At Soles4Souls, they turn unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.

Most of us can’t fathom what it would be like to lack something as basic as a pair of shoes, but for millions of people around the world, that’s an everyday reality.

Specifically here in Middle Tennessee, of the 319,111 total students enrolled in public schools - 8,264 students are experiencing homelessness. The race between the ten Middle Tennessee counties below will help get brand new shoes on the feet of those who need it the most.

The average person in North America throws away 70 pounds of textiles every year. That’s 21 billion pounds of extra waste dumped in our landfills every year! And the EPA estimates only 15% is donated or recycled.

Since 2006, supporters of Soles4Souls have diverted 71 million pounds of shoes and clothing from landfills. Soles4Souls partners with women’s shelters, veterans’ organizations, children’s programs and schools to get shoes and clothing to those who need it most.

Leadership Middle Tennesse needs your help in bridging the gap and helping those in our commuity get the basic necessities they need, like shoes.
