The OXO segment, Grupa Azoty’s third-largest product segment, generates 9% of its total revenue. We are the sole manufacturer of OXO alcohols in Poland, ranking fifth in Europe. We are also Poland’s largest and Europe’s fifth-largest producer of plasticizers. The OXO segment trading strategy is based on partnership where the experience, dialogue, needs and response to these needs generate benefits and ensure business development. The state-of-the-art plant manufacturing the first Polish non-phthalate plasticizer Oxoviflex®, honoured just after the commencement of the production by Polska Agencja Rozwoju Przedsiębiorczości [Polish Agency for Enterprise Development] which awarded it the title of “Polski Produkt Przyszłości” [Polish Product of the Future], is an unquestionable asset to the OXO segment.

Our markets Grupa Azoty sells OXO alcohols, plasticizers and aldehydes both in the domestic and foreign markets; strategically important is the EU market, where Grupa Azoty sells over 66% of the products. 24% of Grupa Azoty’s output is sold domestically. With an annual production capacity for OXO alcohols at 225,000 tonnes, Grupa Azoty has a 12% share of the EU market.1 Grupa Azoty’s plasticizers production capacity is 86,000 tonnes, translating into a 5% share in the EU market.2 Sales to the EU market 66%

In 2015, a new non-phthalate plasticizer unit was placed in service at Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN. It is a response to growing demand for innovative solutions for the PVC processing market. With this most advanced plasticizer unit in this part of Europe, Grupa Azoty will be able to produce 50,000 tonnes of Oxoviflex ® per year.

Applications OXO alcohols are used in the production of plasticizers, solvents, acrylates, acetates, fuel additives, paints and varnishes. Plasticizers are used as softeners and emulsifiers, to obtain substances with the required mechanical properties, including PVC plastics. Plasticizers make PVC products flexible and pliable. They are widely used in the construction and automotive industries as well as in the manufacturing of footwear, cables, wires, packaging and medical products.

Higher and higher quality standards applicable to the products offered by Grupa Azoty, expected especially by plastic processors, but also by other customers, are reflected in the OXO segment offer. New generations of innovative ester products, offered mainly as plasticizers and also for other applications, increasingly act as “smart” additives. The OXO segment is preparing a range of such substances in accordance with strict European REACH chemical legislation to maintain the position of a leading manufacturer. In the next few years, our customers will be offered special plasticizers, including those with a high content of renewable raw materials.
