An unforgettable experience

Montana I-90 Exit 33 And in the fall if you want to set up a hunting trip, they are ready, licensed, and waiting. But book your trip now, hunting camp fills up early.

Fully guided adventures in Montana Experienced or not. First timer or an old hand at the fly rod, Cantrell Outfitting is a must add to your Montana/Idaho outdoors experience. Spend a half day, full day or more on the beautiful Clark fork River in Mineral County Montana. You can catch up to Joe and his crew in St. Regis, Montana, take exit 33 and go north just a mile to the fly shop. If you are hungry, grab a bite a the Ok Cafe, before heading out. (You’ll love the pie, if you just want a quick snack.) Make the fly shop your first stop. Joe and the crew will make sure you are outfitted for a successful trip. They have all of the licenses and the gear you need. Fly fishing instruction, fly rod and reel, flies, lunch, soft drinks and transportation are included in the price of your trip, so don’t worry you will be well taken care of. You should also consider taking the Cantrell’s up on their drift boat and raft rentals. They will shuttle you to and from, and the cafe will fix your lunch.

And when the sun starts to set, you can put your feet up at the Lodge. Watch the Clark fork river trail off into the sunset while you sip your favorite beverage, and cast a line or two to test your luck. The Lodge is modern and sits on the banks of the Clark Fork. Relax in the jacuzzi, wade in the river, sit on the beach, or take in a game of horse shoes. The evenings are cool and the beds are comfortable. But best of all, you will head home relaxed, refreshed with an unforgettable Montana experience under belt. See you in St. Regis, Montana. And don’t forget to tell your friends you caught the big one.

Alberton, Montana 59820

ere’s a place where ghostly trains still run on time, a place where mountains live large, where rivers crash through timeless gorges, and where folks still take time to get to know you. Welcome to Alberton, Montana, an old railroad town without a railroad, but still with plenty to offer. Alberton is the gateway to the Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River, western Montana’s best white water rafting, not to mention some of the best fly fishing anywhere. If you prefer an arm chair to a raft, there is also an historical book store worth the drive and the time to browse. You can grab a latte at the knitting shop or lunch at the cafe, pick up groceries (and liquor) at the local grocery, find all of your hardware and western needs at the feed store, and end your day with a good conversation at either of the local bars. Right on the main street (maybe the only street) is a bed and breakfast recently selected as one of eight “Best of the Rockies” by BedandBreakfast.com. Ghost Rails Inn was established as The Montana Hotel in 1909. This historic railroad hotel, now a B&B, is AAA approved and boasts nine uniquely decorated guest rooms, seven with private baths, two that share a bath, and all with free wireless internet. Just minutes away you will find: downhill and cross-country skiing, the National Bison Range, Montana’s best white water rafting and kayaking, fly fishing, hunting, horseback riding, Lolo National Forest and the Bitterroot Mountains, the spectacular Route of the Hiawatha Bike Trail, and of course the wonderful Montana Valley Bookstore with over 150,000 books. Alberton is charming reminder of simpler times just off Interstate 90 at exits 75 or 77, west of Missoula.

““100,000 Used Books.”

That’s what the sign on the hhighway says. Actually it’s more lik like 150,000, but who’s counting! Lo Looking for a good read? So Something no longer in print? So Something rare? Or just like to bbrowse old books and visit the cl classics? Keren Wales invites you to stop by. There you will find ppaperbacks, b k hardbacks h and books in and out oof print. Keren runs the book store with help ffrom Scarlet the cat and other members of the family. Her father ran it before her, until 1981. Many of the books are ones he picked up on bicycle trips across the British Isles. Keren says: “My aim is to get as many books as possible into the hands of the people who will love them the most. Running a used book store with old books that are sometimes hard to find is a public service, like a museum or a library. There’s value in just having those books there for the public to look at, even if they don’t take them home.” You will find the store nestled in a mountain valley along Interstate 90, in the town of Alberton, Montana, just 30 miles west of Missoula, Montana, and 140 miles east of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho

Spend a night in Ghost Rails Inn, spend a night in yesterday. T

he luxurious experience of a Bed and Breakfast for the price of a motel room in Missoula! You not only get a better night’s sleep, but you’re away from the cookie-cutter chains, and you‘ll wake up to a wonderful home cooked breakfast in a newly remodeled historic hotel. What could be better? Thom says “People who stay here don’t know what to expect. We’re kind of out of the way, and we’re not as expensive as most bed and breakfasts.” But if you check the reviews online you’ll see why the guests are raving about Ghost Rails Inn. They love the nine comfortable guest rooms on the second floor, each with a unique theme celebrating the history and natural beauty of Montana, and they love Thom and Grace, with their relaxed hospitality and their outrageous stories. Garrett and Doyle bill their inn as “a place where ghostly trains still run on time” which you might imagine as you look across the street to the old depot and dream of getting off the train in Alberton, MT. Ghostly trains, or just plain ghosts, you might see either at the inn. Nothing to be afraid of, but there have been enough odd occurrences here to make even a skeptic like Thom believe that the spirit of a former innkeeper returns now and then to tidy up the rooms. Many guests spend a night at the inn because it is a convenient stop as they travel I-90. Many make this their base camp for wilderness adventures in the mountains or shopping excursions in Missoula. More and more, the inn is ndd reunions. becoming known as an event site for small gatherings such as weddings and Thom also hosts Murder Mystery Parties, and Grace, with 15 years as a profesoffessional long-arm quilter, has hosted retreats for quilt guilds from throughout utt the Pacific Northwest. More information about retreats, Mystery Parties, and special events is available online at www.ghostrailsinn.com.
