It’s an average year for the Abbotsford Community Services’ (ACS) Food Bank and Christmas Bureau, except in a couple of areas, says co-ordinator Dave Murray. He said one of these is the price of food, which has gone up substantially compared to previous years. Murray compared what he has paid in previous years for items to stock the shelves. “I’m finding even with my hardball negotiating, I’m not even getting close (this year).” The food bank – which doubles as the Christmas Bureau at this time of year – uses cash donations to make bulk purchases of supplies such as flour, sugar and peanut butter. Murray said another area in which the service has experienced a hike is with the number of elderly clients. “The number of applications for seniors this year is more than we’ve ever seen.” Murray said this can be attributed to tough economic times combined with more awareness about the food bank and the programs if offers. This includes partnering with the Meals on Wheels program to buy and dis-
donations of new unwrapped toys and other gifts. Murray said gifts for teens are always needed, and these can include gift cards, DVDs, CDs, electronics, and makeup sets for girls. Families in need of support are encouraged to register as soon as possible. The organization also offers the “sponsor a family” program. Meanwhile, the Salvation Army has begun its Red Kettle campaign, setting up at 13 locations in Abbotsford and Mission. Volunteers are still needed. Those interested can call the Kettle Hotline at 604-309-0660. The agency also runs the “sponsor a family” program, as well as the Angel Tree program at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre. PORN TRIAL A decision is expected Wednesday on whether an Abbotsford man is guilty of making child pornography available to others. Christopher Robert Lamb, 27, will appear in Chilliwack Supreme Court. He previously pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of child pornography, while Crown counsel stayed charges of possession for the purpose of distribution. He pleaded not guilty to making child porn available through the LimeWire file sharing program, and his trial was held last week. Lamb was one of 50 people arrested in March 2009 as part of Project Salvo.

Police on June 13 at a home in the 1000 block of Ross Road. The robberies took place at three or four small local businesses. The suspect produced a weapon, such as a knife or a screwdriver, and demanded cash. Chaffey is best known for a November 2003 escape in which he vaulted over the top of a fivefoot-high prisoner’s dock during an appearance in the Abbotsford courthouse. He commandeered a van and fled the scene, but was arrested two days later after jumping in the Vedder River in an attempt to flee from police.

She said 80 per cent of these women have children, although not all of them have custody. For those who don’t, their top priority is to get into a position where they can provide a home for their

children again. Also showing the local need, women from the eastern Fraser Valley were showing up in increasing numbers at the Surrey shelters, where there are two facilities that have 26 beds. If not outright homeless, many of these women are “resourceless,” said Bayes. The clients will stay at the Firth Residence for up to 18 months. They will each get a unit that is 275 to 300 square feet, with a small fridge, kettle and microwave in
the kitchen area, and their own bathroom. Each day there will be a continental breakfast, and one hot meal will likely be supplied by Rivers Restaurant, although those details are not yet set. They will have time to secure employment, get education upgrading, take care of unpaid bills and save money for utility deposits. There will be parenting help, and support groups. The society hopes to open the Firth Residence early in the new year.

Video suspects ID’d Abbotsford Police have identified two suspects caught on surveillance video released to the public last week. One was of a man who stole the purse of a patient waiting for a bed at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. The second was of a woman who used stolen ID to withdraw $8,000 in funds from two banks. Const. Ian MacDonald said neither suspect has yet been arrested. Both have laid low since their images hit the media, but police are still gathering evidence. MacDonald said the female fraudster has been linked to simi-
lar crimes in other communities. Police believe the woman is part of an identity-theft fraud ring based in Abbotsford. The video images show her as she withdrew cash from two Bank of Montreal branches in Maple Ridge and New Westminster, using ID stolen in July from Susan Jones of Abbotsford. Video of the purse thief was taken Oct. 26, but was released last week after attempts to identify him had been exhausted. The purse was stolen from a 20-year-old woman as she slept on a hospital hallway bed while waiting for a room.

There are many restaurants and lots of things going on. There seems to be a lot in the way of art and culture. People are friendly. The public transportation is excellent and at a reasonable price, and it is easy enough to get around. And finally, it is situated at just the right distance to the big city of Vancouver, and a hop, skip and a jump to the American border. Abbotsford is my new hometown.
The News: Hi Glenda. Your entry says you were researching on the internet about a new place to live and chose Abbotsford. What made Abbotsford seem attractive? Glenda: We had lived for the last three years in a small town in Alberta. We knew it was not the place for us. I had once lived in Victoria and knew that most likely the place for us would be somewhere in southern B.C. We wanted to live in a city again, but nothing too big or too small. Abbotsford seemed to fit that profile. Of course, we needed a home where there was some chance of employment, somewhere with shopping malls, some theatre and restaurants and things going on, somewhere scenic, and somewhere where it is warm most of the time.
The News: What motivated you to enter the contest?
Glenda: As soon as I caught a glimpse of the ad for the contest in your newspaper, I told myself that I have to enter this sometime, when I get a chance. My husband and I had just moved here, and it seemed to me that the name of the contest was so appropriate to our situation.
The News: What do you do in your spare time here?
Glenda: I like to read, garden, and walk in the great outdoors of Abbotsford. I draw, and like to try my hand at creative writing when I get a chance.
The News: Where are you from originally, and how did that compare with the Abbotsford area?

Two victims of HST Politics in B.C. has always been a take-no-prisoners bloodsport. For proof, one need look no further than the bookend resignations of Gordon Campbell and Carole James. Neither wanted to give up their posts as Liberal and NDP leaders; both were forced out by a small band of dissidents and provincial polling that suggested they had outstayed their welcome. No one said the job of party leader would be easy but it’s particularly tough in B.C., where politics are polarized and elections are fought like mixed martial arts battles. Leaders need the confidence of 100 per cent of their caucus, not 84 per cent, which is roughly what both James and Campbell had toward the end. The two deserve credit for showing leadership where it was needed by stepping down early enough in the election cycle for the two parties to rebuild, and the province benefited from both their strengths. Campbell was innovative and made some great
leaps forward in acknowledging climate change and the steps needed to reverse it; James was collaborative and willing to reach out to sectors not usually friends of NDP, such as small business. But both faced challenges from insiders who felt a new brand was necessary for the parties to revive before the May 2013 election. James was criticized for being dull, unimaginative and slow to take advantage of Liberal gaffes; Campbell was denounced as out of touch and dictatorial. In the final analysis, some may say Carole James was as much a victim of the harmonized sales tax decision as Gordon Campbell. She failed to gain mileage from this much-hated public policy compared to Bill Vander Zalm, who managed to revive his reputation. Now, B.C. voters will finally have their say on the HST and a new political era. But don’t expect politics in Lotusland to get any less nasty. – Black Press

Other Hand It was one of ‘those’ mornings, up long before the dawn even thought of cracking. The dog gave me a ‘where’s the fire’ look as I turfed her outside on the way to collect my morning paper, which I knew I’d only have a minute or two to scan before it was time to hit the shower. And hit it I did, in such a rush that I didn’t wait for the water to warm. Not a good start made worse by causing, in an effort to avoid the chilling spray, the huge Costco bottle of shampoo to crash from the top shelf onto my foot. As is always the case, things come in threes, and as I shaved in abnormal haste, I nicked my neck right where the collar of my shirt would soon need to be. Finally, and still in the dark, I rolled
out of the yard and off to my rendezvous. A couple of hours later, taking a break before the cause of my calamitous adventure began, my friend asked with a smile how it was going. “I’m not a morning person” was my first response, met with a knowing smirk. The early bird gets the worm, suggested he with a grin. At the time of my awakening, no worm would have been topside, and any bird stupid enough to be out rooting around for one would have soon found itself breakfast for a night-loving owl. At least my morning, despite its rocky beginnings, ended well. Not so for the NDP. For Carole James and her cohort, there have been a lot of dark mornings, and even darker days. Politics in British Columbia has always registered near the top of the crazy scale. Yet, despite what appeared to be an easy ‘keep our mouths shut and our eyes open’ route to forming the next government, the NDP has found a way to make it even more preposterous. Why on Earth would a group of people who looked to have their future
in the bag, who appeared to have been handed a golden opportunity to rule, carelessly toss it in the toilet? The posturing of the leader, who ‘drew a line in the sand’ only to just as quickly obliterate it, is almost as comical as the attempts of the baker’s dozen

What a mess, and what a way to demonstrate the premise that “we are a government in waiting.” The current Liberal leadership race may cause some fractures in the party but there is nothing of the seismic cataclysm that faces the opposition ranks. Even the threat of recall, which
became reality today in Oak Bay and engineered by the guy who already caused one party to disappear from the face of B.C. politics, isn’t tarnishing the government. It may even bring people together behind the Liberals, seen simply as an expensive taxpayer-funded exercise designed for only two purposes – to enhance Vander Zalm’s revived ambitions of grandeur, and bolster the NDP’s chances of gaining another seat within a currently chaotic party. Fighting the HST is one thing, trying to oust an MLA for no other reason than political gain or personal aggrandizement is quite another. Regardless, until this issue, the infighting of the NDP and the Liberal leadership is settled, there will be a great many very early mornings and a lot of cut throats before the current and impending rifts can be healed. The governance of this province can then assume its usual normalcy which, like my early morning adventures, is even at the best of times a bit of a gong show.

Some people seem to hate the HST. The HST (12 per cent) is a much fairer system than the old GST (five per cent) and PST (seven per cent) combination. (Wow, that adds up to 12 per cent, too!) The tax rate you pay is the same on most items, but is much easier and cheaper for business and government to administer. The news media has been full of comments lately about the evils of Gordon Campbell and the BC Liberals. People are screaming “throw the bums out,� “they have ruined our province,� and “the BC Liberals must be punished.� One thing I hear over and over is that they have cut education funding. The fact is since the B.C. Liberals came to power 10 years ago, they have increased funding to B.C. public schools by $1.3 billion while enrolment has fallen almost every single year. I also hear people squawking about cuts to health care. In 2001 our B.C. health care budget was $9.2 billion. In 2010, it is $14.1 billion. That is an increase of over 53 per cent. In the last 10 years, the B.C. government has also got a good start

In response to the open letter by Bishop Ingham, I think it is time for him to stop harassing these people and let them go. Although it appears for the moment that the New Westminster diocese may have the legal right to turn these people out of their home, it is still not the right thing to do. History has seen landlords turf people out, but the oddity here is that the tenants actually bought and paid for the property themselves. The congregation of Saint Matthew’s only wants to go on faithfully following what is good and honest and fair. Bishop Ingham should respect that. It has been said that adversity is a test of character. A better test is to give someone a little power and see how they use it. There is a gracious way to go forward. Let the congregation stay in their own home. Michael Murdock

A body found in a remote area west of Chilliwack has been identified by police as Dale Edward Koenders, a sex offender who had been unlawfully at large since July and was apparently spotted in Abbotsford over the summer. An autopsy has indicated there was no evidence of foul play. Chilliwack RCMP were called on Nov. 25 to the 43800 block of Production Way, a wooded area near the base of Chilliwack Mountain, after reports that a body was found. Dental records confir med the remains were those of Koenders, who had failed to return to the Chilliwack Correctional Centre on July 8. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for the arrest of the 46-yearold at the time. Abbotsford Police were among the authorities who issued warnings about Koenders being on the lam. In early August, police received reports from people saying they had seen Koenders in Abbotsford. Koenders was serving an indeterminate sentence, dating back to a violent sex assault in Chemainus, B.C. in 1986. He forced his way into the home of a 19-year-old woman, and was convicted of sex assault with a weapon. He was designated as a dangerous offender. He was on day parole at the time of his disappearance.

Snow & Ice Control The goal of the City’s Snow and Ice Control Program is to maintain travel routes where there is snow and ice on roads and restore mobility for the traveling public. Our roads are classi¿ed: • ¿rst priority (high volume and strategic arterial and collector roads, and major access roads to hillside areas); • second priority (remaining arterial, hillside areas and collector routes); and • third priority (remaining roadways not identi¿ed as ¿rst and second priority). First priority roads are maintained until conditions are under control subject to worker/equipment availability and weather. Only then are resources redirected to second priority routes and subsequently third priority routes. The City of Abbotsford operates three anti-icing units (tanks containing sodium chloride solution) on four-lane roads and rural priority roads. The units are used to spray road surfaces before and during a storm. Anti-icing helps keep roads ice free and improves snow removal. The City does not remove snow and ice to bare pavement conditions. The public is encouraged to use caution, and wherever possible, park vehicles off the streets. Abandoned vehicles or vehicles obstructing roadways will be towed and towing costs will be the responsibility of the vehicle owners. Preteen Extreme is offered through West Abbotsford Community School Society with funding from Coast Capital Savings Credit Union. The free program is open to kids in Grades 4 to 7 and includes games, activities and special events such as dodgeball, swimming and bowling. The children have a say in the activities with their own Preteen Council, and staff ensure the activities come to life. “It provides purpose for a lot of kids,” said Pierre Welbedagt, executive director. “These preteens learn leadership and goal setting, and ultimately stay away from crime and drugs because we capture them in this safe and caring program.” The program is offered three times a week – Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. – from now until June. There are seven participating schools, including five elementaries – Roberta Bondar, Clearbrook, John Maclure Community, TenBroeck and Terry Fox – and two middle schools, Howe and Chief Dan George. Those in attendance at the official opening included Minister of Children and Family Development Mary Polak, Mayor George Peary and Korky Neufeld, vice-chair of the board of education. Program supervisor Louise Smith said New Beginnings has the largest high school completion program in the province. She attributed this to a “welcoming, supportive environment which meets the unique needs of a range of young parents.” New Beginnings students were also on hand at the opening.
“I love this new space. We walk in and the whole building is for New Beginnings. My daughter is just down the hallway from my classroom, instead of across the parking lot, and we have lockers now,” said Nattalie, 19, mom of 18-month-old Lexus. New Beginnings operates in partnership with Abbotsford Community Services, the Abbotsford school district, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Approximately 70 young parents and their children come through the doors each year. W. J. Mouat Secondary is located at 32355 Mouat Drive, just west of Trethewey Street.

Students honoured
The Abbotsford Kumon Math and Reading Centres of Clearbrook and east Abbotsford honoured their students at their annual student achievement event recently. As the Abbotsford Kumon Centres’ highest honours, these awards recognize students for academic and personal achievements throughout the year. “The students, parents and the centre staff come together to honour our exemplary students,” said Shirley Tam, instructor and owner of the
two Kumon Centres. “I like to honour students not only for reaching the Advanced Student Honour Roll and studying challenging material but also for showing dedication to daily Kumon practice.” The commitment award is one of the many trophies and certificates handed out at the ceremony each year, but this year students were also asked to give back. The Kumon Centres incorporated a food drive to benefit the local food bank into the event. Almost all students brought donations for the food bank. “Our students are remarkable young people, and our community will benefit from their donations today as well as their future good deeds as they mature into accomKumon math and reading centres honoured their plished adults,” students who achieved at the highest levels. Tam said.
It’s not every day that a science class inspires a fundraiser, but that’s exactly what happened in Ron Peters’ Grade 8 science class at MEI Middle School in Abbotsford. As part of their studies on water cycles, Peters discussed the flooding in Pakistan and the devastation left behind. “When teachers give students an opportunity to explore issues that people are dealing with right at that moment, even half a world away, then the classroom learning becomes much more meaningful,” he said. Peters challenged his students to consider how they might respond to those in need in Pakistan, and Becca Carsience had an idea. “I volunteered my idea for a talent show,” she said. “Mr. Peters liked the idea and so he put me in charge.” She arranged for an “MEI’s Got Talent” type show at the school. Students paid $10 to participate but performance was not the only way to be involved. “We had a bake sale to show cooking talents, an art auction to show artistic talents and a jelly bean count that people had to pay $1 to guess – just because it’s fun!” she said. Halfway through the performances an offering was also taken. In total, the event raised $1,567.23, which will be used to provide relief kits, shelter, food and medical care for those who have been affected by the flooding. MCC BC executive director Wayne Bremner

A new era of mobility begins with no gas, no tailpipe, and five passenger EV The 2011 Nissan LEAF™, the world’s first affordable, zero-emission car, ushers in a new era of mobility – the “no gas, no tailpipe” zeroemission era. Designed specifically for a Lithiumion battery-powered chassis, the Nissan LEAF is a medium-size hatchback that comfortably seats five adults and has a range of 160 kilometres (U.S. LA4 cycle) on one full charge to satisfy realworld consumer requirements. The all-new Nissan LEAF is powered by 48 laminated compact Lithium-ion battery modules and a high-response 80kW AC synchronous motor that generates 107 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, providing a highly responsive, funto-drive experience that is in keeping with what consumers have come to expect from traditional, gasoline-powered vehicles. Unlike internal-combustion engine-equipped vehicles, LEAF’s powertrain has no tailpipe and thus no emission of CO2 or other greenhouse gases while being driven. The Nissan LEAF can be charged up to 80% of its full capacity in 30 minutes when equipped with a quick charge port and using a DC fast charger. Charging at home through a 240V outlet is estimated to take
approximately eight hours. The advanced Lithiumion battery pack carries an industry-competitive warranty of 8 years or 160,000 kilometres. “There’s little debate on the need to reduce vehicle emissions in the future. Nissan is taking an aggressive approach to establishing leadership in zero-emission vehicles, with the LEAF being our first effort,” said Allen Childs, President, Nissan Canada, Inc. (NNA). “However, we’re not doing this solely to meet regulations or to wrap the Nissan brand in a green halo. We’re producing the Nissan LEAF because it makes good sense to Nissan and to our customers.” “To reach a larger audience, beyond the early adopters and green-intenders, we must get the right product. Consumers do not want to compromise on space, driving enjoyment or technology features,” he added. “So, we’ve developed the Nissan LEAF to offer stimulating acceleration performance and a quiet, refined interior with the latest amenities and room for five adults while still carrying cargo – all in a vehicle that is totally electric, produces zero carbon emissions while driving and has up to 160 kilometres of range.”

Alyssa Gaukel has had bigger games, statistically speaking, but the fifth-year University of the Fraser Valley forward’s crunch-time performance against the Trinity Western Spartans on Friday night was the finest moment of her career. That’s the estimation of none other than UFV women’s basketball coach Al Tuchscherer, who has had a courtside seat as Gaukel exploded for nine consecutive points over the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to turn a late deficit into a 68-65 victory. Gaukel’s scoring outburst powered the Cascades to a weekend sweep of the Spartans at the Langley Events Centre – they also won 67-56 on Saturday – and leveled UFV’s record at 6-6 heading into the Christmas break. “There was never a time where I thought we were going to lose the game,” GAUKEL Gaukel said. “We just had to get it done, so I decided to take leadership and go for it.” Gaukel’s points came in a wide variety of ways. First she hit a layup, then a threepointer, then made four consecutive free throws. UFV had trailed 57-55 when she started her scoring binge. They led 66-62 when she was done. “I’m really proud of Alyssa,” Tuchscherer said. “She’s in her fifth year, and it’s nice to see her assert herself.” On Friday, the Cascades overcame a huge game from Abbotsford native Corina Reimer. The Spartans centre had 21 points, 13 rebounds and tied her own school record with five blocks. But the Cascades rallied by switching to a small, quick lineup, and they went small-ball from the outset on Saturday en route to a more comfortable victory. Q In a roundabout way, the Cascades men’s hoopsters’ twin losses to the Spartans offered Abbotsford basketball fans a reason to celebrate. Heat finally getting healthy The Abbotsford Heat, limping back home after a winless road trip, received some good news on Monday morning. The presence of Matt Pelech and Carter Bancks at practice was a welcome sign for the injuryravaged AHL club. That both players were wearing standardissue practice jerseys, rather than yellow nonBANCKS contact garb, suggested their return is imminent. Afterward, Heat head coach Jim Playfair said that full participation in practice was the final hurdle for Pelech and Bancks as they work their way back from upper-body injuries. They’ll be re-evaluated Tuesday morning, and the expectation is they’ll be cleared for Tuesday evening’s home game against the Lake Erie Monsters. The Heat have sorely missed the disagreeable disposition of blueliner Pelech, who has missed the past 17 games. Heading into the provincial AA volleyball championships in Kelowna, bronze wasn’t the medal the Mennonite Educational Institute senior boys were dreaming of. The Eagles had won five consecutive AA titles, and seven in the last eight years, but their gold medal dreams were dashed in heartbreaking fashion
with a five-set loss to Langley Fundamental in the semifinals. MEI regrouped and defeated George Elliott of Winfield in four sets (25-14, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20) in the thirdplace game. While it’s hard to quibble with a podium finish, the Eagles clearly had envisioned better. “It’s always nice to win your last game,” said Eagles coach Jeff Stel, whose team had come into the tournament ranked No. 2. “But you’re naturally going to be disappointed about not getting to the final. “The guys came out really well in the bronze medal game and really fought to win it, though.” Just two weeks ago, the Eagles had swept Langley Fundamental in straight sets in the Fraser Valley title game, but the Titans put together what Stel termed “a perfect game” in Friday evening’s semifinal. In a back-and-forth match, the Eagles led 8-3 in the fifth set, but the Titans came roaring back back to win 15-13. Langley Fundamental went on to lose to top-seeded W.L. Seaton of Vernon in the gold medal game. “We had a very good game, but it wasn’t quite enough to overcome what they had,” Stel said. “They passed extremely well, and they were efficient with their hitting.” MEI setter Tyler Koslowsky and middle Connor Nickel were named provincial first team all-stars, while outside hitters Jeremy Lieuwen and Dillon Peters were secondteam and honourable mention all-stars, respectively. Ice is a problem that plagues drivers when the temperature drops. While some ice can be detected on the roadway, thin sheets of ice blend in with the asphalt and are known as “black ice.” Black ice can be undetectable until a car begins to skid. Many people have trouble driving on icy roads. In fact, winter conditions often lead to accidents. More than 500 fatalities were attributed to snowy, icy roads in the 2008-2009 winter season in the U.S. It is important to make some modifications to a vehicle if driving on ice will be commonplace this season. At the least, proper tire inflation is important to maintain traction. Tires should also be checked for tread, as bald tires will do little to grip the road. Individuals who want even more protection should consider switching to snow tires for the winter. These tires are made from a softer rubber so they can better grip the road. They may also feature a different tire tread for even more traction. Snow chains can be used to offer greater grip. However, speeds will have to be greatly reduced when chains are in place. Reducing speed is helpful when driving in an inclement condition, including on ice. It helps a driver to better correct a situation and react. If skidding is experienced, gently steer in the direction of the skid without applying the brakes. When traction is resumed, slow down and correct the car. 12-10T EAM7

BEHMER, Mathilde Mrs. Mathilde Behmer late of Abbotsford, BC passed away on December 3, 2010 at the age of 79 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. She is survived by her children: Doris (Larry) Prause, Remona (Brian) Eklund, Erich (Kevina) Behmer, Alfred (Michelle) Behmer; and grandchildren: Heidi (Mike), Nicole (Nick), Randy, Michelle, Derek and Kyle. She was predeceased by her husband Erich Behmer. Mathilde enjoyed cooking, baking and being with the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC. It is with regret that the family of Vagn Kongensgaard Christensen announces his passing, following a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Vagn was born in Dover Udby, Denmark on April 1, 1932 to Anna and Aage Christensen. He spent a happy childhood as the eldest of four siblings. Vagn moved to Copenhagen, where he met his sweetheart Lise Mortensen. He completed his apprenticeship as a baker before he immigrated to Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1957. The following year Lise came to Canada and they were married on Lise’s 21st birthday July 25, 1958. Vagn continued to work in his trade as a baker at different places in Saskatchewan and Alberta. In 1967 he felt that he needed a changed and started long haul truck driving. He loved the freedom of being on the road. They moved to Abbotsford where Vagn continued working for the same company until he retired at the age of 65. Vagn had a passion for his Harley Davidson motorcycles, camping with their motor home and their beloved dogs Pepper and Misty. Vagn and Lise made several trips to Denmark to visit family and to the farm in Saskatchewan to visit his sister-in-law Dorothy (Gordon) and his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Vagn is survived by his wife of 52 years Lise Christensen (Mortensen); brother Hans Kongensgaard Christensen (Denmark); sisters-in-law Ingrid Kongensgaard (Borge) Denmark and Dorothy (Gordon) Hardenne of Shaunavon, Sk; aunt Erna Jensen of Bellingham. Vagn was predeceased by his parents Anna & Aage, his sister Maja and brother Borge. Uncle Vagn will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews in Denmark, Sask. and BC as well as his cousins in Bellingham and Denmark.
