Biosolids Project

Nearing Completion

The newest addition to Windsor’s Wastewater Treatment Facility has initiated operational startup.

On Saturday, July 16, the Windsor’s Wastewater Treatment Facility team began pumping biosolids into the digesters of the new biosolids handling facility. Biosolids are a byproduct of the wastewater treatment process. The new biosolids facility will continue the treatment process by further breaking down the organic matter in the biosolids and then dewatering the solids to reduce the amount that needs to be disposed of. Windsor’s wastewater treatment facility currently treats up to 2.1 million gallons of wastewater daily, and this new biosolids facility is designed to handle current conditions and support the town’s future growth.
