ED I TOR’S LETTER I am a summer baby and live for that season. During the cold winter all I think about is what I am going to wear the coming summer, what will be my signature pieces, where am I going to wear what to and how I can possibly afford this new blindingly bright wardrobe?! Filled with long sunny days, warm nights, vibrant colours, glistening beaches and all those parties, to say summer is my absolute favourite time of the year would be an understatement. So I was very excited when creating this XF Summer Issue as I wanted my excitement for the season to inspire you all.

2

So we’ve hit the road this summer and with our friends from Surf Star + Skate, we’ve prepared a WA coast Road Trip guide of places to go, things to see and what to pack to make sure you travel with style! Taking sartorial inspiration from the 1950’s, our beautiful but tragic editorial, Why Don’t You Love Me?, explores the wild Australian landscape through the eyes of a couple who are in a throws of love and hate.

It definitely ain’t summer without you swaying your arms up at a music festival. So to avoid any faux pas and ensure you look hot-as-hell, make sure to check out our Festival Dress Code feature for all your festival fashion needs. We then take a sneak peak into the colourful life of Perth ‘It girl’ and all around fashion creative Poppy Lissiman, as she features in our Style Files series. And trust us when we say her wardrobe is just as amazing as you’d imagine. Whatever you decide to do this summer or wherever you decide to go, we hope you take inspiration from this issue and do it in style! From all of us here at XF, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and good luck at the Boxing Day sales!

POPPY LISSIMAN Designer & Boutique Owner Poppy Lissiman doesn’t exactly play by the books, so to speak. She is the type of girl who is always dripping in every colour imaginable and leaves a trail of neon and glitter wherever she goes. Never a wallflower, Poppy’s style is a welcome burst of quirk in the Perth fashion scene and all the local fashionistas are loving it so much that they always rush out to get a piece from her Claremont boutique, Poppy Lissiman Addition, whenever new stock hits. Taking inspiration from the streets of Hong Kong and Korea, Pop believes in living life uniquely and her adventurous style weaves through all aspects of her life

from her wardrobe, to her house and her larger-than-life partner of two years Harrow Williams (who completely equals her in brightness). Sifting through Pop’s wardrobe is like strutting through a rainbow, with lots of stand out pieces from international designers such as Christopher Kane, MSGM and Givenchy, as well as Australian favourites, Emma Mulholland, Sass & Bide and Dion Lee. But Pop ain’t no fashion snob and keeps it real by styling things back with fast fashion labels like Zara, Topshop, ASOS and fun Korean labels. If anyone can give Pop a run for her money when it comes to eccentric wardrobe choices it’s her boyfriend

X-PRESS FASHION SUMMER 13/14

Harrow, whose collection of tropical shirts, Adidas jackets, floral lays and jelly sandals make for some pretty epic outfit combinations. He doesn’t often buy clothes but when he does it’s always a statement piece ensuring that he leaves quite an impact wherever he goes. Their house is a mixture of vibrant colours and positive energy but also with a slightly provocative twist, which encapsulates the couple’s unconventional style perfectly.
