Fort Campbell’s annual Boot Display, which honors America’s fallen soldiers from September 11, 2001 to present, was the opening event at this year’s Week of the Eagles.

More than 7,500 boots were placed on the lawn each was adorned with an American flag, a photo of the fallen soldier, and a tag that lists the soldier’s name, rank, date, and location of death.

This year’s Week of the Eagles celebration marks 80 years of service by the storied 101st Airborne Division. The theme of the week was 80 years of getting it done with the 101. Col. Bernard Harrington, Fort Campbell’s deputy commanding officer, presided over the ceremony.
