Why we’re here

As directors on the University of Washington Foundation Board, we’re here because we care. We care about the University and the people who bring ideas—big and small—to life. We care about the community. We care about our State and region and beyond, and are inspired by the globally transformative work being done every day on this campus. And we care about making sure that future generations will have the opportunity to be enriched by all the UW has to offer.

How we do it We work together as a team to support the University’s mission, time and sharing our passion for the UW. In these ways and

and we do so by building relationships, contributing our more, we act as a catalyst for positive change in the community.

The Purple Pages How you can engage, champion and support the

Be a leader

UW Foundation Board Directors provide strategic thought leadership. We forge new paths, speak up, reach out, build relationships and encourage others to get involved. Build and nurture relationships between your peers and the UW. Encourage others to engage with the University. Act as an ambassador on the UW’s behalf at key events to recognize the UW’s most committed donors and friends (e.g., the Annual Recognition Gala, the President’s Club Reception and Henry Suzzallo Society gatherings). Acknowledge your personal involvement with the UW in the community.

Be a scholar

Discovery is at the heart of the UW. You play a crucial role in championing academic excellence, cutting-edge research, creative expression and the countless other ways the UW makes an impact in our world. Learn and share the UW’s story. Help communicate how the UW is advancing our world. Connect with faculty or Advancement staff in areas where your interests and passions intersect. Enrich your relationship with the UW and demonstrate your enthusiasm for learning by attending public lectures and performances or taking a class. Keep UW materials in a prominent place in your office and/or home to share with friends and peers. Attend UW Foundation Deep Dive events.

Be an insider

UW Foundation Board Directors engage with the UW at the deepest level to support the University’s mission and standing as a world-class institution. By giving your time and expertise, you can help advance the University. Participate on a UW Foundation committee or task force. Contribute to higher education advocacy efforts coordinated by UW Impact. Lend your expertise and passion in areas that matter to you to advance the UW’s strategic efforts. Communicate UW messages and stories with the community and those within your sphere of influence to build and deepen relationships with the University. Help community members learn more about the UW by inviting them to UW events.

Be a supporter

Your involvement with the UW shows your commitment to the University’s future. By volunteering, you play a critical role in growing the circle of supporters so that the UW— and the community—can continue to thrive. Demonstrate your leadership and commitment by thoughtfully making a gift to the UW; make annual gifts to gain membership in The President’s Club. Identify and connect potential supporters with Advancement staff to help build and nurture long-term relationships. Support the UW by hosting faculty, students and staff in your home, workplace or elsewhere. Help recognize the UW’s donors through handwritten notes, emails and phone calls.
