LIFELINES

“Suicidal individuals with or without a terminal illness typically do not want to die… The patient requesting assisted suicide is often asking, ‘Does anyone want me to be alive, or care enough to talk me out of this request and support me through this difficult time?’”

~ USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, “Every Suicide is Tragic”

DIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL

Once again, thank you to everyone for your very generous contributions to the 2022 Diocesan Annual Appeal. We received our rebate check for $ 8,636.25, which represents 75% of the amount our parish raised over our goal for 2022. This is a great benefit for St. Brigid Parish!

“Celebration Weekend” for the 2023 Diocesan Annual Appeal is THIS weekend, September 23rd and 24th. We will see the video prepared by Bishop Bambera. Gifts of any size are welcome and your participation is important to our success again this year. Pledge cards are available in your pew. You can fill it out and place it in the collection basket or scan the QR code on the pledge card to make your gift online.

Our goal for 2023 is $ 22,000.00. This is the same amount as last year. So far we have raised $ 3,800.00 (17% of our goal) and are under our goal by $ 18,200.00.

Deacon’s NOTE

In jus ce the fewer hours a person worked, the less pay he should have received but the landowner knew that what he was offering the workers was minimal and that to give a person less, the family would be le hungry. He went beyond jus ce, mo vated by compassion.

Yet Jesus points out that the reward for their long work (heaven) is fair, and the only reason that others receive this same reward is because of the generosity of the landowner (God). It is his (God’s) to do with as he pleases. So long as we have not been treated unjustly, how could we reasonably complain that God is generous to others?

Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.

Are there mes when I selfishly consider myself more deserving than others?

God Bless. Deacon Ron Maida
