CARE AND INCLUSIVITY IN EDUCATION

Teachers impart to students not only traditional knowledge but also some of life’s most important lessons. To do the job well, educators must create an inclusive classroom environment that enables all students, including those with special needs, to reach their full potential.

MEETING A GROWING NEED IN SPECIAL EDUCATION

Trinity Western University’s Master of Arts in Educational Studies – Special Education (MAES–SPED) prepares teachers to meet the broad range of special educational needs specific to students’ cognitive, social-emotional, and sensory differences. This program is specifically designed to empower teachers to meet the needs of the growing number of students with extraordinary learning challenges. Equip yourself with the tools required to meet the needs of all your students.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Designed for working educators, this program combines condensed two-week summer classes with 12-week online classes in fall and spring—allowing you to continue your teaching employment throughout the program. Students complete the MAES–SPED program over the course of two years, plus one additional summer. This program has been approved by the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education. Step into your calling as a teacher who nurtures an environment where students are seen and developed beyond what their abilities might be.

Our maes–sped program empowers teachers by enriching their research-based knowledge and enhancing their skills. The program enables teachers to guide children with exceptionalities to thrive and to attain their utmost potential. Lara Ragpot, Program Director,

maes–sped

Now that I’m doing my PhD at the University of Edinburgh, it is very evident that the academic rigor of this program helped develop my academic proficiency in research design and methodology. Brendan Kwiatowski, maes–sped, 2016

Our goal in the maes–sped is to bring the head, heart and hands of educators together. Knowledge is important and skills are needed, but the value-added feature of our program is that we also address the heart of the teacher. Ken Pudlas, Founder,
