To those who care for the sick, the scene of the Cross provides a way of understanding that even when it seems that there is nothing more to do there remains much to do, because ‘remaining’ by the side of the sick is a sign of love and of the hope that it contains. Healed by Jesus, we become men and women called to proclaim his healing power and provide care for our neighbors, until the very end.” ~ USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities “The Witness of the Good Samaritan: Palliative Care and Hospice”

Deacon’s NOTE Jesus is calling to leave aside our differences, implicit biases, and prejudices, and start replacing them with love. Jesus also calls us to ques on ourselves what are our priori es in everything we do as we tend to overtake unimportant situa ons over the need for love. The message of Jesus is all-embracing and covers all our rela onships, from family, friends, and partners. But it even goes further than that, as we are called to love the wider community……… I might want to gaze on this scene and look with compassion at the Sadducees and Pharisees. It might be a blessing if I can catch sight of myself among them. God Bless. Deacon Ron Maida FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS—NOVEMBER 4
