Aitiopaikka is a full-service meeting and function centre, located in the heart of Turku, which offers a diverse range of services for meetings, conferences and functions. A total of 12 different-sized and well-equipped rooms can be found under the same roof, providing just what is needed for all kinds of events. All rooms have wireless internet and up-to-date technology for running meetings and events. Video-conferencing is also possible. The dining hall can seat around 300 people.
The walls of the dining hall are lined with the softly shaded tiles manufactured by the legendary Kupittaan Savi Oy, which operated between 1921 and 1969. The tables and chairs are made from oak by a local carpenter. The quality catering services of FresCo Restaurants Oy complete the experience. The view of the River Aura that opens up from the windows of Aitiopaikka’s auditorium may be one of Finland’s grandest seminar landscapes. The bright foyer is well suited for exhibitions and small-scale fairs.
Aitiopaikka is located in the public office building dating from 1969, and it contains within it a number of architecturally impressive spaces. The bright foyer and hall areas provide a contrast to the dark exterior. The interior materials, light surfaces, oak linings and interior glass walls strike a contrast with the copper façade. The building was designed by Architects RistoVeikko Luukkonen (1902–1972) and Helmer Erik Stenros (1929–). The Governor’s Reception Hall has been an important part of the public office building since its beginnings. Distinguished guests of the Finnish state have been received and entertained behind its doors. Nowadays, there is also the opportunity to hold business or private events in the Reception Hall. The Reception Hall has its own entrance from the side of the public office where the Wäinö Aaltonen museum is located. In addition to the impressive and atmospheric interior spac-

The home of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra is a traditional hall which hosts, among other events, the Degree Ceremonies of the Universities of Turku. Banker and nobleman Johan Oswald Wasastjerna built Villa Wolax in 1899, in Kuusisto. The villa’s walls are decorated with Axel Hartman’s paintings, which are lit by the villa’s crystal chandeliers. The large grass-covered grounds reach the shoreline and make it possible to organise activities outdoors. The main building’s facilities, two seaside villas of different sizes (the Captain’s sea-
side villa and the Commodore’s seaside villa) and Johanna’s veranda offer premises for a multitude of events, from meetings to family celebrations and sauna evenings. The saunas each have jacuzzis, which fit in total 30 people, and the sauna in the larger seaside villa seats up to 25 people. Visitors can swim in the sea, also in winter when a hole is drilled in
the ice and visitors can try ice swimming. A variety of different activities are organised on the grounds throughout the year. The range of additional programme services includes Soling sailing (6 boats) and hikes to Ryövärin luola cave. Villa Wolax is located about 20 minutes from Turku by car.
