In this issue of Just for Kids, you’ll read about The Salvation Army Brighter Futures program, which helps kids all over the world access proper schooling and all the materials they need to learn. You will also see photos of kids in our territory helping to raise money for Salvation Army programs through awesome fundraisers such as lemonade and juice stands!
he Salvation Army knows that good education is so important for kids. We want them to be successful! That’s why we have the Brighter Futures program, which provides children and youth across the world with education and school programs, healthcare, and equal opportunities for girls and Thinkboys.about all the school supplies you need for your first day—backpacks, lunch bags, sneakers, paper, pencils, clothing. The Salvation Army provides children worldwide with back-to-school basics like backpacks, textbooks and school uniforms. They also make sure that students have clean water and nutrition programs to stay healthy and happy while they learn.
Whether you are returning to school online or in person this year, I wish you good luck!
A lot of students in Canada did school online during the COVID-19 pandemic. We sat behind screens, unmuted our microphones and turned on our cameras to learn from home. But not everybody around the world could move to online school so easily. Children who live in rural areas of countries such as Sri Lanka and Zambia were often left out because they didn’t have laptops or internet.

What’s Happening, Canada and Bermuda?
carlette Fifield, Lincon Pittman and Lily Pittman from The Salvation Army Roberts Arm-Pilleys Island, N.L., wanted to help fundraise for Partners in Mission. They set up a “Juice for Missions” table to serve delicious juice to customers for a donation to The Salvation Army. What a fun day!

fter learning about The Salvation Army’s Partners in Mission campaign at Sunday school, Gavin and Ethan Tang from Haven of Hope Ministries in Regina helped their corps raise $500 by starting their own indoor lemonade stand. With muffins and lemonade on the menu, it was a huge success!

Your friend, Abby A man named Isaac lived in a land with very little food. One day, the Lord appeared to Isaac and told him to go and live in a new land. “I will be with you and give you My blessing,” said the Lord. “I will give all these lands to you and to your children. I will keep My word.”
making decisions is easy, such as choosing between pancakes or waffles (both delicious!). But other times, we’re faced with tough decisions that leave us confused or worried. The good news is that God is here to help us.
Isaac listened to God and went where he was told. He planted crops, grew plenty of food and became rich. He owned many wells for water and had so many animals and servants that the Philistines (the people who lived in the land) were jealous. They filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt and told him to leave! So, he left to find new land and dig new wells. “The water is ours!” said the Philistines. Every time Isaac dug a new well, they argued with him. Isaac dug one last well, and when the people noticed that the Lord was with Isaac and had blessed him, they stopped arguing with him. “We want to make peace with you,” they said. And so, they made peace and shared a feast together, and Isaac kept the water from his well.

O ne day, a man named Jacob got tired while on a long journey. The sun began to set, so he stopped to rest. He took a stone from the ground to use as a pillow, and he slept. While he was asleep, he had a dream. He saw a long stairway leading from the earth all the way up into heaven. There were angels going up and down the stairway, and the Lord stood beside it. He made a promise to Jacob, saying, “I am the Lord. I will give this land to you and your children. All nations on earth will be blessed by you.” Then the Lord said, “I am with you. I will watch over you everywhere you go.” When Jacob woke up, he thought, The Lord is surely in this place! And I didn’t even know it. So, Jacob made his own promise. He said, “May God be with me. May He watch over me on this journey. May He give me food and clothes to wear. May He do as He promised so that I can return home safely.”
HiSometimeskids! things don’t go according to plan. Like the time I woke up early to see a baseball game, got stuck in traffic and missed the first three innings. Or the time I left bird seed on the porch to watch the sparrows and cardinals, but squirrels ate it all what we have planned for ourselves, God’s plan is always greater. Hi Whenkids! was the last time you worried about something? Maybe you worried that you didn’t get a good grade on a test in school, or that you did something wrong and didn’t want to get in trouble. It’s normal to worry, but the Bible tells us that we can give all our anxieties and worries over to God and He will take care of us.

J acob and Esau were brothers who did not get along. Jacob tricked Esau into giving up his inheritance, and Esau plotted to hurt Jacob. So, Jacob ran away and lived with his uncle for many years. Later, God told Jacob to go home. “I will be with you,” He said. But Jacob worried that his brother would not be happy to see him. Someone told him that Esau was coming to get him and was bringing 400 Jacobmen!was afraid. He wanted to make peace with Esau, so he offered many sheep, camels,goats,donkeys and cows as a gift. Jacob sent servants ahead of him with the animals so that Esau would be happy and would welcome him. Jacob saw Esau and his 400 men coming. But when they saw each other again, Esau ran to Jacob and hugged him. They cried for joy because they made peace and were together again.
