Special Session on Component-Based Software Engineering London Metropolitan University, London, United Kingdom August 4-5, 2009 http://cs.ubbcluj.ro/~avescan/diwt-cbse-2009 Goal and Scope Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE) is concerned with designing, selecting and composing components. Software systems are built by assembling components already developed and prepared for integration. The main objective of CBSE is to obtain a more efficient development with shorter development times and better quality products: using an existing component, rather than developing a new one is often the quickest and cheapest method of meeting any given need. The goal of this special session is to point out the challenges and problems of component-based approach, but also to show the new ideas, solutions and practices. The aim is to bring together researchers and practitioners to share experience and research results, both of works in progress and practical experience, on any topic relevant to building systems from components. Topics Suggested areas of interest include, but are not restricted to:  Analysis/design methods for building component-based systems;  Selection/evaluation criteria for components and assemblies of components;  Configuration management of components and component compositions;  Update and reconfiguration of component architectures;  Component software vs. object orientation, multi-agent systems, and aspect oriented development;  Extra-functional system properties of components and component-based systems;  Development environments and tools for building component-based systems;  Case studies and experience reports. Submission Submissions to the special session will be judged on the basis of originality, relevance, technical soundness and presentation quality. Papers should be written in English and not exceed 6 pages, including illustrations. Papers are to be numbered starting from page one. Authors should format the papers according to the IEEE template. Submission to the special session goes to the chair directly with cc to diwt@dirf.org.
