2014 AMERICADE!

You are about to experience one of America’s premier events. Each year our community awaits the arrival of thousands of motorcyclists eager to experience our hospitality, beautiful surroundings and the events planned by Americade’s experienced staff and volunteers. Our residents and merchants look forward to renewing friendships and acquaintances made over the past thirty-one years of Americade. Take time also to thank all of the wonderful volunteers that have made this great event possible over the past many years. We are honored to have you as our guests and invite you back at any time of the year with your friends and family.

On behalf of the Town of Lake George, we welcome you and your family to the World Famous AMERICADE, held on the shores of Lake George, known as the “Queen of American Lakes”. Each year, motorcycle buffs young and old from all walks of life gather to enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake, meet their fellow bike enthusiasts, find out what’s new and have a good time, against the backdrop of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. We hope during your stay with us, you will have an opportunity to explore our resort community, which features a unique assortment of shops, restaurants, parks, and beaches. Please enjoy your stay, and return soon during any season to enjoy the splendor of our Town of Lake George. Dennis Dickinson Town Supervisor

Director’s Chair For the 200+ Americade volunteers, and the 10 full time employees, it’s a real treat to create an event that so many people enjoy. It puts a smile on our faces knowing that we’re putting a smile on so many other faces. The yearly challenge is offering new and fun events to all of you. For this year, we introduced many big changes, including lowering the week-long pass price, adding more events in one of the week-long packages, and revamping some of our key events. Most notably, the Friday Night Celebration by Tour Master has a new home, a new format, bigger prizes and more entertainment. Hold on to your helmets, it’s going to be a big night! In addition to making Americade fun, we get to create events that allow our motorcycling community to do some good. Over the years, Americaders (you) and Americade have helped countless local charities, raising well over half a million dollars! For 2014, we’re doing even more, while also making your Americade experience better. For example, we’re working with the Building for America’s Bravest Foundation (BAB-F) to bring an amazing (and quite large) 9/11 exhibit to TourExpo. It’s one of the few non-motorcycling exhibits in the show and we think it’ll add to your Americade Week experience. By donating to the BAB-F, we’re helping one heck of an organization build homes for disabled & returning vets. Stop by the exhibit, say hello, & see what they’re up to. Yes, your week at Americade is going to be full of fun. You’re going to see and do things you’ll talk about for the rest of the year. You may also help someone you’ve never met. Thanks for coming, and thanks for doing some good. Ride Safely,

-Christian Dutcher

Touring Tips 1. Begin your day with a FULL tank of gas and EMPTY bladder. (Make a gas stop one of the last things you do before heading for your night’s lodging.) 2. If you’re taking a Guided MiniTour with friends, have breakfast together and arrive as a group. We put you in line as you arrive and it’s difficult to accommodate riders who arrive separately. 3. We suggest you arrive early; however, this does not guarantee you’ll be in the first wave leaving the lot. Tours have multiple waves and staggered departure times. 4. Arrive with clothing appropriate for the expected weather and temperature for the destination. 5. All MiniTours proceed at the legal speed limit, allowing time for photo opps & rest stops. 6. Because parking may be congested at some stops, please don’t bring trailers. 7. Tour Leaders will announce each tour’s CB Channel before departure. 8. Don’t forget to bring your camera. The annual Americade Photo Contest (see Page 8) pays cash and if you have some shots of MiniTour destinations, it might pay for a good piece of your vacation.

Riding Rules 1. Ride in staggered formation. Use a two-second spacing interval. 2. No passing or weaving, please. 3. All standard rules of the road apply; this is a tour, not a parade or a race. Riders must obey all traffic signals, unless a traffic control officer waves you through. 4. Your presence must be accounted for. If you have to leave the group for any reason: please notify your Tour Leader before you depart the tour. 5. Departure and rest stop times must be adhered to. 6. The main formation will not stop for breakdowns; tour staff will call for assistance if needed. 7. A.M.A. “Ride Straight” rules apply for the safety of all. 8. NO Pets please (for the safety of others and destination restrictions). 9. Bring a FULL tank of gas, an EMPTY bladder & a BIG !

“Girls Can’t Do What?”

Maggie McNally

Hearing “girls don’t ride motorcycles” set Maggie on a lifelong journey of riding with many challenges: equipment, apparel, a serious crash, motherhood, and not being taken seriously.

Now as the Chair of the AMA Board of Directors (and the first woman to lead the AMA board in the association’s 89-year history) she’s certainly taken seriously. She’s still a passionate rider and an MSF Rider Coach and remains glad to be a part of the fastest growing demographic in motorcycling. C ome meet Maggie as she shares her experiences perfecting her ride and helping others join the fun! Rodeo & BBQ Ride in on your steel horse for a fun night of delicious smoked BBQ, rodeo excitement & prizes from Harley-Davidson! First, put your feedbag on for generous portions of top-quality Texas-style BBQ Chicken and Pulled Pork---slowly smoked on the premises since early morning---yummm. But y’all know a cowboy can’t live on meat alone. There are plenty o’sides to fill the chinks and top it off with something sweet. After the BBQ, mosey on over to the covered grandstands and watch as the professional cowboys and cowgirls compete on the pro-rodeo circuit. Capture the excitement of bareback, saddle bronc, and bull riding. Hold on to your cowboy hats during the team roping, calf roping, and steer wrestling, and as the ladies race against the clock in the barrel racing contest. Between all the bustin’, ridin’ & racin’...folks’ll wanna take a break for Harley-Davidson to give away some amazing prizes. As the dust begins to settle in the rodeo arena, follow the sounds of the hottest country music as it flows out between the swinging doors of the Longhorn Saloon. Here you can kick up your heels all night long, or belly-up and discover just how wild the west can be. When: Wednesday BBQ serves at 6pm Rodeo starts at 7:30pm Longhorn Saloon: open ‘til the cows come home Where: Painted Pony Rodeo (see map pg 6; #12)

Festival of Lights Join the crowd and Light up the Night! Thursday evening is filled with action and color as brilliantly lit bikes parade through Lake George Village and Fort William Henry---where they circle the Balloon Glow. A Fire Juggler and other illuminated surprises make the parade’s entrance onto the FWH grounds spectacular!

Light Parade: All are welcome to join in the fun!

Registered & non-registered Americaders are welcome to join the Parade. As Parade participants, they’ll also be eligible for the Light Judging at FWH (see classes & times below); sign up at FWH once you arrive  When: Parade Line-up: starting at 8:30pm Parade Departure: 9:30pm Where: LG High School (see map pg 6; #3) Special prizes for all parade participants from Fast Lights

Decorative Lighting Judging

Who’s the most colorful? Your bike will REALLY have to shine to stand out in this crowd. Folks pull out all the bling to get noticed (hint: sparkley riders are part of the bike and dazzle the judges) in this competition.

2 Classes:

• Standard • Computer Sponsored by: Fast Lights When: Thursday; 10pm Where: FWH Demo Lot (see map pg 24; #14)

Functional Lighting Judging

See who wins the “Battle of the Bulbs” as Judges, with the help of a light meter, score how well your lights illuminate areas of the “roadway.”

4 Classes:

• HID • Halogen • LED • Best of Show-Judged on a sliding scale dependent upon the total wattage, number of lamps & light output readings. Sponsored by: Twisted Throttle When: Thursday; 10:30pm Where: FWH Demo Lot (see map pg24; #14)
