41st International Two-Day Walk Blankenberge Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May 2010 Over the last 40 years, the Internationale Tweedaagse van Vlaanderen (International Two-Day Walk of Flanders) has undoubtedly earned its spot on the walking calendar. At last year’s 40th edition, we welcomed over 10,000 participants, all of them enjoying the event to the full extent. It would be jumping to conclusions to think that the 41st edition would be less memorable. On the contrary, we feel obliged to live up to your expectations to the same extent and, if possible, even better. We remain convinced that our participants share our basic values and we want to keep these as our main goals. As a sporting event, the Tweedaagse wants to honour the healthy mind in a healthy body philosophy. Walking is a common gift and does not require large investments, a pair of good walking shoes will already get you a long way. Even the smallest effort can improve the physical condition by giant leaps and combined with healthy food, excess weight will belong to the past very soon. People that prefer the relaxing nature of a walk over the bodily exercise will also find themselves on the right track participating in our walk. Of course, most people know Blankenberge’s vast beach and beautiful horizon. However, Blankenberge’s offer to nature lovers is much larger: apart from the officially recognised nature reserves (the Uitkerkse Polders, the Fonteintjes, …), the attentive walker will also enjoy nature in more off-the-beaten-track areas, such as the rural villages, the wooded dunes between Wenduine and De Haan, the area around the Schipdonk- and Leopold-canal, … On the road, people that indulge in more worldly pleasure will be spoilt by tasty snacks on different occasions or they can quench their thirst at one of the water bars. And let’s not forget the refreshing Brugse Zot that eagerly awaits our participants in the party tent.
The international nature of our event will also allow you to get a taste of different cultures. This year, we will pay special attention to Catalonia, a Spanish region. A brief introduction to our theme region can be found further in this prospect. Once again, our youngest participants are one step ahead this year. Bouncy castles and the make-up stand have become fixed ingredients of our walk. Apart from that, the smallest ones among our walkers will again have the opportunity to explore our seaside resort and its direct surroundings together with Seven, Blankenberge’s smallest giant. Do we still have to convince you to participate in our walk? In that case, we gladly invite you to come to Blankenberge yourself to have a sip of the cosy atmosphere. We are sure that you will not need much more to make your move.
Registration
For this edition we keep on promoting to register in advance. This is possible as from 1 February.
In advance
You can register via our website http://www.2daagse.be or via the VVV (tourist office); tel. +32-50-41 22 27. Online We advise registration online. This way of registration is possible till 15 April. Info about how and where on our website at http://www.2daagse.be. VVV/Tourist Office Walkers who cannot book online can do this via the tourist office (VVV) of Blankenberge. Pay the correct amount to the account of the “VVV Blankenberge” (no. 280-0493687-91) – mentioning “2daagse” and the number of cards per type (e.g. “2daagse, 3 x 1 day, 2 x 2 days”). Make sure all the details are mentioned so that the cards can be mailed. All registrations in this manner can be processed until 15 April. After this
date, the processing of registrations cannot be guaranteed in time. Registration is still possible at the office of the VVV Blankenberge itself until the day before the walk, being 30 April 2010. That day the VVV office will exceptionally be open until 20:00 hrs. On the Spot
Participants who wish to register on the spot can do so only at the registration desk in the tent.
Registration Fee
The fee depends on the amount of days one is participating and on whether or not you are a member of a club associated with a Belgian walking federation. We give an extra discount to the youth movement. The fee includes an elaborate sampling such as Brugse Zot and loads of ambiance on the tracks.

Last year, our guests came from the East. The presence of the vast Taiwanese delegation has not been forgotten yet. This year our guests will be coming from southern Europe. A Catalan delegation will colour and flavour this year’s edition. Not only will they join us on the various walks, they will also give us a taste of Catalan gastronomy and culture. A dancing group from Barcelona will show us the Flamenco and the Stick Dance. We are convinced that their presence will be a surplus to our event and will create a special atmosphere at the Market Square, along the walks and in the party tent. We hope they will bring along the Spanish sun and will help us reach the 10.000 walkers once more. We are 100% sure that this year’s edition will be a FIESTA!!
Environmental Tips • If you bring along your packed lunch, make use of a lunch box; • Avoid the use of throw-away material as much as possible; • Never throw tin cans, cups or other waste to the ground, thus avoiding roaming rubbish and showing respect for our precious polder and nature; • Make use of the waste containers available, even if you have to walk an extra 10 meters; • Sort out your disposable material correctly: choose the correct container on the waste islands; • Take only those promotion folders which are of interest to you. Festivities What once began as a Two-Day Walk has become a true event. An event that has outgrown an ordinary stroll in the park. It has become a brisk and lively event. The participants can choose between 4 walks: Saturday 1 May South-west region of Blankenberge: Uitkerke, Wenduine, De Haan, Vlissegem, Meetkerke, Nieuwmunster and Zuienkerke. Bouncy castle walk ± 6 km – groupstart from 10 hrs Animation walk ± 15 km – groupstart from 10 hrs Sporty nature walk ± 24 km – groupstart from 10 hrs ± 42 km (marathon) – groupstart from 8:00 hrs Long distance walk

Klaver 4: Some explication Klaver 4 (Clover 4) is a combination of 4 walks that take place in Flanders. Those who participate at all 4 events over a 3-year period receive a nice souvenir. The following walks are part of Clover 4: 2010
