ROBBY WELLS:

When meeting Robby Wells , his story of strength and determination is inspirational at best: Robby was adopted as an infant, and grew up in the southern state of Alabama as the son of a Baptist Minister. It’s noted that as a young child, Robby Wells watched as his father work closely with Jimmy Carter who was Governor of Georgia, then shortly afterwards become the 39th President of the United States. It was then that Robby decided that one day he would run for and become President of the United States. In his life travels, he earned a B.A. from Furman University in Health and Exercise Science and played on the football team that won the 1988 I-AA National Championship. Afterwards, tenures as an assistant coach at Benedict College, South Carolina State University, and the University of South Carolina, he worked closely with football legend Lou Holtz, who inspired him to treat other people the way you would like to be treated and to strive for excellence. From furthering his education, to service with the National Guard during the middle of the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, this prepared Robby Wells for what he would need to do to fulfill his lifelong dream. Educator, marketer, coach, and now effective leader desiring change…Robby Wells sat down with Urban Tymes to expound on his strong beliefs, his unyielding vision, and desire to help America “Rise Up.”

Rising to Meet the Challenge By C Digsby

UT: What have you seen since the last Presidential Race that we as voters need to be fully aware of? RW: That’s a good question, and when we are out and talking to the people, I ask them this question….Are we happy with the direction that our country is going in, and are we moving things into a positive direction fast enough? I’ve asked many of the people that I come in contact with, Are you happy?” Are you happy that we’ve lost millions of manufacturing jobs in the past 25 years, and we are not energy independent? We are ranked 36th in the world in the field of education…then ask we are away over 50 billion dollars a year in foreign aid, yet we have over 50 million people here at home in poverty, while our roads and bridges continue to crumble. We are giving away so much foreign aid, but a middle class or low income citizen family who wants to go to college, has to take out a student loan.. it doesn’t make any sense to me, and I’m taking a stand and we have a plan that’s to rectify this problem. To make it a better country so everyone can start living an America dream instead of the economic nightmare that we’ve been in since 2007. UT: You made a powerful statement some time ago; you said “It is time for someone to stand up for ‘We the People.’ I have taken that stand. America, I ask everyone to Rise Up with me as we begin the Restoration of our Republic,” Share more with our readers about that position. RW: That is correct. We need to get back to having prosperity in this land and “Rise Up” and begin the restoration of our republic. I’ve taken a very hard stand on this, as we need to take this country to a different direction, and that is our campaign slogan, to “Rise Up” to restore this country and bring about prosperity so we can see our future generation thrive. Right now our future generation is online to make less money than their parents. That is the first time in the history of our country, so we’ve got to make some changes, and these are some changes that I truly believe have to be made or we are going to continue to see this country crumble. UT: “Eaglenomics” is a phrase that has been used constantly in you campaign and marketing. Explain the meaning of “Eaglenomics.” RW: Well, “Eaglenomics” is my economic plan that takes the absolute best from left wing, and the absolute best from the right wing. I believe it’s time for us as Americans to lay aside our differences, check our egos at the door, and take the absolute best plans that are out there, whether it is from the left or right wing. That’s why I call it “Eaglenomics” because it takes two wings for an eagle to fly. Have you ever seen a bird fly with one wing? T doesn’t happen. If a bird tries to fl with one

wing, all its going to do is flap around, kick up dust and not be very productive. We’ve got to change our way of thinking, change our priorities. Instead of taking care of everybody else’s back yard, we need to start taking care of our own. And as the next President, that’s exactly what we’re going to do. UT: Very strong stand Mr. Wells and I’m sure your constituents would echo those same sentiments. Let me ask you, with the background as an educator, a coach and motivator, which are all great attributes to have in the various fields you’ve been a part of, and examples of the ability to lead, how would apply those same traits in your presidency? RW: That’s a very good question, and thank you for that, because I’ve had the nay-sayers say “well, you don’t have any political experience.” Well, let me tell you what “political experience has gotten us…over the past 25year, on both sides the Democrats and the Republicans, it has gotten us. Three government shut downs, constant gridlock in Washington, the loss of a million manufacturing jobs to companies overseas. An unemployment rate that has gone through the roof, with 50 million Americans living in poverty now, half the American population existing on low income or requiring some sort of federal assistance, and an educational system that ranks 36th internationally. Also, and economic meltdown back in 2007-2008, that’s what political experience has given us. I truly believe its time for us to move in a different direction. UT: Well we certainly appreciate your time, and your energy and desire in regards for your run for presidency. RW: I truly believe that we’ve got a plan that’s going to bring prosperity back to the people of the United States. A plan that will bring millions of manufacturing jobs back to the United States, which will create millions of jobs to help improve our infrastructure that is currently crumbling. To become energy independent, so we can have cheaper energy , as well as and getting out of these conflicts in the Middle East. A plan that will restore our educational system, to eliminate the 1.2 trillion in student debt, and a plan to make college education free, all the way through a Bachelor’s degree. If the people of the United States are looking for this change, good Lord willing, and if they see it our way, we intend on taking this plan to Washington in 2016 as the 45th President. My name is Robbie Wells, I’m running for President, and people can find us on our website, www.Robbywells2016.com. We are looking for volunteers, a lot of financial help. This is truly is a campaign for the people, and we hope people will take a small investment in this country by standing up with this campaign. Thank you much Carey!

KG: Why did you want to become an Author?

26.

JQY: I became an author because I’ve always had an interest in writing. I remember being in school in creative writing classes and loving the opportunity given to create stories. I remember having a journal for years, so now as an adult having went through some situations, I want to share these experiences. Some have been funny things that have happened, others, life lessons but I use my writing as an extension of my creativity. KG: What is your inspiration? JQY: I am inspired by wanting to create a story that captures the attention of a reader and evoke some type of emotion. New things inspire me, and just that raw emotion I receive from a person when they have gotten a painting, picture or one of my books. I’m inspired by my ability to “step out of my comfort zone and see how rewarding things can be” because most of the time people are quick to say they don’t know how to do something. Have you really put forth an honest effort?

song, one after another, I can approach my stories in the same regard. I just go with what seems like the natural course on how things should play out. My stories are relatable, like conversation pieces. Visually you can see what I’m describing and lose yourself in the story, that’s what I aim to do with all my writing. KG: What makes your storytelling ability so different than other writers? JQY: I incorporated my paintings in my story to show people how diverse I really am. My character is an artist which I made him be on purpose as a way to cross promote my actual paintings. As a new author, I want to engage with my readers as much as possible. I want them to know what I like, what services I can provide because, in these times, you have to wear multiple hats in order to be successful. KG: What is next for you? Singer, Songwriter

Candice RNB Her Humble Hustle By C Digsby Photos courtesy of CandiceRNB

Prior to our interviewing Candice, we reviewed some footage on the singer as well as read up on her biography and works. While there was not a lot of info that talked in depth about her upbringing or history, that was truly complimented with what she is doing now and for the future. Candice RNB‘s sound is for a lack of a better term, real. Real in the sense that when singing on stage or acapella via a camera phone recording, you’re gonna get it all, real. The type of music and expression that comes from a place that is truly hers and for that brief instance that she’s performing, she’s allowing you an opportunity to come in, and understand the realness, and why she has “RNB” as part of her name. Proof of this is apparent on songs “Potential” “Lesbian” and “Live From the Smokers Room” which portray a smooth R&B reminiscent 80’s vibe, partnered with today’s lyrics and a woman assured of her position in the 21st century…… say that three times fast. During a meet in greet in the QC at SportsOne Bar & Lounge, we gained an audience with Candice, she’s already got our attention, let us begin…….

sic and perform. Brings it back to the old days, I would think R&B is my influence, if that makes sense? UT: It definitely does! And it’s interesting because we've heard so many accolades about your abilities and gifts, yet the main term used so many times is "unfiltered” shed a little light on that for us, define your view of "unfiltered." CRNB : Well, my definition is just "raw" or "uncut." Others might say "she’s' got a potty mouth" but I'm grown, I say what I want to say and do what I want to do, I’m a realest, I keep it real! UT: Definitely can understand that. A lot of the music that you make, seems to show a side of strength, a sense of assuredness with yourself, if that correct to say? CRNB: Well, I like to think of it as woman power. Not so much as “ Oh, I’m hurt or sad” or “I miss him” I can get over it, I can overcome it. Keep it moving, so on and so forth. UT: Ok, so with said, let’s go back to the single that’s creating the buzz.... CRNB: Ah yes, Laughing ...."Lesbians!"

UT: Yes...so I hear that NeYo played a part in the making of this single? CRNB: Yes, actually he wrote the record, he said it was UT: Candice, what would you say is your biggest a no brainer! Basically ....he didn’t write the song for influence in music? me, I came in to demo the song, I then sang the song, CRNB: R&B simply, just bringing real music back, and he was like "I don’t want to give it away!" So I had you know what I mean? Being in the studio and the song for two years before it was released, which to actually doing bridges and hooks, that’s my me was a big blessing because I mean he didn’t need influence. When I see Ne-Yo going there, or any me to sing the record, you know. So I’m very thankful artist for that matter taking their time to write mufor his believing in me.

33.

UT: How has Ne-Yo influenced your style, or work ethic? CRNB: I’ve been with Ne-Yo at parties, late nights, radio, everything like that, and he never gets tired, and if he does, he doesn’t show it....you know what I mean. Even like with music, he is focused. If I’m in the studio, and he's written a song for me, he is hands on reviewing and in there until I'm done singing the last word. He is very into it, and his passion for the music gives me a deeper passion for my work as well. UT: So…what’s next for Candice RNB? RNB: Man...The sky is the limit from what I’ve heard! We are definitely going to do albums and tours and shows. And my main strong point is performing, I really want to reach the people and be personable and touchable. My main thing is touring and getting the music out. UT: It’s interesting that you mentioned reaching out to the fans in general, I we noticed that you were on Twitter and you post a lot of positive messages to the fans....how important is that to you? CRNB: First and foremost, I’m a Christian, a strong believer in God and Jesus Christ. So I feel if you keep Him first, read that Word and stay prayed up, then you can speak that positivity into the world, no matter what I’m singing. Even with the secular music, I can still show my light, so I’m like, “let me speak a little positive today. “ Also a lot of those quotes come from my music, and I just want to let everyone know, that’s where it comes from, that is my source.

To follow this amazing artist, visit: www.candicernb.com https://www.facebook.com/candicernb

UT: Ok, so now, here’s the 64,000 dollar question..... CRNB: Uh oh..(Laughing) UT: If you had the opportunity to collaborate with a seasoned artist, tell us who would it be? CRNB: Hmm...definitely Beyonce, I’m a big Beyoncé fan. Taking it back… I love Lauren Hill, I, love Tamia, Tank, Musiq Soulchild… UT: Hey, you gotta pick one…..... CRNB: I can't pick one!( laughing) I can’t pick one, there are so many! UT: So basically you are looking forward to working with those amazing artists and longevity in the industry? CRNB: Yes, ones that have lengthy success...and they could teach me something as well.

34.

UT: Any words of encouragement to those brothers or sisters that want to also get into this industry CRNB: Be yourself, be original, it stands out. People will see the fake, and they do see the real. And also remember.....Nothing good happens quick.

eauty from Ashes” is one of the oldest biblical metaphors to-date, and it’s a fitting description of reality star, Momma Dee (Deborah Gaither). She gave birth, and she loves her kids. What could be more beautiful than that? I can’t paint you a rags to riches fable of her life because that just wasn’t her story. Her days of living were raw, and that’s simply put. Deborah left home at an early age, and sought to find her own identity in life—later down the line, she became an R&B singer.

You remember when Tupac said, ‘cause my anger wouldn’t let me feel for a stranger? I didn’t know her. She disinherited me. If anyone goes to YouTube and looks up the video “I Deserve,” I’m showing the same funeral home. My mother disinherited me and didn’t leave me anything. At the end of the day, I just praise God for the honor and privileges and my strength to prevail. That’s all I got ya’ll. If you think that Momma Dee is all glamorous and glitzy then you’re wrong. I When asked about her recent single “I feel like everyone deserves to be loved. Drinkin’ Vegan

Food & Wine TYME

by: April D. Richmond With the Vegan movement gaining momentum daily, it’s time to take a look at something that is surprisingly unvegan, WINE! To the chagrin of many Vegans, most wines fall under the category of “no- no”. What causes wine to not make the Vegan cut, and how can you get around this technical foul? Let’s take a look at some surprising facts and safe wines. Believe it or not, animal products are commonly used in most wines during the fermenting process to remove proteins, yeast and cloudiness often found in wine. These “fining agents” used in the production of wine include blood and bone marrow, casein (milk protein), chitin (fiber from crustacean shells), egg albumen (derived from egg whites), fish oil, gelatin (protein from boiling animal parts), and isinglass (gelatin from fish bladder membranes). If you’re cringing at this point, not to worry, there is short list of wineries stepping ahead of the game and producing organic, 100% Vegan wine! These wineries use non-animal based alternatives like Carbon, vegetable plaque and Limestone as fining agents. The biggest challenge is finding these wine jewels in a sea of unsuspecting vino! The most notable Vegan wine on the market today is also listed on the celebrity wine owner list. It hails from none other than retired NBA champ, and Brooklyn native John Salley who is an outspoken advocate for the Vegan lifestyle. He recently partnered with Vegan Vine Wines and has quickly become the new face of all things Vegan. So far, they’ve produced a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon Blanc, a red blend and a Cabernet Sauvignon that pair with everything from Vegan mac n cheese to Vegan chili! Their flavors are exactly

what you would expect from said wines, and most wouldn’t suspect they’re drinking anything other than delicious wines with fruit forward aroma and well-balanced blends. If you’re not Vegan, but want to take a stab at animal free wines there is something out there for every palate. Try purchasing Vegan wines that are the equivalent to what you normally drink then branch out from there! Here is a list of wineries specializing in wines free of animal based fining agents.
