Make campus connections Our partnership with—and proximity to—a leading academic medical center offers access to world-class clinical facilities, with an intimate classroom setting right across the street. This means that not only are most clinical experiences right in the neighborhood, but many graduates are employed with the Medical Center after graduation.

Gain immersive clinical experience at the University of Rochester Medical Center, featuring a four-time designated ANCC Magnet hospital, the region's largest and most advanced Emergency Department and only trauma center Learn from faculty who are transforming health care as researchers and clinicians Sharpen your critical thinking and clinical judgment skills at a nationally-ranked school that is redefining nursing education Experience our integrated approach to education, research, and practice through dynamic, interactive classroom experiences, simulation and lab environments, and clinical rotations across four specialty areas Tip: Many APNN students pursue practical work experience before pursuing a master’s degree. If you work as an RN at our affiliated University hospital, the master's can be completed using tuition benefits while working full-time.

"One appeal of the University of Rochester School of Nursing was its partnership with the Medical Center—that has really opened the door for a powerful clinical experience." Paige Steiner, '21N | Accelerated Bachelor's Program for Non-Nurses University of Rochester School of Nursing | APNN | 5

Forge your pathway Comprising 49 credits in generalist nursing courses over three full-time semesters, our APNN curriculum incorporates dynamic coursework, hands-on simulation and skills labs, and over 700 hours of clinical training in Med-Surg, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry. "Students need to engage in clinical reasoning and think critically in a clinical setting. We need to go beyond what a student knows to what they can do with what they know." Lydia Rotondo, DNP, RN, CNS, FNAP | Associate Dean for Education and Student Affairs University of Rochester School of Nursing | APNN | 6

Take care of yourself Nursing is already one of the most challenging education paths you can take - and the intensity of a rigorous full-time accelerated program can seem to leave little time to focus on anything else. But the most successful students—and most effective providers—know the importance of self-care. These are just a few keys to succeed.

Manage your responsibilities Planning, time management, and organization are essential to stay ahead at this program's accelerated pace

Make time for what matters Find ways to continue doing the things that bring you joy, help you recharge, or keep you grounded

Maintain your relationships Nurture your relationships with friends and family—as well as those with your cohort

"If you get a B because it meant that you could spend more time with your partner, or with your children— accept that. You're still going to be a wonderful nurse...because what's important to you are relationships." Patrick Hopkins, DNP, APRN, C-PNP, NNP | Co-Director, Accelerated Program for Non-Nurses

Drive innovation We're recognized nationally as a leader in nursing education. Here, academic innovation is inspired not just by our mission to engage our students while they are with us, but to prepare them for success in their careers as they enter a complex and evolving health care landscape.

The Redefining Our Classroom Initiative (iROC) leverages technology to shift the traditional classroom into a dynamic learning environment

During Orientation, students receive their iPad device, case and crayon and attend guided training sessions to become familiar with the applications and resources used throughout the program, including: Kahoot! Padlet CoursePoint

Did you know? We've been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for continuous innovation in learning, teaching, and the school environment.

Our Flipped Classroom approach presents pre-class learning that introduces basic concepts, then focuses on application of those concepts during face-to-face class time

Pre-learning activities provide a foundation of concepts and may include podcasts or presentations, picmonics or virtual simulations In-class activities may include short, interactive game-based quizzes or collaborative learning activities

"In a traditional classroom setting, students aren't really able to process as they're learning. But with the iPad, students can do and learn all at the same time." Kaitlyn Burke, MS, RN, CCRN, CNE-cl | Instructor of Clinical Nursing University of Rochester School of Nursing | APNN | 10

Experience your education Our active and experiential learning opportunities, collaborative tools, and educational technologies put our students at the center of their own learning experience, which promotes critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and problem solving skills—and makes our students better nurses.

Through experiential learning, students gain realistic insight to every aspect of their future roles in nursing—from patient interaction and care, to solving clinical problems, to communicating and collaborating within a health care team. The deliberate practice and rigorous selfreflection associated with simulation provides our students the invaluable opportunity to exercise their clinical reasoning and build skills and confidence by making safe mistakes in a learning environment.

Check it out: Our Helen Wood Hall building expansion adds 22,000 sq. ft. feet of experiential learning space and features a 20-bed skills lab, four state-of-the-art simulation labs with high fidelity mannequins, augmented and virtual reality equipment, and clinical learning classrooms
