Edi t orsLetter EditorsLetter Welcome to the April Edition of Your Child in Whittlesea, As I am writing this today, I can not believe how fast the year is already flying by! First term is over and we are already heading home for School Holidays. What do you all have planned for the holidays? Are you going away, after staying home for so long or are you going to enjoy the slow pass of being home and enjoying time with your children. The magazine this month has some great reading, on page 6 Making Learning #1, with some useful hints for mum and dad. We have an interesting article about Easter and Children, on page 8 and Half-Priced Discount ... Still Not Enough, will give all the mums reading a good laugh, this article can be found on page 18. A Childs’ Story, on page 20, is a beautiful, but sad story ... you might need your tissues, I did. Hannah has been out and about creating a new park adventure at Mill Park All Abiliteis Play Space, this month. The park is always a fantastic place to venture out to with your children over the school holidays, especially with all the lovely weather we have currently been enjoying. Hanging with Hannah can be found on page 10. Kids Corner is on page 24 and has a Easter Dot to Dot Puzzle to do. if you feel like cooking over the break, have a look at Kids Cooking Time where Mini Chef Ethan is making ANZAC Biscuits just in time for ANZAC Day, on page 25. What’s On this month - Nature Discovery Walk Sunday 10th April, with lots of special kids activities. Mill Park All Abili es Play Space Morang Drive, Mill Park
Hannah didn’t want to go to the park this month, she wanted to stay home and play, Ipad games ... un l we arrived at the Mill Park All Abili es Play Space! 4 hours later and raining ... we had lots of tears while trying to leave! This playground has play equipment for all ages and play levels. There is a bush play space, flying fox, swings galore, climbing equipment, monkey bars, trampolines, sew-saw and slides. There are 2 covered areas for par es with seats & tables, bbqs, bins, a basket ball court plus toilets and change rooms. The highlight of Hannah’s day to the park was the surprise water play area. Hannah’s p of the month - don’t forget your bathers and a towel for the water play area!

s d i K king Co o i m e T ANZAC Biscuits with Ethan Ingredients 2 Cups Rolled Oats 2 Cups Flour 2 Cups Coconut 1 1/2 Cups Caster Sugar 250g Bu er 4 tsp Golden Syrup 1 tsp Baling Soda 2 tbsp Boiling Water
Method Step 1 - Preheat oven to 160C. Step 2 - Lightly grease oven trays or line with baking paper. Step 3 - Place oats, flour, coconut and sugar in a large mixing bowl and mix with a wooden spoon. Step 4 - Melt bu er and golden syrup in saucepan, when melted remove from heat. Step 5 - Mix baking soda and boiling water in a cup, s r into melted mixture in the saucepan. Then quickly add to large bowl of dry ingredients and mix well. Step 6 - Using a tablespoon remove spoonfuls of mixture and roll into balls. Place on trays 5cm apart, pressing down lightly with a fork. Step 7 - Bake for 20 minutes, then allow to cool.
Great for the school lunch box or as an afternoon tea snack
