Elections Update By Noemi Pedraza

On March 10th 2020, Democratic primaries were held in Washington, North Dakota, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, and Michigan. The race to become the democratic nominee started off with 25 democrats, now only three candidates are left: Sanders, Biden, and Gabbard. After Super Tuesday, Warren, once a front runner in the democratic race, announced the end of her presidential candidacy after seeing the poll numbers. However, a few nights later on SNL, Warren showed the nation that she was not going to let this defeat put her down, performing a TikTok dance with SNL cast member Kate Mckinnon. Biden and Sanders continue to face head to head with Joe leading the race. Meanwhile, Trump is winning Repubican delegates without a fight from fellow republican candidate William Weld. On Tuesday, both Biden and Sanders were forced to stop rallies due to fears of the CoronaVirus. As the polls were released, Bernie was disappointed to see how the numbers worked out for him. Nevertheless, he announced he was ready to face Biden in an upcoming debate. Bernie only won 2 of the 6 states, and even losing counties he had won in 2016. Throughout his campaign, Bernie was hoping more of the young people’s vote to help him become the democratic nominee, but that didn’t work out for him. Most of the previous democratic candidates have declared their support to the former Vice President. For now, it’s up to Bernie to catch up in order to become the democratic nominee.

Mexico’s Feminista March By: Isabel Reynoso

On Monday, women all around Mexico did not show up for work in order to show the government what a world without women would be like. Several jobs were missing workers necessary to do their everyday work. Meanwhile, thousands of women marched in unity across Mexico City and costing the city billions The march served as a reminder that everyday in Mexico,at least 10 women are killed. These marches were inspired and supported by the #MeToo movement. The killings of Ingrid Escamilla and Fatima Aldrighett pushed the movement forward, as several women were frustrated at the violence. Despite their efforts, it seemed as if the women were simply brushed off by the government. Lopez Obrador, claimed that the feminist movement was reasonable but believed that his political opponents were helping organize the event and almost refused to validate the idea.Nevertheless, women across the nation continue to fight against the machismo and the gender violence faced on a daily basis.

Runway Fashion: Spring 2020 By: Izcalli Hernandez

As the cold air begins to fade and the warm air welcomes the earth with spring, the fashion industry is welcoming the new trends of runway. This year the most important and biggest trend of this spring is sustainability. As the awareness of climate change and environmental safety increases the pressure for one of the biggest causes of pollution(fast fashion) to create sustainable clothing; some of the biggest fashion labels such as Gucci, Dior, Louis Vitton, etc. have created plans and goals for their clothing by keeping a climate neutrality or surrounding their runway with trees that will late on be used for replanting. As for the style and design of the clothes? Well, this year one of the newest spring trends is neon colors. This year designer Valentino led the neon light on the runway with various colors of Stabilo green, fuchsia, and yellow. Up next for spring trends are the feeling of ethereal and softness with wafty white dresses. This dress according to viewers is an extreme vision of femininity. Usually these dresses are detailed with satin, lace, embroidered bows or flowers. Though the spring is filled with warm breezes there are also rainy showers to beware of which brings in another spring trend- trench coats. The trench coat is a practical and useful part of an everyday outfit, which anyone can style no matter their outfit. This spring will definitely be filled with colorful and playful new trends for fashion.
