40th International Two-days Walk of Flanders Saturday 2 May and Sunday 3 May The International Two-days Walk of Flanders celebrates its 40th anniversary. With the new and rejuvenated team, we do not wish to let this opportunity pass by without a real celebration. Just like in the previous years, we will try to emphasize certain items without forgetting the old ones. Healthy nutrition, a healthy body, attention for the environment, fraternization … these will always remain the supporting pillars of our organization. This year we will draw extra attention to Blankenberge and its vicinity as the ultimate meeting point for walkers. The theme of this year will be “Action – prospect with introspect of the coastal landscape”. By choosing this subject, we will point out that our Flemish coast, particularly Blankenberge, is the perfect location for a meaningful holiday with the whole family, young and old. This we wish to illustrate by giving an insight into the magnificent panoramic views of our seaside to the high number of walkers. Guests for this year are Taiwan and the other IML countries. Together with us, the different delegations will give this special edition a colourful touch.
Forty years ago, we counted 505 walkers for the start. This year it would be fantastic if we could exceed 10.000 participants. In order to achieve this goal we have renewed the tracks to the south-west. We still walk across the historically highly valued concession of De Haan. But this year our picturesque polder villages of Vlissegem and Meetkerke will be in the limelight again. In addition, you will receive interesting details regarding the panoramic view. After this, we hope to be able to welcome you in the festive tent where you can enjoy a Brugse Zot or something else, together with other walkers. This edition should be a feast also for the younger participants. Our walk coincides with the “Week of the Sea”. The walkers of the 6 Km track will certainly be able to participate in one of the activities which cast a surprising view on our North Sea. With the extra bouncy castles, make up stands, etc. along the courses the youngsters will be really spoiled. As you can see this edition will guaranteed be a
feast!!!

Walkers who cannot book online can also do this via the VVV of Blankenberge. Pay the correct amount to the account of the VVV Blankenberge (no. 280-0493687-91) – mentioning “2daagse” and the number of cards per sort (e.g. “2daagse, 3 x 1 day, 2 x 2 days”). Make sure all the details are mentioned so that the cards can be mailed. All registrations in this manner can be processed until 15 April. After this date, the processing of registrations cannot be guaranteed in time. Registration is still possible at the office of the VVV Blankenberge itself until the day before the walk, being 1 May 2009. That day the VVV office will exceptionally be open until 20:00 hrs. Participants who wish to register on the spot can do so only at the registration desk in the tent. Registration Fee The fee depends on the amount of days one is participating and if you are a member of a club associated with a Belgian walking federation. We give an extra discount to the youth movement. The fee includes an elaborate sampling such as Brugse Zot and loads of ambiance on the tracks. In Advance*

This action is completed over a 3-year period. • ‘Golden Clover 4’ = for participants in the longest distance of every march. • Blankenberge : 2 x 42 Km (possibly over 2 years) • Kluisbergen : 2 x 50 Km (possibly over 2 years) • Torhout: 100 km . • IJzer : 4 x 32 Km (in one single year) • ‘Clover 4 = for participants in every march, no matter which distance. A full card means that you have participated in the four walking events. For a full card “Golden Clover 4” the participant receives a nice souvenir. At the annual meeting of the laureates, each participant receives a gift packet. For a full card “Clover 4” the laureate receives a souvenir and a participation ticket in a giant raffle with beautiful prizes. Lost cards cannot be replaced. All decisions concerning this initiative are being taken by a committee consisting of two members entitled to vote and two members of each of the participating organisations.
