalk in their gear, modeling everything from T’s to accessories. The garments were fun to wear, comfortable, stylish, and functional--- all the things riders need when out on the road. At the end of the show, a few lucky attendees won some of the gear they saw on stage!

Skills Challenge Slow & Steady Wins the Race! This rang true during Wednesday’s Skills Challenge in the Fort William Henry’s Demo Area, the only competition where it pays to come in last! Mike Gentile of East Haddam, CT showed his skill during the S-L-O-W Race as he maneuvered his Harley Davidson FLHP over the finish line last. This challenge takes a whole lot of practice and skill to stay upright at these speeds, if your foot hits the ground -- you’re out! Scott & Jessah Fabian of Norfolk, VA showed onlookers what true teamwork can do. They showed off the skill and precision riding required to ride with a passenger who is balancing to place a golf ball on top of the small end of a traffic cone. Their patience and skill paid off with the big win in the Golf Ball Balance Challenge! Congratulations to our winners! If you think you have what it takes to win, sign up next year in the Activities Room in the FWH Conference Center to enter the Skills Challenges!

• Check out the Accommodations Guide on the preceding pages for motorcycle friendly places to stay. • Don’t just call the first few places in the guide; they tend to get called the most because they’re at the top of the list. • Call the Chambers of Commerce (listed below) for recommendations. • Many small hotels don’t open up their reservation system until April, so a call to them then will often have success and a lower rate. • There are many small towns within a 25 minute ride and they tend to have more available space and lower rates. • The list on right of this page estimates mileage from Lake George to each of the towns with participating properties.

Block Party For the FIRST TIME EVER, Americade closed down Canada Street for a 2 day Block Party! We brought in a giant stage and filled it with LIVE music from some of the best bands in the region. Friday Block Party goers enjoyed the musical stylings of Big Sky Country, Kat Wright, & the Mallett Brothers Band. Saturday kicked off with another jam packed schedule of bands including Alana Wyld & Wyld Blu, Sly Fox + The Hustlers, Half Step, Cousin Earth, & Eastbound Jesus. Between sets, folks could enjoy a local craft beer from the beer garden and watch some free world-class stunt shows from the Smage Brother Stunt Show and the Busted Knuckles Stunt Show! While at the block party, people were also able to enjoy the vendor marketplace, games & fun activities to spend the day at the ALL-NEW Americade Block Party! GEICO, the official sponsor of the Block Party, was on site with their Military Tribute Bike designed by Paul Jr. and featured on the hit televsion show American Chopper. 2019 will bring an even better Block Party in its NEW location in the Village. 2018 Give Aways! Every year, thanks to our generous industry partners, we are able to give away thousands of dollars in door prizes to several very lucky attendees. Every registered attendee can win Daily Door Prizes just for BEING at Americade! Daily Door Prizes were donated by EXPO Vendors, Manufactuerers and by local Businesses, Restaurants & Attractions. Cone Course Registered Americaders had an exclusive chance to receive FREE training from some pro riders: Mike Gentile, Rob Naszady, Erica Corley, and Bob Sivori. The Cone Course was set up in the Fort William Henry Demo Area for opportunities throughout the week to help folks work on their riding technique. Instructors demonstrated basic low speed motorcycle control maneuvers (that work on any bike) as they rode through various cone patterns. Participants learned new skills and broke bad habits to become better riders. After the lesson, everybody had the opportunity for a little extra practice on the Cone Course. Fun was had by all, and people loved the sense of accomplishment that came from a few minutes of professional instruction and course time. We look forward to see how far they’ve come by next June!

Americaders packed the tent and FWH lawn overlooking beautiful Lake George, eager to find out who this year’s big winner would be of over $30,000 in prizes! Before the awards, Friday Night Dinner ticket holders enjoyed a brand new menu including Chicken Piccata, Roast Sirloin, Roasted Pork Loin and a slew of mouth watering sides to fill their plates. Friday Night was also home to People’s Choice Judging. Spectators were able to see and vote for some of the best bikes of the week. This year’s winner was William Ruth of Pittsburgh, PA with his “Gettysburg Tribute” 2008 1800cc Honda Gold Wing & Trailer. Other winners from events throughout the week also received their awards on Friday. This included the AMA and Non-AMA Poker Run winners, Decorative Lighting People’s Choice, Longest Distance to Americade, Oldest Rider & the Amazing Ride. The final grand prize of the night was a brand new 2018 Indian Scout Sixty and folks were on the edge of their seat as a winner was picked from the sea of drawing tickets. Larry Cramton of Stillwater, OK was the big winner of the night, smiling ear-to-ear as he joined Americade Director, Christian Dutcher, on stage to claim his prize. Following the prizes, the AudioStars - one of the BEST bands in NY - rocked the house while spectators awaited the start of the traditional Friday Night fireworks over Lake George. Those lucky enough to get a ticket aboard the Fireworks Cruise on the MinniHaHa enjoyed an up close view of the spectacular pyrotechnic show. See the next page for a full list of Awards handed out and lucky prize winners! If you want your chance to join the ranks of the winners’ list in 2019, be sure to register for a full week Americade wristband to receive a special drawing ticket!

3 days. 3 days is how long it takes for our Rolling Thru America tours to sell out year after year and 2018 was no exception. Every fall, we take ONLY 100 lucky people on a new September tour and you must act fast to secure your spot. This year’s tours took us back by popular demand to Canada’s Laurentian Mountains for Rolling Thru Quebec and to the winding Atlantic coastline for Rolling through Maine. Rolling Thru Quebec attendees enjoyed top-notch meals and outstanding scenic riding as the group rolled deep into the mountains near Quebec’s famous Mont Tremblant ski area as well as the lush valleys north of Gatineau. The group enjoyed miles and miles of twisty roads, passing quaint villages, vineyards and spectacular views of the nearby mountains. Attendees enjoyed five star meals prepared by award winning chefs at several exquisite venues, including one accessed by an airborne tram to its elegant lakeside location. After riding all day, folks were able to relax and unwind at the five star hotel in the quaint town of Montebello. The next weekend, Rolling Thru Maine kicked off for what some have deemed the “BEST Rolling Thru America tour” EVER. The group stayed at a breathtaking resort overlooking Penobscot Bay in a classic Maine coastal town. They enjoyed 2 full days of riding along the most scenic coastal routes on the east coast. They rode down winding

peninsula roads, periodically riding along the seaside, passing by and visiting lighthouses along the way-- including the famous lighthouse seen in Forrest Gump! From oceanside to mountain top, the group enjoyed outstanding meals with both old and new friends. Folks enjoyed local favorites including fresh lobster and the infamous Maine Whoopie Pie! If you missed out on Rolling Thru Maine this year, don’t worry -- we’re bringing it back in 2019! Along with Rolling Thru Maine, 2019 will bring us to Virginia! Virginia is home to some of the best riding roads in the country and is sure to be another fan-favorite tour! Interested in joining either of the 2019 tours? Here are some of the details: Rolling Thru America Tours span 4 days, and include lodging at stunning hotels, two full days of guided rides on wonderfully crafted routes and 7 outstanding meals. They sell out VERY quickly and are usually 90% filled by repeat attendees, but every year a few lucky first-timers are able to get a coveted spot. ADVENTURE BIKE RALLY™ “Two roads diverged in the woods, and I took the one less paved.” Picture a small Americade for riders who like to take the road less traveled, as well as less paved. Americade’s 3rd annual adventure bike rally, “DirtDaze,” ran parallel with Americade and featured factory ADV bike demos from Suzuki and others, a small vendor village, world class off-road training and guided rides through the Adirondack and Vermont woods. While everyone was encouraged to check out DirtDaze, the perfect attendee was that portion of Americaders who arrived on adventure bikes like BMW GS 1200’s, Suzuki VStroms, KTM’s, etc, or those who have one in the garage at home. With a passionate group of fans who camp onsite or in a hotel nearby, it has grown every year. Attendee quotes this year called DirtDaze: “Exceptional” “Very well organized with awesome attendees.” “Had no idea so many dirt roads were nearby.”

44

americade.com

Stay tuned... BIG DirtDaze 2019 announcement coming soon!

Like Americade, the DirtDaze Guided Rides were some of the most popular events, taking people deep into the Adirondacks and Vermont’s Green Mountains, via remote dirt roads leading to an excellent lunch way out in the country. With so much scenery in this region, riders get to enjoy a unique perspective of the Lake George area. If you went on one of these rides, you may have even found yourself following Bill Dutcher, founder of Americade. “Yes, I conscript my father to lead one of these tours. In his teens he did a lot of dirt riding (& racing) so it’s like a return to his roots and he loves sharing the Adirondacks with new attendees each year,” said Christian Dutcher. For 2019, you’ll see some big changes to DirtDaze. While DirtDaze always takes the road less paved, one can only ride in the same area for so long. Stay tuned for further announcements: www.dirtdazerally.com

Winter Storage: Storing Your Motorcycle for Winter: Tips from Spectro Performance Oils Below is a guide to preparing your motorcycle for winter storage. These are the most important steps, and if they are followed, it will ensure that you will keep your bike on the road, track or trail for many years to come without issue. Use Spectro Motorcycle Wash to give your bike a thorough cleaning to avoid corrosion and blemishes to the paint during the long winter months. Add an ethanol fuel treatment to your fuel tank. Try Spectro’s new Ethanol Fuel Conditioner to extend the life of your fuel for easy start up in spring, which will eliminate any further breakdown and negative effects caused by ethanol bonding with water to degrade your fuel. Always replace your engine oil before winter storage instead of the spring. Treating your engine to fresh oil and filters prior to storage will prevent corrosion and engine sludge build up which are both detrimental to engine longevity. Spectro has an oil for every motorcycle in production. To see Spectro’s complete line of engine oils, visit www.spectro-oils.com. IMPORTANT: Restart bike and take it for a quick ride to circulate the new oil throughout the engine to ensure all components have been coated with the fresh oil. Lube your cables with Spectro 101 Multipurpose Lubricant and adjust free play if necessary, for smooth gear/clutch engagement and braking functions. This is a great time to inspect brake fluid levels and check which type your motorcycle requires (DOT 3/4 or a DOT 5) Use Spectro Chain Lube, Chain Wax or Z-Clean Chain Lube to lubricate your chain (adjust chain tension if necessary) if your bike is belt driven, inspect for cracks. If your bike has a drive shaft, check your fluid levels. Change final drive fluid if the owner’s manual says to do so. Inspect your tires and tire valves for wear, cracks/dry rot and pressure. If tires are low, inflate to recommended pressures. Check your battery, if water levels are low, add distilled water to each cell that is low and connect a battery tender/trickle charger to extend the life into the next season. Plug exhaust pipes to prevent rodents from nesting. Cover and store in a safe and dry location.

Tips from the pros Battery Care From Yuasa

If at all possible, remove the battery from the vehicle. Clean the battery and terminals using a solution of baking soda and water if there is any concern of electrolyte outside of the battery. Make sure that nothing enters the battery during cleaning. You can also use this same solution to clean the battery compartment of the vehicle to help neutralize any electrolyte that may be present. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. After the battery is cleaned, inspect for any signs of damage or extraordinary wear that may have occurred while in service. If you have any concerns about the condition of your battery, you should seek the advice of a mechanic or a battery specialist. Upon determining there is no concern of damage, for conventional batteries, check the electrolyte levels. The level of electrolyte must be maintained above the minimum and at or below the maximum level line on the side of the battery. Check only when on a flat level service. If you need to increase the level, carefully add distilled water avoiding any overfill. Once the levels are adjusted, charge the battery referring to the manufacturer’s instructions. AGM batteries (also referred to as VLRA or Maintenance Free) do not require you to maintain the electrolyte levels. AGM batteries must never be opened once in service or permanent damage and failure will occur. As with the conventional batteries, once you have cleaned and inspected the battery, charge it per the manufacturer’s instructions. With the batteries in a full state of charge, you may wish to store it in a cool dry area away from children and pets. You may also choose to reinstall it in the vehicle. Either way, allow yourself access to the battery so you can periodically check your state of charge, or simply attach a battery charger/ maintainer to it. Maintaining your battery state of charge during extended periods of storage is essential to insure the maximum service life is delivered.

Plan Ahead: Ride For Kids Charity Ride (& Parade) - Enjoy a Ride and Save a Child.

Our first ever RFK Charity Ride happened at Americade 2018, and we raised $15,000 for kids battling brain tumors. Will we do it again? You bet! Will it be even better? Oh yes. The 2019 Americade RFK Charity Ride (& Parade) will take place on Saturday of Americade Week. The communities loved what they saw and are getting onboard, so you’ll see large crowds along the curbside cheering you on as you depart Glens Falls and as you enter Lake George. The size of the Americade RFK Charity Ride will likely double, which adds to the festivities and the good that the ride does. We’ll have a few surprises up our sleeves at lunch, and someone in that parade will win a new motorcycle (which will be the best odds you’ll ever have for a motorcycle grand prize).

Activity/Event Title Americade Rides - Where Will You Go This Year?

We have a workshop full of elves mapping out new rides, new destinations and working with chefs on amazing menus. But, we can’t reveal all the juicy details yet - that’s what pre-registration is for!

However, every year we roll out many new tours, and we only offer them for two years, at which point we set them aside for a few years. So, carpe diem, or carpe throttle as the case may be, otherwise it will be a while before they’re available again. And yes, they DO sell out, which makes pre-registering all the more important. Our Poker Run and the Amazing Ride will see big changes this year. You gave us lots of great feedback, which we acted on, and we think you’ll love the results.

June 3-8, 2019 Block Party - All Ages, Magnificent Music & Spectacular Stunts

In 2018, we shifted our music festival into a 2 day Block Party, which turned out to be very popular. Each day featured multiple bands, multiple stunt shows, displays, food and a beer garden. The headline act each day played in the evening, drawing thousands of fans to the huge mobile stage spanning Canada Street. For 2019, the Block Party will return, but to an all new location in the Village. Featuring new bands and entertainment, and a new & improved layout. We can’t divulge where it will be yet, so look for the big announcement in February. We’re making a number of changes to the Block Party, which will ease travel along the length of Canada Street. So, riding along Canada Street will be much faster this year. Giddy Up!

Better, Easier, Faster, Closer - Getting Around Will Be A Breeze We’ll be making a number of tweaks at Americade 2019, all designed to help you get in, out, to and from Americade.

Entering FWH will be improved, with traffic light improvements at the entrance. Want a turn signal when turning into the Fort? We’ll have that. Want easier traffic flow within FWH. Done. Did you ask for more handicap parking at Registration? You got it. And, we might just have a special app for your phone to help you get around too. Stay tuned!
