PLEASE KEEP THE FAITH

A Pastor has still not been appointed to St. Brigid Parish. Please have faith that a Pastor or Administrator will soon be appointed. The Priest that Bishop Bambera planned to send is not available at this time, making it necessary to move on to a different plan. We have been assured that someone will be coming in the near future, either as Pastor or to fill in until our Pastor arrives. In the mean-time, pray for a Priest to get here soon and for more vocations to the Priesthood in this Diocese. There will be no weekday Masses until further notice.

MASS IN REMEMBRANCE OF VICTIMS OF VIOLENT OR TRAGIC DEATH

The Diocese of Scranton is offering the annual Mass in remembrance of victims of violent or tragic death. This Mass is offered for the families and friends of those who have died in tragedy, especially through murder, suicide, and accident. This Mass is a way for family and friends to remember and celebrate the lives of these victims and to stand together surrounded in God’s love.

The Mass will be on Tuesday, July 25th, at 7:00PM in Saint Peter’s Cathedral, 315 Wyoming, Scranton. All persons who have lost a loved one through tragic and traumatic death are invited to this liturgy. Mass will be televised on CTV.

The Books of Remembrance will not be available to search for a name, but instead will be placed near the altar. You are encouraged to register the name of your loved one for entry into the Book of Remembrance. We ask that the names of deceased loved ones are registered on registration forms which are available in the back of the Church or on the Diocese of Scranton’s website, www.dioceseofscranton.org. All forms must be received by July 19th.

Deacon’s NOTE

The people who were listening to Jesus’ words seem weary. Jesus’ words sound like a stream of living water. These people are not powerful, they are not educated, however they are able to understand Jesus’ message. I pause and think about the fact that I have been entrusted with this message. I give thanks for that.

Jesus’ invita on is to follow Him but in a way that is freeing and that brings much joy, even when life brings its own burdens. What burdens am I carrying at the moment? Can I hand them over to Jesus in this me of prayer?
