Skydiving There’s nothing like free-falling with a view of the sprawling Fraser Valley, making Abbotsford a fantastic place to skydive. The Abbotsford Parachute Centre offers jumps and lessons for experienced jumpers and firsttimers. Free-fall photography makes it even more memorable. It’s open seven days a week from March to October.
Waterskiing and wakeboarding Albert Dyck Park on Walmsley Road is a hub for waterskiing and wakeboarding in the summer. It was the waterski and wakeboard venue for the 2009 World Police and Fire Games and has hosted the Western Waterski Championships numerous times as well as the National Waterski
Championships. The watersports are spectator-only, although the lake is accessible for swimming. Horseback riding Abbotsford has a long list of locations for equestrian enthusiasts to fulfill their love for horses. From lessons for beginners to horse camps, check out www.equinenow.com. Recreation Exhibition Park features a cricket
pitch, a trio of fields where Abbotsford’s hugely successful minor soccer teams play, and a quartet of ball diamonds for slo-pitch and baseball. If terms like ollie and kick flip are more your thing, check out the $500,000 skateboard park at Abbotsford Recreation Centre, 34890 Old Yale Road. It’s one of the best in the province.
