To celebrate 40 years since the very first Ténéré opened up a new world of adventure for every rider, the World Rally features a historic Yamaha racing colour scheme inspired by Stéphane Peterhansel’s factory race bikes. With silver speedblocks and a pink fluo pinstripe on a solid blue base, the Ténéré 700 World Rally pays homage to Yamaha’s multiple victories in the world’s toughest race. The front mudguard is also painted blue to match the body and for added exclusivity the fork outer tubes, seat and wheel rims are finished in black.

This premium adventure bike has been constructed to a very high specification and features top of the range components throughout. With its deep and evocative exhaust note, the slip-on Akrapovič muffler accentuates the very special character of the 270-degree crank CP2 engine and highlights this exclusive machine’s best-in-class equipment.

The dual side-mounted 23-litre fuel tanks are located low on the chassis, centralising the mass for agile handling. The top of the tanks sits much lower than on the Ténéré 700 to give easy rider mobility.

The seat’s two-piece design allows for the easy removal of the rear section to enable the fitment of accessories such as a rack or luggage. The dual black-grey material construction is designed to offer a firm but comfortable ride. Its flat profile enables you to move backwards and forwards with minimal effort when shifting your body weight to maintain control on rough terrain and the Ténéré 700 World Rally’s ergonomics are suited to both sit down and stand-up riding positions.

The 5-inch colour TFT display offers you three different screen displays, from a contemporary digital design to a more traditional analogue look and there’s also a roadbook style screen with trip meters. The bike’s CCU communicates with the MyRide app so that text messages and incoming call alerts are displayed on the screen, keeping you connected at all times.

3-mode switchable ABS gives you the option to decide exactly how you want your bike to behave on different surfaces. Mode 1 is fully on, with ABS working on both wheels, a legal requirement on public roads. Mode 2 is front wheel on and rear wheel off, giving added confidence on loose gravel tracks. The Ténéré 700 World Raid is equipped with dual side-mounted 23-litre fuel tanks that give a potential range of up to 500 km. The highest part of the tank sits much lower than on the Ténéré 700 to give a smooth transition between the front of the seat and the tank for easy rider mobility.

A dark bronze coloured Kashima coating on the outer tubes gives reduced stiction for smoother action, and also offers improved durability and corrosion resistance.

The rear suspension system uses a redesigned linkage as well as a rear shock equipped with a piggyback reservoir and an aluminium body that ensures consistent damping. A large bump stop is used to handle rough terrain, and the World Raid’s shock gives 220mm rear wheel travel, 20mm more that the Ténéré 700.

When you’ve experienced the EU5 CP2 2-cylinder 690cc engine with its 270° crank you’ll understand why it’s one of Yamaha’s most successful units. For improved convenience and easier ground access, the Ténéré 700 Explore is equipped with 43mm KYB front forks offering 190mm wheel travel, 20mm less than the Ténéré 700. The revised spring rates give a stable and comfortable ride when touring with luggage and the reduction in suspension travel achieves a lower seat height.

The bike is equipped with a specially developed KYB shock absorber with an increased spring rate that delivers excellent comfort and controllability even when you’re fully loaded. Giving 180mm travel, 20mm less than the Ténéré 700. The remotely adjustable shock gives a lower seat height for easy ground access.

For easier mounting and dismounting, the latest Ténéré 700 Explore is equipped with a lower seat height of 860mm , 15mm less than the Ténéré 700. This offers various advantages, including easier ground access for added low speed controllability when riding in tricky off-road situations or in congested traffic.

When you’re riding long distances you’ll appreciate the added wind protection provided by the factory-fitted larger screen. Higher and wider than the standard design, it gives a 50% increase in surface area to ensure improved touring comfort.

Before the event you can choose to attend a Ténéré Centre if you want to improve your riding or navigation skills and MBSM will take care of everything else from start to finish including daily pre-event briefings, logistics, technical assistance, GPS tracker fitment, breakfast, dinner and camping. The 2024 Ténéré Spirit Experience includes some of the most famous rallyraid events, starting with the Africa Eco Race in December, followed by the Morocco Desert Challenge in April, Hellas Rally in May and TransAnatolia.
