1. Lack of Energy As we age, hormone levels begin to decline, resulting in feelings of increased fatigue. Daily activities that were once enjoyable may feel more laborious. While testing is required to identify which hormones a patient is lacking, decreased energy can often be remedied with BHRT.

Instead of merely reacting to patient’s ailments, he works with his patients to proactively prevent disease and improve overall quality of life. Dr. Bligh, board-certified in both anti-aging and internal medicine, implemented his over 14 years of experience when he founded the St. Louis Center for Preventive & Longevity Medicine in 2003. The practice provides three specialized components—Concierge Medicine, Age Management and Cosmetic Services—that work synergistically to help patients look and feel better as they age. AGE MANAGEMENT His own personal journey with age-related illness inspired Dr. Bligh to explore new innovative ways to treat and prevent chronic diseases, and paved the way for Dr. Bligh to create his thriving Age Management practice. Dr. Bligh’s research introduced him to the benefits of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Unlike synthetics, “bioidentical hormones are chemically similar to the hormones found in your body,” Dr. Bligh explains, and are therefore believed to be safer than synthetics when administered properly by a physician. As we age, hormone levels drop, often resulting in a marked decrease in energy, difficulty sleeping, increased body fat retention, decreased muscle mass and lowered libido, among other complaints, Dr. Bligh explains. When one of Dr. Bligh’s patients comes in with such issues, a full screening questionnaire and diagnostic labs are administered to discover what hormone deficiencies the patient may have. “Most physicians don’t test these deficiencies aggressively,” Dr. Bligh says. Testosterone for example, a hormone that plays a key role in sexual functioning and an overall sense of wellbeing, drops about 1 per cent a year after age 30 Dr. Bligh notes. “We know that supplementing testosterone to a more youthful range can decrease the risk of heart disease, hypertension and diabetes and can lower the accumulation of abdominal fat and loss of muscle mass,” Dr. Bligh says. Decreased estrogen is another common hormone deficiency patients face as they age, which for women can cause hot flashes; vaginal, skin and eye dryness; short-term memory failure and an overall foggy thought process. Progesterone deficiencies can cause sleep problems, periods that are heavier than usual and severe PMS. Human Growth Hormone, despite having caught flack in the press for allegedly being abused by athletes to get an edge on the competition, is used safely and responsibly in Dr. Bligh’s practice. HGH is used
to help treat patients who are deficient in the hormone, which is responsible for helping the body recover faster after injury or workout.
2. Declining Sex Drive
“There is no magic pill,” Dr. Bligh warns those who expect hormone replacement therapy to be a cure-all. “There is a lot hormones can do, but 99 per cent of it is lifestyle, and we spend a lot of time with our patients giving them the information they need to not only get better but to stay better.”
After 40, 35 percent of men’s testosterone levels are low. Women’s testosterone levels also drop and they too may notice a decreased interest in sex. Dr. Bligh can test for decreased testosterone, the hormone that plays a key role in a healthy libido.

3. Decrease in Muscle Mass
Dr. Bligh believes you don’t have to be at the mercy of band-aid medicine, which seems to quickly diagnose ailments and offers a one-size-fits-all treatment without investigating the root cause of illness and forgoes the exploration needed for the prevention of age-related disease.
“Even those who are working out and doing the good things they should, they may notice an accumulation of body fat in spite of it,” Dr, Bligh says. Hormones such as testosterone can help people retain muscle mass as they age.

Time for patients to ask questions, time for the doctor to properly screen patients for better disease prevention and time for the doctor to go in-depth with patients about how a particular treatment works and why it is being recommended. 4. Depression or Foggy Cognitive Function “Hormone deficiencies can cause a new onset of depression in men, and women who used to be able to multi-task with no problem now may find their thought process is foggy,” Dr. Bligh says. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can help.

a blast from the past We first met Centro Models Hannah Baxter and Alex Sapot during Saint Louis Fashion Week. Spending hours in the behind-the-scenes runway trenches, we came to appreciate them as much for their fun and adventurous personalities as for their classic beauty and boyish good looks, respectively. On the lookout for the opportunity to work with both of them again, they were our first choices for this month’s bridal pictorial (“Peggy Sue Got Married,” p.70). We couldn’t wait for the day of the shoot when we got word that they were both available. Though off to a rocky start, battling storm-force winds and golf ball-sized hail on day one of the shoot, the crew regrouped at the historic Franklin County Courthouse for a re-shoot that took us back in time. Shot in three towns over the course of three days, the shoot would not have been possible without the generosity of such contributors as Commissioner Ann Schroeder, Bonjour Stunson (father of West model Monet Stunson) and Jerry Kravitz. The charm of Kirkwood came to life at the home of Jim and Debbie Sherman and, with an unrivaled collection of mid-century antiques, working at TFA was like having a Hollywood movie set as our playground. Spending time in the era that gave birth to rock ‘n’ roll, we were ready to dance and enjoy music at the Cricket Wireless Emerging Artist Music Festival at the Tudor Building development on Washington Avenue. The top six bands, voted on by our readers, performed and kept partygoers including Greg Lukeman, Kacie Star Triplett and Jerald Ieans entertained all afternoon. Cricket’s Chenell Seaton mingled with Miller Brewing Company’s Mark Moxley and Smoking Joe’s Joel Rozelle while Dan Holak from Robert Wood Realty was seen chatting with some of the bands in the green room, sipping FIJI Water.

For us, the “face” of ALIVE needed something as bold, fresh and modern to match the voice of its content and spirit of its readership. She’s still trying to decide what she likes best about her new job. It’s either the people, the daily challenges or the fact that she sometimes gets paid to tweet.

“Since I spend most of my time shooting people at weddings, it’s a great change of pace to focus on places and food for the nightlife and restaurant features in ALIVE,” says contributing photographer Liz Reiff Sloan. “St. Louis has so many neat, old nooks and hip, new hangouts that it makes me wish the nights were longer so I could visit all of them.” Liz also loves soaking in the ambiance, nibbling on the food and sipping on a fine glass of pinot noir. Joe Edwards has once again dreamed up the perfect blend of kitsch and cool. At his new boutique Moonrise Hotel, the man behind The Loop’s renaissance plays with a 20th-century outer space theme everywhere from the guest rooms, featuring black-and-white postcard art, to Eclipse, a restaurant where comic-art space guns proliferate. The retro theme is especially evident on the cocktail menu. General manager Chad George, a sommelier who honed his bar skills at Monarch, uses rye whiskey, Peychaud’s bitters and other classic spirits in perfectly crafted drinks. The best place to enjoy them is the rooftop terrace bar, where a huge model moon adorns the sky.

never picked up a makeup brush; never thought about doing makeup, ever. I started out at Macy’s working for six different makeup lines; I think my first makeover took me three hours, but I liked it and I wanted it to be perfect—and that’s how it began! After that, I worked as an account coordinator for Lancôme. I didn’t like the corporate world at all so I then worked as a national makeup artist for Lancôme and Chanel. Something was always missing and I couldn’t put my finger on it. JM: How did you make
your way to film?
LK: My dad, who’s
an entrepreneur and always involved in the entertainment industry in some capacity, knew I was in a rut and advised me to check out the Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts in Burbank, California. I was like, “That’s a great idea!” Even though I had had some experience doing makeup, it was a completely different entity for me; I learned everything from special effects to color theory to the “Westmore methods”—techniques the Westmores created that I’m not allowed to talk about. The Westmores started makeup in film; they’re basically legends and working under them was amazing.
A veteran of the film, TV and print industries, makeup artist Lisa Kalz has made
a living enhancing the natural beauty of the biggest names in entertainment—from Joan Rivers to Jack Nicholson—for more than a decade. Between bouncing from movie set to movie set, Kalz also makes time for her seasonal stint as Hair & Makeup Director of Saint Louis Fashion Week. Fresh from the St. Louis set of Up in the Air starring George Clooney, Kalz sat down with me to divulge her journey to the big screen, the season’s makeup musts and what Mr. Clooney was really like behind the scenes.

JM: Luckily, Up in the Air was filmed in St. Louis. What was it like working with George Clooney? LK: Just knowing that St. Louis was able to bring in such a big-budget film was exciting for our union; we have such a talented group of crew members and it was amazing for all of us. I avoided George...a lot. After seeing how people were swarming him, I was like, “I am not going to engage in any of this; this is my job.” I guess he knew what I was doing because he went out of his way to make me laugh. He’s just very funny, a good guy; what you see is what you get. When you’re on a movie set, one of the things I love is that you really become a family unit. You develop relationships with everyone, including the actors. It’s really a wonderful thing. You have your moments, but for the most part, when it’s over and after you’ve worked a million hours, you can’t wait to go to work on the next one. JM: So, what is the next one? LK: I will be working with Elisabeth Rohm in
Seattle on a yet-to-be-titled film. This will be my third film with her; I’m her personal makeup artist. Then, I’ll be on a feature film in Chicago called Johnny Violence. It’s a thriller and way “out there.” I’m very excited about that one. I’ll be on an independent film in between, and after, will be traveling to London for another project. JM: What other stars have you worked with? LK: Penny Marshall, who was very funny; Mickey

I’ve worked with Joan Rivers; what a beautiful soul. She’s an amazing woman; one of the most grounded celebrities I’ve ever met. So gracious and generous. And she’s a wonderful mother. You can tell she raised her daughter right.

What to do:
1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Place pizza crust on pizza pan or large cookie sheet. Spread pesto over crust leaving 1/2-inch border. Top with tomatoes, garlic and provolone.
2. Bake pizza 10 minutes or until cheese melts. Remove pizza from oven. Sprinkle basil all over pizza. Cut into 6 wedges and serve immediately.

R&B SENSATION INDIA.ARIE GETS REAL ON LIFE, LOVE AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE. By Jennifer Dulin Wiley If there’s one thing to know about singer-songwriter India.Arie, it’s this: The girl’s got some serious soul—and it spans much further than the moving melodies for which she’s famous. With two platinum albums (“Acoustic Soul” and “Voyage to India”), 17 Grammy nominations, two Grammy Awards and four NAACP Image Awards under her belt, the R&B artist has not only established herself as “an artist of substance”—as she was recently dubbed by The New York Times—but as an artist of the world. Breaking out of her shell with the release of revolutionary live studio album “Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics”—an honest and thought-provoking collection of soulful tunes the artist calls “an unhindered expression” of herself—India.Arie makes no excuses for the bold, idealistic message she sends to the world through her self-launched album label, Soulbird Music. That message is also evident in her humanitarian efforts—including trips to

Alive: You’ve been on your Soulbird Tour [stopping in St. Louis at the Fox Theatre on June 30] for a few months now. How’s it going? India.Arie: It’s been very busy. I got home to Atlanta yesterday, and I have to leave again tomorrow for a month—it’s, you know, the life. But I’m enjoying it a lot more now than I have in the past. Being onstage is always fun, but that’s only a few hours out of every 24. I’m enjoying the journey more and learning how to shift my mental attitude. I’m growing as an artist, so it’s fun. Alive: You’ve added additional shows with John Legend. What’s the chemistry like between the two of you? IA: Pairing with John just made sense. I knew it would be a package the audience would love to see. For me, the whole process is very experimental. My performance style is all improvisation; I really live in the moment. When you’re touring with another great artist, you challenge and bring things out of each other. The thing I respect most about John is his discipline and his ability to communicate music. I first realized what an amazing musician he was when we sang his song “Ordinary People” together many years ago on the Oxygen network. Afterward, I called him up and told him that before I met him, I was kind of up-
set he existed because he reminded me so much of another artist I was friends with. But after singing with him, I realized how disciplined he was, and I respect him for that. He was laughing so hard, and when I asked him why, he said, “People aren’t usually that honest.” Alive: The fans get to see that same candid honesty in your latest album, “Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics.” What were you able to say with this album that you weren’t yet ready or able to say with your previous ones? IA: There was a time in my career when all I thought about was getting played on the radio, but when I traveled and saw how big the world is and how much other things really mattered, I thought, “I’m not going to do this for the money anymore. I’m going to do it how I want to do it.” So I ventured out and made a live album that said what I wanted it to say, which was very risky. I can remember for a lot of my career wanting to say the things that are expressed in this album and being told, “That’s too preachy” or “That’s too idealistic.” I had to forget all that because I can’t deny what I believe. Even after being in Kenya and seeing people living in true poverty, I still came back with the same ideals about what it means to love your neighbor. I took the risk because my life didn’t feel right doing it the other way. I’d rather take the risk of someone not buying my album than in my heart feeling like I’m not being honest. I’m blessed that it seems to be working. Alive: What was it like to take that kind of risk? IA: A lot of life-changing things happened when I first began creating this album. I ended up in a rural village in Hawaii and spent a month really contemplating my life and career over the last 10 years. The way that everything turned out is a sign that when my intuition tells me something, I should go with it. I listened to my heart, and it changed my life. Alive: Looking back on your journey from coffeehouse singer to worldwide star, what do you remember most about those early days? IA: I remember feeling this unequivocal truth that I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing. I’d never felt that sure about anything in my life; I just knew this is what I was meant to do. I remember feeling this way when I was in art school studying jewelry making, and I called my mom and told her I wanted to come back to Atlanta and sing. She told me I could live with her rent-free for one year to see what happened with my career. Within
six months, I was making my own money and bought my own car. Alive: How has your mom, also a singer-songwriter and your personal stylist, influenced your career? IA: I didn’t have any formal voice lessons or training; I learned everything I know about singing and songwriting from my mom. We’ve written some songs together, and she is so talented. But the biggest thing she is to me is my support system. In the music industry, everyone needs someone who will love them unconditionally because there are a lot of people who love what they think you are, but not who you really are. When I’m onstage, I give myself completely to the audience, and when you don’t have anyone giving back to you, you can end up burnt out and depleted. Her support is the only reason I can sustain this life because I’m really more of an introverted, solitary person. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. Alive: It’s clear you hold strong convictions. Is there a certain motto you live by, or personal mission? IA: My personal motto is to tell the truth no matter what, and let the chips fall where they may. Careerwise, my mission is to spread love, healing and peace through the power of words and music. I came up with this mission because I was confronted with all the distractions of the music industry—like winning Grammys, trying to get everyone to like me when I know that’s impossible and trying to get on the radio. I realized it was just draining the actual creative process, which is what I love. I make choices based on that mission every day. Alive: What moment in your career will you never forget? IA: The first time Stevie Wonder called me on the phone and said, “I love your music.” I was like, “This is it!” He told me “Brown Skin” was going be the big song of my career. I was in the car and thought I might drive off the road. He told me, “Don’t get too excited and crash—we need you on this planet.” I about lost my mind when we got off the phone! Alive: When you think about your accomplishments—8 million albums sold worldwide, two Grammy Awards and multiple platinum albums—does it feel real? IA: No, not yet! 25 Ways to Look Good, Feel Great and Live Longer by Natalie Kurz 1. Protect your heart by getting a move on. Women who don’t exercise have twice the chance of dying from heart disease as women who do exercise, according to the American Heart Association. So get up and get moving! Local gyms and personal training facilities like Sweat (sweatstlouis.com) and The Fitness Edge (fitnessedge-stl.com) offer plenty of resources from personal training to cardio equipment and classes to get your heart pumping. Research also shows that diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids (found in salmon, trout and flax) and unrefined whole grains can help lower the risk of coronary disease.
2. Smooth wrinkles and plump skin from the inside out. It’s no wonder Americans are underestimating how many calories we consume in a day by as much as 25 percent—we have distorted notions of appropriate serving sizes. Tip: use visual reference points to help remember suggested serving sizes. Half a cup of rice, ice cream or fruit (one serving) is the approximate size of half a baseball. 5. Load up on vitamins. According to a recent study from Har-
vard Medical School, only 1 in 4 Americans gets enough vitamin D, a nutrient important for strong bones, preventing cancer and reducing heart problems. The study suggests daily consumption should be around 1,000 IU a day, not the 400 IU that most supplements contain (good food sources include fish, milk, eggs, dairy and fortified cereals). The best way to determine if you have any vitamin deficiencies is to have your primary doctor run a blood panel and suggest the best course (supplement, diet) for tweaking your intake of any vitamins.
6. Be proactive about protecting your skin. Mom was right—the number one thing you can do to prevent the signs of aging is wear sunscreen. Look for moisturizers containing broad-spectrum sunscreens SPF to ensure you’re covered every single day. Broad-spectrum sunscreens block UVA (which cause aging and have the same intensity year-round) and UVB rays (which contribute to sunburn and cancer) by snagging solutions that contain titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, Helioplex or Mexoryl. And until the FDA approves the proposed legislation to add a star-rating system to sunscreens in addition to the existing SPF numbers, making it easier to determine their strength, you can count on the increasingly popular system of using plussigns after product names to indicate their strength.

On the eve of their September 13 wedding, Erin and Dan Friederich exchanged their 488th love letter—a feat not many other modernday couples can claim. The gesture seemed fitting, given that the daily romantic exchanges during Dan’s 16-month tour in Iraq created the first sparks between the pair, who had been friends since high school. They chose Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Soulard—the site of Dan’s parents’ wedding 27 years earlier—to exchange their vows in the presence of 300 close family and friends. The reception site itself (Moulin Events, 314.241.4949) was modern, but the space had Dan and Erin’s classic romantic signature all over it. Guests enjoyed catering by Chef Ivy Magruder (of Eleven Eleven Mississippi and Vin De Set) at intimate candlelit tables and watched blissfully as the couple danced to their official song, “So Happy Together.” A fun-filled night of dancing and celebration followed, culminating with everyone gathered in a circle singing “Sweet Caroline.”

For Dan and Erin, ample dance time was a must, so they skipped the traditional cake cutting and bouquet toss in favor of more time on the dance floor. They took private dance lessons to prep for their first dance and managed to get the entire wedding party on stage for a hilarious in-costume rendition of “YMCA.”

Alicia Aboussie got what most brides only dream of—the chance to relive an incredible wedding day. After saying her vows on July 5, 2008, in the Turkish city of Bergama (the hometown of her husband, Mehmet Yildiz), Alicia went straight into planning a second ceremony in St. Louis, scheduled nine months later at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The second set of nuptials, as multicultural as the first, paid homage to both Turkish and Lebanese traditions in a nondenominational ceremony officiated by the couple’s good friend. Guests from around the globe were treated to traditional Midwest fare (filet and potatoes) and to the sounds of The Ralph Butler Band in the exquisite Ritz ballroom, which was elegantly bathed in romantic red light as a tribute to Turkish culture. An entirely handpicked song list assured all 275 guests were on the dance floor, joining in on the well-known Dabke—the national dance of Lebanon—in addition to traditional Turkish and Arabic numbers.

An impeccable blend of Turkish, Lebanese and American cultures pervaded the day’s festivities, starting with the ceremony, which included a Lebanese blessing, Turkish ring exchange and traditional American vows. A Family Affair

I typically go through phases when I crave something specific—whether it’s French fries, caprese salad and, randomly, peanut butter and banana gelato. Lately, I’ve hankered for something spicy and gotten my fix at Rasoi in the Central West End. A staple on the dining scene, Rasoi blends the flavors of Southern and Northern India with a well-designed space that features colors as bold and vibrant as the cuisine.
Adventurous Appetizers Rasoi delivers with traditional offerings—and a few surprises. Of the latter, the crab cake appetizer, which swapped the bread-crumb coating for garbanzo bean batter, includes three mildly spicy cakes served over a yogurt sauce and toasted corn raita was slightly filling, even for an appetizer. The lobster dosa, a crepe made from rice and black lentils that hails from the South Indian region, is served with sweet potatoes and delicate lobster meat. The Bollywood popper has an enjoyable bite; the Anaheim pepper has just a hint of spiciness to balance nicely with the shrimp and spice stuffing and coconut sauce. Vegetable and meat samosas (delicate stuffed pastry) and pakora (garbanzo beanbattered fritters) are irresistible apps—my veggie pakora were perfectly crunchy on the outside. Exotic Flavors Like most Indian restaurants, the dishes are generous and often occupy every inch of table space, as my party of four and I encountered on a recent visit. Our steaming platters arrived, and the table quickly filled with bowls of soft, saffron-touched basmati rice, warm, chewy naan (Indian bread baked in a clay oven) and array of relishes, including chutney. For the rookie Indian eater, ordering a tandoori specialty is the route to go—the options of marinated meats provided an easy segue into the more adventurous flavors and dishes Rasoi offers. The tandoori chicken arrives piping hot and juicy on a platter with four breasts of chicken, marinated with fresh herbs, and the NY-strip steak is rubbed with spiced tandoori marinade and served with tomato chutney. I particularly enjoyed the malai kabab with tender chicken breast cubes infused with a clever combo of ginger and garlic. Usually, I’m more likely to skim over the vegetarian options and head straight for the chicken curry, but Rasoi’s dozen vegetarian dishes are actually tempting, with options like roasted eggplant cooked with tomatoes and peas, and banana peppers with a spiced stuffing. But for a real Indian experience, the chicken curry is a must-order as well as the vindaloo (available with lamb or chicken). Although this traditional dish is not found too often in India, it’s a mainstay on Indian menus in the U.S. and is served with potatoes. Looks like Rasoi is no quickly fleeting fixation.

Ice Kitchen in Westport Plaza is a relative newcomer—the grand opening was May 22, with a soft launch a few weeks earlier—but you wouldn’t know it from the weekend traffic. Then again, Ice Kitchen’s owner, Munsok So, also runs the popular The Drunken Fish restaurants in the Central West End, Westport Plaza and Laclede’s Landing, as well as the Landing’s Xes Nightclub.
Hot Tapas & Cool Vodkas The new restaurant and lounge has many things going for it besides ownership, however. The fusion tapas menu offers a dish for nearly every taste, from proscuitto to buffalo to asparagus to pierogi. It zooms across continents, blending flavors at every crossroads. The cocktail menu takes a global turn, too, into the world of vodka. Sampling a few of the dozens of brands and styles is highly encouraged. To that end, the martini flight includes a Cold Flirt (made with the house vodka, Svedka, plus raspberry liqueur,

pineapple juice and raspberry puree), a vodka-based version of the Gold Digger and a chocolate-banana dessert martini. Another popular option, the sangria flight, comes in an elaborate, eye-catching tower. High-Energy Scene As you enter, you’ll probably be asked if it’s your first visit to Ice Kitchen. If it is, the very attentive servers and managers will walk you through their version of the tapas dining experience. Instead of ordering repeatedly throughout the night, go ahead and request everything you’ll want; the kitchen will stagger dishes sufficiently so all the food doesn’t arrive at once. On nights when there’s a live band or DJ, the front-of-thehouse lounge pulses with so much energy that groups tend to linger on the way to and from the private rooms further back. So’s savvy mix of restaurant and lounge gives this new place moxy—another cool spot we’ll add to our list (302 Westport Plaza, Maryland Heights, 314.542.2000).

CRICKET WIReLESS PRESENTS EMERGING ARTIST MUSIC FESTIVAL May 16> THE PLACE: Washington Avenue, between 19th and 20th Streets
THE PARTY: Starting in February, ALIVE launched its second Emerging Artist Contest, presented by Cricket Wireless, which called musicians of all genres to post their best jam session on alivemag.com and get their friends and fans to vote for them. Six local bands—Soul Alliance, Jon Hardy and the Public, Earthworms, Sunmotel, Dogtown Allstars and Nite Owl—received top votes in the online contest and were invited to play at a one-of-a-kind street festival Downtown. Emcee Damon Johnson of Loudmouth introduced each band’s set as festival-goers Jim Concannon, Noelle Lopez, Debra Bass, Gilberto Pinela, Tony Gaddis and Greg Lukeman enjoyed Miller Chill and FIJI Water as well as and Mexican eats from El Borracho. Pete Ferretti and Alderperson Kacie Starr Triplett checked out the luxury cars from Mercedes-Benz of Progress Point that flanked the festival entrance as Adhar Johnson, Kaylene Cohen, Chris Evans and Chris Strom voted for their favorite band in Cricket Wireless’ official voting booth. At the end of the event, Earthworms won the grand prize—recording time at Sawhorse Recording Studio, one year representation with TalentPlus, dinner for six at Smoking Joe’s Bar-Be-Que and a feature in an upcoming issue of ALIVE.— Cristy Miller

VIPs including Honorary Chairpersons Bill Donius and Mary Ann Srenco sipped drinks provided by Bud Light, FIJI Water, Ruskova Premium Vodka, New Amsterdam Gin, champagne tastings by Barefoot Wine and Bubbly as elected officials Alderman Shane Cohn and State Senator Jeff Smith relaxed in the Marquis Jet Lounge. Lori Hale, Cheresse Pentella, Dan Shannon, Paul Ha, Jimmy Jamieson, and Sam Foxman sampled decadent hors d’ouevres from SLeeK Steakhouse and enjoyed performances by Coco Soul of Soul Alliance throughout the evening and beats from DJs Shea Marie and Raven Fox. This year’s Urbanaire event proved to be as successful as the last, and raised over $20,000 for PROMO.—Cristy Miller
