Of course, our tried and tested Trattlerhof experiences complete with alpine charm will always have their place at the Hof. This extends to the careful, ongoing improvements and renovations that will make the Trattlerhof fit for our next generation of guests. In this issue of the Hofpost, we will report on the opening of our Trattlers Hof chalets – we‘re already looking forward to hearing what our guests have to say. The Trattlerhof was the first tourist business in the Nockberge to be awarded the EU eco-label by Minister of the Environment Rupprechter.
In December 2017, Trattlers Hof team started a new chapter in the history of the Hof with its new private chalets right on the ski slopes as well as hiking and biking trails.
The new philosophy of Bad Kleinkirchheim is to offer attractive hiking and biking activities in the summer and winter.

Even more environmentally-friendly in the future When renewing its Austrian eco-label, the Trattlerhof was awarded the European eco-label for the first time in 2017. Minister of the Environment Andrä Rupprechter made special mention of the eco services for the guests of Trattlers Hof. But they weren‘t the only ones to benefit from this unique concept, as a leader for e-mobility in the Nockberge, many other businesses learned of the benefits of environmentally-friendly mobility.

Starting today, the best e-car in the world will begin serving the guests of the Trattlerhof Thanks to the Tesla Model X 100D and no less than 9 fast charging stations at the hotel, the chalet restaurant Einkehr and the new Trattler‘s Hof chalets, all ”e-mobility enthusiasts“ can take full advantage of this outstanding network. Starting-today, a brand-new Tesla Model X 100D will be joining Trattler‘s fleet. In addition to short trips in the town, all Hof guests can also test the latest generation of e-car or hire it for a half or full day. In addition to its range of approx. 450 Km and a spacious interior, it is also ideal for transfers to the airport or train station. Horseback riding at the Trattlerhof has been a tradition for over 50 years

We ensure that all our participants are professionally prepared for their lessons, whether

The Trattler‘s Pony Farm close to the Einkehr chalet restaurant and Chalet Village, offer younger guests plenty of variety. Our ponies can be groomed, led through an obstacle course, and you can even bake them their own pony cookies.

Stories of wine, craft beer, distillates and more The Winzer am Berg‘ (Winemaker on the Mountain) event series started as a way to present Austria‘s finest wines. Craft beer and exquisite spirits are now rubbing shoulders with the mighty grape more and more often. Vineyards and Carinthia‘s Nockberge have one thing in common – their steep edges and gentle peaks make for spectacular landscapes. Against this wonderful backdrop, the winemakers featured in the event series ”Winzer am Berg“ present their fine wines in familiar surroundings at the Trattlerhof Hotel in Bad Kleinkirchheim. All year round, a selection of leading wineries such as Erich & Walter Polz, Kollwentz or Schloss Gobelsburg from Austria take centre stage during weekends dedicated to the culinary arts. In doing so, the team at the Trattlers Hof maintains a long tradition. As early as the 17th century, the Trattlerinnkeeper had a licence to run a tavern and sell alcoholic beverages - including wine.

New impulses relating to crow investing, media and security 55 ”Impuls am Berg“ occasions (Impulse on the Mountain) - exciting dialogues covering current events, science, history and culture. Every month, the initiators Uwe Träger, an evangelic clergyman from Bad Kleinkirchheim, and hotelier Jakob Forstnig invite interesting personalities to discuss thought-provoking topics. 2017 was dedicated to the theme of successful crowd investment with the financial service provider Finnest leading the Trattlerhof to a record result. Editor in chief Hannes Mößlacher of the Kronen Zeitung (newspaper) provided the modern media landscape. Brigardier Walter Gitschtaler answered questions regarding European
security, traditional coffee producer Johannes Hornig inspired java lovers and regional tradespeople showcased their skills in crib building and the glazier trade. ”We don‘t just cater to the physical wellbeing of our guests, we also want to do something for their spirit and mind“ explains Jakob Forstnig jun. ”Trattlers Einkehr“ – HOT SPOT for food and drink in Carinthia‘s Nockberge There is always something going on in and around Einkehr. As a result, the new fish smoking & bread baking oven is not only a delight for the eye, but also for the taste buds. The epicurean host expands the culinary offering with its programme of activities. According to the opinions of many of our guests, the new ”eye-catcher“ on the sunny patio of Einkehr is the fish smoking and bread baking oven. After all, since summer, guests of Einkehr have enjoyed freshly smoked trout and char from our very own fish pond. Guests also have the chance to use the smoking oven at special times every Monday and Thursday. Anyone who doesn‘t want to eat the fillets or entire fish right away, can take them home vacuum-packed.

In April, a ”whos who‘ of local politics, business and tourism, came together as part of the ground-breaking ceremony for the Trattlers Hof Chalets.
In March, the popular radio station Antenne Kärnten will celebrate its customer ski day with a live DJ and vibrant après ski party.
In January, the Audi FIS women‘s ski world cup will be held in Bad Kleinkirchheim. Before the races begin, the stars from the scene as well as former ski legends will convene at Einkehr and celebrate the upcoming World Cup weekend.

• 150 ml oil • 100g white sugar • 250g onions • 200g carrots • 150g celery root • 150g parsnip • 80g tomato purée • 70g plum jam • ½ litre Madeira wine • 2cl brandy

From Monday to Sunday, guests come to Trattlers Einkehr to indulge in delicious food and drink, but also to enjoy the supporting programme that offers plenty of variety. Whether the daily relaxing aprés ski in the winter or pleasant music, grill and chill on Einkehr‘s patio. There‘s a lot going on at Trattler‘s Einkehr. There is also never a dull moment for our youngest visitors since there‘s always something happening at our pony farm.
Recipe
From lederhose to a dégustation menu When it comes to the weekly programme, you don‘t want to miss lederhose Wednesday with ”Quetschn music“ or the torch-lit excursion with horses and ponies to camp fires, whether in the summer or winter. A Stelzn and Ripperl (pork knuckle and ribs) feast on Friday is the perfect way to wind up a holiday or the dégustation menu spanning various wines, which is famous in Bad Kleinkirchheim and beyond.
• Bay leaves, juniper berries, thyme, rosemary, salt, peppercorns • 80g corn starch • 400g potatoes • 1 egg • 500g wild mushrooms • 720g saddle of venison • 150g butter • 60g flour • Nutmeg, salt, ground white pepper, chives
Instructions: Madeira sauce: Caramelise the white sugar in oil until light brown, then we add in the finely chopped onions and the carrots cut into pieces, celery roots and parsnips. Then you add the tomato paste and plum jam. The ingredients will now be lightly browned and brewed with beef broth. Then add the bay leaves, juniper berries, peppercorns, a small amount of thyme, rosemary and salt. Once half of it has boiled away, the broth is brewed with the Madeira wine and boiled for another 10 minutes. Then strain the broth and it will bind with some cornstarch. As a finishing touch, a few drops of brandy and a shot of Madeira wine are added.

Dauphine potatoes: Boil the potatoes in salt water until they have been cooked through, then purée them. Once the puréed potatoes have cooled down somewhat, add butter, e.g. yolk, flour and nutmeg. Mix the egg white, which has been whipped up, with a small amount of chives and ground white pepper and add it to the potato mixture. Fill the entire mixture into an icing bag and make little rosettes on a greased tray, coat with egg yolk and bake in the oven.
