‘Brutal’ conditions No record lows, but biting cold, and snow in the forecast Neil CORBETT Abbotsford News

It may have felt like temperatures were at record lows this week, but despite bitterly cold conditions, Abbotsford has experienced worse in November. Tuesday reached a low of -10.9 C overnight, which was still above the record low of -13 C set Nov. 24, 1985. However, with gusts in excess of 60 km/h, wind chill approached -20 C on Monday and Tuesday. The record all-time low for Abbotsford is -20.1 C, set on Jan. 18, 1950. Harold Hildebrandt works outdoors “all day, every day” for Strohmaier’s Excavating of Chilliwack, and on Tuesday morning he was hard at work doing site preparation at the new Tim Hortons at the corner of Abbotsford Way and South Fraser Way. “You just put on three layers. “It’s mind over matter,” he added, ice clinging to his mustache. His assessment of “not too bad” was a high of -3 C on Tuesday. Some of Abbotsford’s equally stoic street people were still out and about during the week. At the foot of South Fraser Way, leading into the Abbotsford Village Shopping Centre, a man sat on the median Tuesday afternoon with a cardboard sign reading “Homeless, Hungry.” He told The News he rarely goes inside the Salvation Army’s emergency shelter, but he did on Monday night. He has a makeshift shelter built into the substructure of a Highway 1 overpass, but he crawled out at 2 a.m., and headed for the Sally Ann. “I was scared if I fell asleep again, I wouldn’t have feet,” he said.

A man living rough on the streets of Abbotsford was moved by city bylaw officers on Wednesday. He has been homeless in Abbotsford for four years, and said the past week has brought the most extreme cold conditions he has seen. “Last night was brutal,” he said. “But I’m

being moved by city bylaw officers from the front of a business at the corner of McCallum Road and McDougall Avenue. He had several garbage bags, a shopping cart, and a large pile of blankets in front of a business. He refused to go to the Salvation Army. “It was cold. It wasn’t bad. I’ve got good blankets,” he said. Temperature relief is in sight, with the forecast high 7 C on Thursday (today). However, there is 10 cm of snow in the forecast, and rain on Friday. Dave Murray, who coordinates Abbotsford’s extreme weather program, said emergency shelters will remain available until the weather significantly improves. Based on past experience, he said snow and wet weather will bring homeless people indoors faster than the cold.

Lane Sweeting, one of the team’s owners, contacted Wednesday by The News, acknowledged that some tickets were complimentary, through promotions, VIPs and other free admissions. He did not have a figure on the number of free tickets handed out through the season. Coun. John Smith said by his calculations the Heat’s financial problems would be solved with an additional 560 people per game. “I’m very disappointed. I thought we would do better,” said Smith. “I know staff and Heat management have heard that loud and clear, and they will work hard to make it a flaming success.” Smith added that he attends games, and he is proud of both the team and the arena. Coun. Lynne Harris said the simple solution is more

Abbotsford News

With a few disappointed but supportive words, Abbotsford councillors authorized a settlement payment of $450,637 to the Abbotsford Heat, to underwrite the revenue shortfall for the AHL franchise. At Monday evening’s council meeting, Coun. Les Barkman asked how much attendance has to increase to generate $450,000. “Equated to butts in seats, what would that look like?” Barkman asked. Director of finance Judy Lewis responded that most of the shortfall came about due to lower than expected commercial sales, which got off to a late start, as well as the city having to compete with the 2010 Winter Olympics for corporate support. “We need to increase commercial rights, and we need to SMITH

NewsBytes CRIME DROPPED The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is ahead of its 2010 goal of reducing violent crime in the community. The latest crime stats released up until Nov. 5 show the number of violent crimes has dropped 13 per cent compared to the same period last year. The goal for 2010 is a 10 per cent reduction. There have been 328 such crimes so far this year, compared to 375 in 2009. Meanwhile, the APD is short of its goal in another area – property crime. The department hoped to see a 10 per cent drop this year, but is so far at six per cent. The APD set a three-year goal of a 40 per cent reduction in this area, and is so far at 36.6 per cent.

SERVICE AWARDS Three Abbotsford police officers received Awards of Meritorious Service during a ceremony at Government House in Victoria last Thursday. Constables Jason Renae Hansen, Jefferey Morgan and Lisa Schonfelder were among 58 officers from across the province to receive awards from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. They were honoured for preventing a driver from drowning while trapped upside down in a water-filled ditch in December 2009.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING The Elizabeth Fry Society has been given approval to redevelop the Rio Motel and Rivers Restaurant Site into a 22unit transitional housing facility for women and mothers with their children, and an additional 20 units of long-term housing for the same client group. The new facilities will be at 31399 Livingstone Avenue, and the long-term housing may not be developed for several years.

Winter: Get used to it

This week’s brush with snowy, cold weather is a stark reminder that despite living in the most temperate climate in Canada, the Lower Mainland is still a part of a wintry country. And we’re not very good at it. The chaos that ensues after a snowfall makes us the butt of jokes in the rest of the snow-encrusted country. Last week, weather forecasters warned in dour, doom-filled tones this was coming. As S-Day neared, they issued warnings, first for two to four centimetres, then five to 10. TV news crews rushed to local garages to interview harried mechanics booked to capacity installing snow tires. They descended upon works’ yards to shoot impressive mounds of sand and salt. Newspaper reporters made dutiful calls to emergency shelters to see how they would care for the homeless. Merchants in malls and shopping centres rubbed their hands in anticipa-

tion of an appropriately seasonal feel to the start of the Christmas shopping rush. And we responded, as anyone who popped into a grocery store for a loaf of bread may have witnessed from their spot 10 people deep in the checkout line; people were stocking up to hunker down and ride out the storm. Somewhere in Calgary, where it was minus 15C last Saturday with a foot of snow already on the ground, someone’s chuckling at our expense. Mother Nature gave us a pass last year. But climatologists say this is a “La Nina” year with a very active jet stream bringing us cold temperatures from the north and moisture from the Pacific Ocean. And when they combine, that often means snow. So we’d better get used to it. Meanwhile, in Toronto it was 14 degrees and raining on Monday. Hmmmmm. – Black Press

He’s not the real Bill Bennett Tom

Fletcher

B.C. Views Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett became the political equivalent of a suicide bomber last week, detonating his career in a manner calculated to do maximum damage to the B.C. Liberal Party. He did plenty, with the help of an uncritical city media that fawned over him as they did earlier with Blair Lekstrom, the last rebel without a clue to become the ex-energy minister. Lekstrom at least showed some respect for parliamentary tradition as he rode his Harley back to Dawson Creek this spring, unable to face the onset of the HST that he had helped vote into place only weeks before. When he could no longer support the government, he quietly left cabinet and caucus, saying nice things about good intentions. Bennett figured he could stay in cabinet while forcing Premier Gordon

Campbell out early. When that didn’t work, he lashed out with high drama and unsubstantiated claims. His most specific claim was that Campbell bullied three women into quitting politics: Carole Taylor, Olga Ilich and Christy Clark. Clark denied it. Neither Taylor nor Ilich dignified Bennett’s rant with a response, but a couple of things are obvious. Campbell recruited both, despite their reluctance to leave successful business careers. Both were visibly appalled at what goes on in elections and the B.C. legislature, and stoically finished their terms before getting out. Bennett predicted that “more and more” MLAs would come forward with tales of Campbell’s atrocities. The sound you are hearing is crickets. No one, past or present, has backed him up. Bennett’s other mewlings are hardly worth mentioning. His bipartisan “outdoor caucus” idea was spurned by the NDP more than by Campbell. Kootenay Bill now says he never wanted to go into politics. He was happy fishin’ and lawyerin’ in Cranbrook when he looked up and saw the socialist hordes gathered at the gates again. Our seasoned bar fighter glanced

around him, but no other warrior for free enterprise was stepping up. So, reluctantly, he did. This, as Bennett would say, is bulls--t. No current politician has so manifestly lusted after high office as he has. After replacing Lekstrom in the vital energy portfolio, Bennett described to me how he had always put it at the top of his

He detonated his career in a manner calculated to do maximum damage to the B.C. Liberal Party. wish list whenever Campbell asked him what cabinet role he would like. (Apparently Campbell didn’t always belittle and spit on him.) It’s worth noting Bennett’s performance as an MLA and minister. He got re-elected by a thin margin last year with the help of a racially tinged advertise-

ment targeting his aboriginal opponent’s tax status. After being named to the energy job, he proclaimed himself a climate change “denier.” Then he waded into the Prosperity mine dispute, announcing to me that an unprecedented mine royalty sharing deal was in the works with a couple of other aboriginal groups, and a similar offer would be made publicly to the militant Tsilhqot’in National Government that claims the Prosperity site. That offer never came, so swift and vehement was the reaction by the Tsilhqot’in. Gee, do you think private talks might have been a good idea rather than letting them learn of the offer from the Williams Lake Tribune? Campbell intends to go out in the style of the real Bill Bennett. Kelowna Bill won three elections and remained premier until his successor was chosen at a convention in Whistler in 1986. When that turned out be Bill Vander Zalm, Kelowna Bill hoisted his hand, thanked the party for its support, and served quietly as MLA for Okanagan South until his successor for that job was chosen. tfletcher@blackpress.ca

Don’t blame businesses for drinking/driving In response to the letter written by Sharon Spearman in BCLocalNews, I want to talk about the influence businesses have on drinking habits. I agree with her that drinking and driving is a bad thing, and the new laws implemented by the government are a signal that we are on the right track. But why is she thinking that restaurants and bars are responsible for the misery caused by drinking and driving? How do you run a bar without serving alcoholic beverages?

The government sets the general conditions with laws such as the harsher drinking and driving law. Everyone in our society should follow these laws and if they do not, they need to be punished for their acts. I am an exchange student from Germany. Nowhere else I have experienced that you need to show two pieces of ID to get alcohol. In Germany you need to be 16 years old to legally drink beer and wine. In Canada you need to be 19. If it wouldn’t be possible anymore to drink

Enough bashing To Regina Dalton and the rest of the regular grousers who constantly supply this paper with volumes of personal disdain toward our elected officials and senior staff at city hall – give it a rest. You are long on sarcasm and ridicule but short on solutions. The AESC is built, and it is time for all of you to show some community spirit and be part of the solution. Have you ever attended an event at the AESC? If not, maybe it is time for you to push away from your keyboard and take in the upcoming Disney on Ice, Harlem Globetrotters or, heaven forbid, a Heat game. You and your negative cohorts might actually enjoy the outing, and bums in seats at all events in this beautiful facility are what is needed, not your continued bashing and trashing.

a beer while watching hockey, I’m pretty sure the people would stay at home, or go to another place. The same is true for restaurants. Some people want a beer or wine with their food. A bar, pub, or restaurant that is not offering alcoholic beverages will be faced with a big decrease in sales. The customers will either stay at home or will go to another place.

Spearman mentions the statistics of the drunk-driving related accidents, and I am totally with her that we need to reduce this figure to make it safer for all of us. However, we should try to find a way which will change things, and don’t just make it harder for establishments to survive. The business people are just serving the demand the people are

City puts extra $1 million into capital budget Neil CORBETT Abbotsford News

Abbotsford residents are looking at a tax increase of 4.5 per cent

in 2011, after council agreed in principle to an additional one per cent hike – or $1 million – for the capital

budget, on top of a 3.5 per cent increase for general operating and the police budget. Taxpayers will sup-

port $24 million in capital expenditures – $19 million from the present budget and $5 million for projects that

were funded last year but not completed. Budget manager Randy Millard said the city has deferred capital projects to reduce the burden on taxpayers. “Over the next five years, the requests outstrip the available (funds) by $40 million,” he told council. Some of the highlights include: Q $1.7M to build Firehall 8 Q $6.7M for road resurfacing equipment Q $300,000 for centralized irrigation for 18 sports fields. Q $1M for Old Yale

Road upgrades. Q $4.4M for a new library. A list of all projects will be presented to council on Dec. 6. The capital budget also addresses the water and sewer systems. The AbbotsfordMission shared water system will require $230 million over the next five budgets, to develop a new source of water from Stave Lake. About $110 million will be paid for from development cost charges (DCCs), while $93 million will come from user fees. In 2011, $13 million will

be spent, primarily on transmission mains. The sewer system will require $115 million over the next five years. Of that, $35 million will be paid from DCCs. Craft fair and Christmas show Kerrie-Ann SCHOENIT Abbotsford NEWS

The Abbotsford Arts Council is spreading some holiday cheer this weekend with the 30th annual Christmas Craft Fair at Exhibition Park. More than 100 artisans will showcase their innovative handmade designs in pottery, wood craft, stained glass, jewelry, soaps, candles, quilts and other needle arts. There will also be an assortment of food items on sale including sweet local honey, chocolate, nuts, pickles, relishes, sauces, and organic coffee. “There’s a little bit of everything under one roof,” said arts council executive director Judy Whyte. “We have a lot of unique one-ofa-kind items that you just can’t find in commercial stores.” The event continues to attract thousands of people every year. Whyte credits this success to the variety of different crafts available in every price range. Each vendor displays up to 50 items. Everyone attending the craft fair this year will receive a discount voucher to use at the new arts boutique inside Kariton Art Gallery. The shop allows visitors to sell and purchase handcrafted artwork all year round. The Christmas Craft Fair runs Nov. 26-28 inside the Ag-Rec Building at Abbotsford Exhibition Park, 32470 Haida Dr. Admission is by donation. Donations to the Abbotsford Food Bank will also be accepted at the event. The third annual West Coast Christmas Show returns to the Tradex building this weekend as well. More than 130 vendors will offer a wide range of holiday decor items and gifts including jewelry, toys, skin care and specialty food products. This year, the show has added a new artisan select category featuring crafter products such as children’s clothing. Live performances on the Sounds of the Holidays Stage will feature Flamenco renditions with Doug Towle, saxophone group The Royal Heirs and concert pianist Bob Brooks. Wandering carol sing-

ers Amy Newman & the Christmas Revelers will also perform throughout the venue. Complimentary cheese seminars by the Dairy Farmers of Canada and interactive demos by Chef Anthony Sedlak, host of the Food Network’s The Main, are a popular highlight of the event. Last year, the show attracted 13,247 visitors and organizers are expecting more than 15,000 people to attend this weekend. Admission to the West Coast Christmas Show is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for youth, and free for chil-

dren nine and under. Entry is half price on Friday and Sunday morning before noon.

Ten Thousand Villages Church hosts sale of fair-trade crafts Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Abbotsford hosts its annual Ten Thousand Villages Christmas Sale from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. This year’s sale, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, will focus on arts and crafts from Caribbean and Latin American countries, including Guatemala. The church is located at 3471 Clearbrook Rd. Ten Thousand Villages sells fair-trade crafts at locations across North America. Anne Sawatzky, a Ten Thousand Villages volunteer, travelled to Guatemala in 2007 with her husband and two youngest sons. While there, she visited one of the Ten Thousand Villages artisan groups,

Creaciones Chonita, which supports 100 widows in making beaded jewlery and crocheted hacky sacks. Sawatzky met Chonita Sojuel Mendosa, the founder of the group who had lost her husband in civil war. Mendosa told her how Creaciones Chonita makes a difference in the lives of the women involved. “As I listened to her story, my eyes were welling up with tears,” Sawatzky said. “This woman’s husband had been brutally killed, along with hundreds of others in the village. She had the courage and determination to help others.” Because of the women’s work, their village was finally getting a school. For more information, visit tenthousandvillages.ca.

Anne Sawatzky looks on as Chonita Sojuel Mendosa shows her some of the handicrafts made by widows working for the artisan group Creaciones Chonita.

Ruth Derksen Siemens will be reading from her book Remember Us, Letters from Stalin’s Gulag, and showing parts of the accompanying film Through the Red Gate at the House of James coffeehouse on Emerson Street in Abbotsford this Saturday, Nov. 27. Remember Us is the story of how 463 letters were clandestinely carried out of the Soviet Union and mailed to a small town in Saskatchewan between the years 1930 and 1937. The letters offer a rare glimpse into the bleakest chapter in the Soviet Union’s history. They open a previously obscured window into both the day-to-day existence in Stalin’s camps and the suffering of oppressed people in their home villages.

The Hamilton, Ont. native has brought his brand of soulful folkrock to audiences across Canada and the United States over the past eight years. investigations, said the society has already seized dogs this week which were being kept outside without proper shelter. “People tend to think that because a dog has fur, or is used to living outside, he’ll be OK, but that’s a fatal assumption and it could cost your dog his life.” One of the most

tragic cases in recent memory involved a cruelty investigation in Prince George where three dogs were being kept outside in sub-zero temperatures , with one of the dogs already dead in his outdoor kennel. A second dog was found huddled in a barren dog house suffering from a bladder infection because she

wouldn’t leave the dog house to urinate. Drever adds that farm animals are also susceptible to the weather and should be brought into the barn when the temperature drops. Animals expend more energy in cold weather so it’s also a good idea to increase the food they are given.

event on Dec. 2 at the Tradex exhibition centre. The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. “For attendees and exhibitors, it’s a good resource for both of them,” said show manager Cheryl Grenick. ”It really gives people a better

idea of all the different options that are available. Regardless of whether they’re looking to get hired on or to get information about pursuing something else, this is the event to be at.” One of the largest career fairs of its kind,

the industry showcase opens the doors to employment opportunities that attendees may not have considered before. Grenick said more employers are participating in the fair in an effort to recruit new workers. “Just being able to

get their information out to the general public is a huge plus, especially in times where companies are struggling and they don’t have a lot of money to put into advertising,” she said. Highlights at the

fair include trade and technology seminars as well as 90 exhibits from post-secondary institutions, government agencies, employers, and professional associations from across Canada, the U.S. and overseas. This year, there will

also be interactive exhibits featuring airplanes and vehicles. General admission is $5, cash only. Secondary students in Grades 10-12 and community organizations are free with advanced registration and ticket requests.

In many ways, the Abbotsford Heat and Manitoba Moose are mirror images this season. The AHL North Division rivals each have rosters laden with youth – the Heat have 10 rookies, the Moose nine – and both teams rely heavily on those youngsters for offensive production. For any elite high school athlete, sifting through scholarship offers and making the best decision is an arduous process. For multi-sport jocks, that task is exponentially more difficult. That’s the situation Tyler Koslowsky found himself in as he began his Grade 12 year at Mennonite Educational Institute. Koslowsky is best-known locally as a baseball player – he was the star shortstop and leadoff hitter for the Abbotsford Cardinals of the B.C. Premier Baseball League. But the 17-year-old also happens to excel at volleyball – the 5’11” setter was a first team all-star at AA provincials in 2009 as the MEI Eagles won their seventh title in eight years. Ultimately, Koslowsky decided to cast his lot with volleyball, signing a letter of intent last week to play for the Trinity Western Spartans. “I’m sure going to miss baseball, because it’s been a part of my life for 13 or 14

Expansion plans for city basketball tournament Dan KINVIG

addition to the seniors. “We’re expecting between 40 and 50 teams,” said Const. Derek Baker, a member of the organizing committee. “Almost every team in Abbotsford is going to be involved. “This has the potential to become an amazing community event. Abbotsford is a basketball hotbed at the high school level, and everyone I speak to, there’s excitement.”

Abbotsford News

Bigger and better is the theme for the second annual Abbotsford Police City Basketball Tournament. Last year’s inaugural event featured local Grade 12 boys and girls teams. The scope has greatly expanded for this year’s tourney (Dec. 9-11), featuring teams at the Grade 8 and Grade 10 levels in

The city hoops tournament used to be a fixture on the local sporting calendar, but it fell by the wayside in recent years. The police department spearheaded its resurrection last fall, and the event is expanding this year behind increased corporate sponsorship, led by Abbotsford’s Tsang Dental Group. “We want to do whatever we can to support the community,” said Dr. Gratio Tsang, who

say, ‘Choose a crime-free lifestyle,’” Baker said. “But this is an opportunity to put our money where our mouth is, and provide kids an outlet to be involved in something positive.” The event tips off Thursday, Dec. 9 and wraps up Saturday, Dec. 11. The finals will be held at Columbia Bible College on the Saturday, beginning with the Grade 8 girls at 11 a.m. and finishing with the senior boys at 7:15 p.m.

got involved with the tournament through his work with the Abbotsford Police Foundation. The financial backing will add more scholarship opportunities for Grade 12 athletes. Last year, the police awarded two scholarships worth $500. This year, Baker is hoping to expand to 10. The tournament is a way for the police to build bridges with local youth. “It’s easy for us to sit here and

But firm offers were slow to materialize, and Koslowsky began to sense that he was making a mental transition from being a baseball guy to a fullfledged volleyballer. “In the past, I would have said my passion was baseball,” he said. “But lately, especially through fall ball and Team B.C., it was a struggle for me to force myself to go out to the field. But going to the gym (for volleyball), I was excited. “One day when I was going to a camp at Trinity, my mom saw me skipping around the house. But for baseball, she had to pull me out of bed in the morning.” With the Spartans, Koslowsky will switch from setter to libero – the defensive specialist position. Before he embarks on his CIS career, Koslowsky still has some work to do with the Eagles, who are seeded No. 2 heading into the provincial AA championships in Kelowna next week. Top-ranked W.L. Seaton of Vernon beat MEI at a tourney in late October, but Koslowsky is quick to point out that standout middle Connor Nickel was out of the lineup for that game. With Nickel, Koslowsky feels his team is tough to beat. “You can really tell the difference when we have his presence in the middle,” Koslowsky said. “The other team has to stay in the middle to block, and it opens up a lot of holes. “The Fraser Valley final last Friday (against No. 3-ranked Langley Fundamental) was probably the best game we’ve played all season. If we play like that, I don’t think anybody’s going to stop us at provincials.”

Realtors crank up blanket drive With predictions that this winter will be the coldest and wettest in 50 years, and with the number of homeless people on the rise in the Lower Mainland, the need for the annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive could be at its highest in its 16-year history. The blanket drive runs Nov. 29 to Dec. 6 at over 100 real estate offices across the region, collecting blankets, bedding and warm and waterproof clothing for the homeless and working poor. Over 30 charities from Whistler to Chilliwack receive, on average, more than 4,000 bags of gentlyused or new items donated by realtors, their clients and the public. Earlier this year, the City of Vancouver announced that the homeless count in Vancouver

has increased 12 per cent since 2008. Also, meteorologists are calling for a La Niña weather cycle this winter, meaning colder-than-normal temperatures and heavier precipitation. “Add to that, the economy is still in recovery,” said Jake Moldowan, president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. “So for all of those reasons, there’s a huge need for warm clothing and blankets for vulnerable people in our communities,” he said. “Charities will need even more donations if they’re to adequately respond to the perfect storm of a recovering economy, an anticipated tough winter and increased homelessness.” Deanna Horn, president, Fraser Valley Real Estate Board,

encourages the public to donate the best quality of items that they can – both gently-used and new. “Our charities give us wishlists,” she said. “People coming in from the streets are looking for warm winter coats, sleeping bags, hoodies, toques and gloves. Community service clients are looking for blankets, bed sheets and everyday clothing for themselves and their children that they otherwise just can’t afford.” Donations to the blanket drive stay within the communities in which they are donated, or if the volumes are too large, go to charities in greatest need in neighbouring communities. I was born and raised here in Abbotsford. I grew up on a farm in Mt. Lehman – and helped my dad and mom build spec homes locally through the 70s and early 80s. My family has watched this town grow from the small farming community it once was to the city it’s becoming today. When looking for a realtor to work with in today’s busy and competitive market, it’s important to choose someone who knows the history of the area, who understands the “whys” and the “hows” and can help you navigate the highs and the lows of buying and selling a house. If you’re like most, a home is the largest and most important investment you’ll ever make. It’s my job to provide you with the support, the information and the know-how that will help you make the best decision for you and for your family.

I was born and raised in Abbotsford, where my father was a Realtor for many years. In 2002 I was given the opportunity to join him and we worked as a team until his retirement. I am a full time Realtor with Landmark Realty and enjoy spending my free time coaching my daughters in hockey and baseball. I am grateful for the opportunity to have met and worked with so many great clients and look forward to many more years of providing them with honest reliable service.

I was born and raised on a farm in Abbotsford and have lived here all my life. I’ve been very fortunate to have a well rounded career that has given me the tools to become a successful Realtor today. I worked in construction for a few years after graduation and then moved on to many years of sales at Blackwood Building Center. This is where I met a lot of great people and learned more about the building industry. After Blackwood’s I moved on to Agricultural Equipment and Sales industry where I met more great people over the next years. All the while I owned and ran my own poultry farm. I went on to help manage a large farming operation for a friend which included many types of poultry farms, hatcheries, organic dairy and a Sawdust supply trucking company. Real Estate seemed like a great fit for me so I got my real estate license and started selling homes and farms in 2004. My experience and hard work ethics has helped me to become one of Fraser Valley’s Top Realtors, becoming a Medallion Club award winner as well as receiving the Re/Max Hall of Fame Award. I believe that honesty and integrity will always bring you positive results and look forward to many years of meeting old friends and making new ones.
