CARL ZEISS VISION Quiksilver and Roxy Eyewear have commenced a partnership with Carl Zeiss Vision and decided to equip all their frames with this type of lens in order to offer the finest quality for athletes and customers. This new collection is fitted with CZV lenses, which offer 100% UV sun protection with as little optic distortion as possible and optical quality for an uncompromised vision. The two main lens colors are: - Grey, which preserves natural colors perception and is relaxing to the eye. - Brown, which highlights contrasts, thus allowing sharper vision. Carl Zeiss Vision has been specializing in optics for the past 160 years and is a worldwide leader in developing and manufacturing ophthalmic lenses, lens coatings and technologies. It makes sense for us to partner with CZV since Quiksilver sunglasses main focus is to offer both full protection and fun. We have a broad range of sunglasses from kids to adults with anything from colorful to simple designs. CZV helps to assure us that people wearing the product will have full protection and high quality vision. All the sunglasses are supplied with a nice Carl Zeiss leaflet.

THE SLIM LINE FRAMES ARE MADE WITH TR4066 All the frames made with TR4066 material are around 50% thinner and 35% lighter than a normal pair of sunglasses (i.e.: THE FERRIS). Indeed, one of the most important characteristic of this material is that it can be used to produce slim sunglasses without deformation. Polycarbonate can be used also but the material is too hard and would break more easily. For TR90, it would be too soft and with risks of deformation.

Specially conceived and finalized by Christian Dalloz Sunoptics, this HD lens offers a specific filtration allowing an exceptional perception of colors and contrasts. Thanks to its selective filtration, high definition lens filters wavelenghts corresponding to rods (light intensity) and gives high transmission of wavelenghts corresponding to cones (perception of colors).
In certain light conditions, glare is caused by the reflection of light waves from surfaces like ice or water. In cases like this, the visual acuity is considerably decreased and visual fatigue is caused. To eliminate this glare, we use one lens with polarization integrated in the body of the lens: polarized. Natural light waves travel in all direction: this is diffuse light. This concentration of light causes reflection and consequently glare. The polarized filter is oriented perpendiculary to this panel, in order to absorb these rays and eliminate disturbing glare.

Polycarbonate lenses offer the greatest visual protection for people who go to extreme, providing excellent visual performance and comfort.
Grey lenses absorb the same amount of light for each wavelenght, which make them excellent color rendering lenses. Colors are true to life and without distortion. Grey is ideal for activities such as cycling, jogging, driving, hicking, as well as for conditions of extreme sunlight.

BROWN - Contrast performance Brown lenses provide natural, stress-free vision in changing conditions. They improve contrast and bring out details, thereby increasing three dimensional perception. These lenses are recommended for winter sports, mountaineering, outdoor activities, and on the water. Brown lenses are also filter blue light. • • • • •

GREEN - Close to the sensitivity curvature of the human eye The color green is unique in that it filters out the colors that the eye has the greatest difficulty processing. C - COATINGS Mirror coating is a vacuum deposition process obtained through the sublimation of different refractive index materials. Mirror series includes: • Flash mirrors deposit a thin layer of rare materials and minerals, allowing lower light transmittance in a subtle mirrored look. • Bi-layer mirrors absorb light creating a solid, consistent mirror. • Multi-layer mirrors deposits three to eleven layers of dielectrics materials creating shiny, bright effects with low absorption light.
LENS TREATMENT A - FILTERING UV AND VISIBLE LIGHT Filtration of visible light is divided into categories from 0 to 4. The level of filtration must match the environment and the ambient light. In very sunny conditions, Category 3 lenses are recommended. Category 4 lenses are recommended only for extreme sunlight. For less sunlight, Category 1 or 2, or even category 0 lenses are recommended.
D - ANTI-REFLECTIVE
In any case, the lenses must filter all ultraviolet radiation (wavelenghts below 400 nm). CDS UV400 lenses guarantee complete filtration of ultraviolet radiation.
