I am sitting here wondering if others also think its crazy that this time last year life was shutting down and now a year later my family life is busier than ever. It feels like we are trying to fit a full year into first term, and to top it off Easter School Holidays are already here! The magazine this month has some fantastic articles, on page 6 ‘I hate reading!’ helping parents to find ways to help their children who are finding read difficult. We have an interesting article ‘Dealing with morning sickness,’ on page 14 and ‘Respiratory Illness in Children’ an important article to help us to recognise when our little ones are unwell as we head towards winter, can be found on page 26.. Hanging with Hannah can be found on page 10. Hannah is out visiting the newly built Mill Park All Abilities Playground. This playground is amazing, it has lots of different play space which allows for many fun adventures. This month’s Kids in the Kitchen Mini Chef is Dexter, who has been busy creating some yummy Easter Egg Cookies, see page 25 for the recipes. In this month’s What’s On - we are sharing all the Local ANZAC Day Service information.

Hannah didn’t want to go to the park this month, she wanted to stay home and play Ipad games ... un l we arrived at the Mill Park All Abili es Play Space! 4 hours later, with rain ... we had tears while trying to leave! The playground has play equipment for all ages and play levels. There is a bush play space, ﬂying fox, swings galore, climbing equipment, monkey bars, trampolines, sew-saw and slides. There is 2 covered areas for par es, seats, tables, bbqs, bins, a basket ball court plus toilets and change rooms. The highlights of Hannah’s day to the park were the surprise water play area and ﬁnding her school friend Mahalia in the playground and wan ng to do everything all over again with her. Hannah’s p for the month - don’t forget your bathers and a towel for the water play area!

KITCHEN Easter Egg Cookies with Dexter

Ingredients: 175g butter (softened) 200g light brown sugar 100g raw caster sugar 1 tbsp vanilla extract 1 large egg 250g plain flour 1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda 50g white chocolate (chopped into chunks) 100g dark chocolate (chopped into chunks) 100g mini Easter Eggs (lightly crushed with a rolling pin)

Method: Step 1 - Heat oven to 190C. Line baking trays with baking paper, (you should fit approximately 6- 10 cookies on each tray.) Step 2 - Mix the bu er, sugars and vanilla in a bowl with an electric mixer un l light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat again. Add flour, bicarb soda and a pinch of salt and mix un l combined. Step 3 - With a spatula s r in the chocolate chunks and about half the crushed mini Easter Eggs, (set aside the larger pieces) and mix again un l evenly combined. Step 4 - Scoop golf ball sized mounds of cookie dough onto the baking trays, (making sure you leave plenty of space between each cookie.) Push the remaining Easter Egg pieces into the top. Step 5 - Bake for 12 - 15 minutes, for so and chewy cookies. Step 6 - Remove from the oven and leave to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
