THE GREATEST GIFT BY MARY’S SONG DIRECTOR DEBRA MCNABB But what is the real “Reason for the Season”?… shopping till you drop for PERFECT gift that fades away or worse yet get discarded with the turkey carcass. Absolutely NOT!! “Christ is the Reason!! A story that transcends time, the supernatural birth of a child born over 2000 years ago, a birth foretold over 700 years before it occurred through generations of prophecies.

T

he Greatest Gift…..CHRIST

The year 2011 will be history in less than 30 days, and it’s even harder to believe that Christmas is only three weeks away. The whole city is busy, shopping centers are full to overflowing; streets signs and homes are beginning to dress up with bright lights, holiday colors and the festive decorations of this holiday season.

In Isaiah 9:6 he wrote “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;. This verse in Isaiah is a prophetic vision of the long-expected birth of the Jesus Christ the Messiah; the Savior born to remove the sins from all mankind.

our intimate relationship with God the father. In John 3:16 Jesus proclaimed “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” The Messiah was the eternal gift of God the perfect gift of love. The greatest gift anyone can give or receive, so this Christmas give the gift that keeps that will keep giving all through 2012. Give and receive the “Reason for the Season” Christ.•

Matthew Henry said “Christ’s being born and given to us is the great foundation of our hopes, and fountain of our joy, in times of greatest grief and fear.”

TESTIMONIES

SARALEE TRIMBLE

I

Kevin Trimble is pictured below with his brother Anthony.

was brought up in a Christian

home and gave my life to Jesus when I was 8 years old. After a lot of years, some bad church experience and a marriage with walls of bitterness, anger built up between us my heart became calloused and resentful towards God. One day I left my husband for another man. He promised that I would never have to work again, each of my children would have a trust fund, new car and collage paid for, as soon as his money was available. Gradually my resources came to an end—job, credit cards, bank accounts. We had to live in my car, beg in churches and in Wal-Mart parking lots and eat in soup kitchens. Everyday his money would be available----tomorrow!! Everyday I thought “I can hang on for 24 hours more.” I was isolated from my children, my mother, my brothers and all my Christian friends. I knew I was living in sin and rebellion against God and I was ashamed of where I was and what I was doing. I prayed, but in that dark, hopeless place I felt trapped. It had been nearly 2 years. Then the car broke

“He is filling my desperate soul so that I’m satisfied with Him” down and I called my friend Sheila—maybe she would help me. God used her but not the way I expected. One morning there was a tap on the car window. It was my daughter Deborah and three of my other children. I had not seen them for a year and a half. They put their arms around me and said “Mom, you can walk away from all this and come with us.” I did, leaving my car and the man I was with. They began to tell me about Mary’s Song, a restoration center for women, that’s all about God. What they said is true. Mary’s Song is a place set apart by God for women to begin to experience the love of God. I arrived with nothing but the clothes I had on. Everything I have has been provided. God poured His love on me, giving me the gift of repentance and forgiveness. He allowed me to return to my First Love—HIM! I’d been at Mary’s Song 8½ months when we received a call from the US Army. My youngest son Kevin had been injured by IED blast. He lost both legs and an arm. As soon as he was stable enough he would fly to German then back to the US. I

felt sick and shaken, but not lost. Sister Debra, Sister Pam and Nancy all gathered around in prayer. Strength and hope came into my soul. Sept 19th my husband Dan, for whom I have a deep respect, brought me home after 2 years. We began a new life together. Kevin arrived at Brooke Army Medical Center on Sept 23. We shared in the commitment to be at his side day and night. Our church family at Victory have supported us every step of the way. Kevin after many surgeries is healing remarkably well. The doctors admitted, “It’s a miracle”. He will eventually be fitted with prosthetics and be able to live independently. We live one day at a time giving thanks to God for and in everything. His promises in Jesus Christ are available to us all. I have learned to fear Him and love Him. His presence goes with me everywhere! •

JEANNE MARIE HENLEY

I “He is the only one that will never leave me and will love through it all ”

came to Mary’s Song a little over a year ago broken, lost and had given up on life and God. In a nut shell I felt completely hopeless. I had been going through a bad divorce and in the aftermath of that; made all the wrong choices that I could possibly make. I felt like I had literally lost everything and was in such a place of depression that I couldn’t even see things I did have in my life especially God, because in my mind He just sat back and let it all happen. When I first came to Mary’s Song I felt out of place because I couldn’t relate to any one here. I had never done drugs or drank alcohol and to be honest I was probably judging the other girls because they did. I never felt quite like I belonged any where in my life and always had a sense of rejection; not

because of anything anybody else did; it was just a strong hold in my life and it didn’t get any better here until one day when I truly got touched by the power of God. God revealed to me that through I had never done drugs my depression and constant need to be accepted by man was just as dangerous and stupid as doing any drug. He showed me I would never find satisfaction or peace until I turned to Him because He is the only one that no matter how much I mess up or fall will always be there. He is the only one that will never leave me and will love through it all. Though it has been a rough road I have completed the ten months of the program and opted to stay on for third phase and attend beauty school. I started Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology on May 17th. It is awesome that

while I am transitioning back into life I have the support and covering of Mary’s Song and Victory Fellowship to guide me through, so that when I do go back out into the world I will be able to provide for myself and my son and know that God has prepared me to deal with life and whatever it may throw at me because He will never leave me. •
