The following set of images were not used for the calendar but we decided to published them in this publication. The weather was extremely hot for two days in mid-July, so the photographing took place early morning and late evening. Some family members and friends were on hand to assist the models. With little or no modeling experience, the models performed very well. The location of the shoot was Pinedale, New Mexico, which is 30 minutes northeast of Gallup, NM at an elevation of 7000 feet. The Nikon D2X was used for this project. An Arts & Entertainment Publication

The Women of the Navajo logo was design by Karl C. Jim in 2004. It reflects the diversity and beauty of Navajo women. The circle’s opening is through which knowledge is gained from above. The face represents the innocence and curiosity of today’s youth. The jewelry represents modesty and pride, while the different hair lengths and styles Karl C. 2006 Women of the Navajo v.25plus 54 - WOTN-The Magazine

An Arts & Entertainment Publication

The 2006 V.25plus calendar was short lived as it was shelved after only one issue. The models were photographed in a studio in Scottsdale, Arizona by photographer Sal Corbo. Thirteen women were chosen for this project, who were over the age of 25. Navajo fashion designer Virginia Yazzie-Ballenger provided the clothing. Ballenger is the owner of “Navajo Spirit of Gallup, New Mexico and has generously offered her designer pieces for other editions of Women of the Navajo calendar. Maybe in the future, it will be revived and put on the market. An Arts & Entertainment Publication

In 2005, it was decided on to use the color black in the clothing, the objective was to show a more edgy side of fashion. Some of the models wore black leather vest and pants, black t-shirts complimented by silver concho belts and turquoise jewelry. The models were photographed in a studio in Scottsdale by photographer Sal Corbo over a three day period. Karl Jim of Crownpoint was chosen to design the 2006 calendar. Terri Abshire was the makeup artist and the clothing was provided by Royal Schurz.
