MASS IN REMEMBRANCE OF VICTIMS OF VIOLENT OR TRAGIC DEATH

The Diocese of Scranton is offering the annual Mass in remembrance of victims of violent or tragic death. This Mass is offered for the families and friends of those who have died in tragedy, especially through murder, suicide, and accident. This Mass is a way for family and friends to remember and celebrate the lives of these victims and to stand together surrounded in God’s love.

The Mass will be on Tuesday, July 25th, at 7:00PM in Saint Peter’s Cathedral, 315 Wyoming, Scranton. All persons who have lost a loved one through tragic and traumatic death are invited to this liturgy. Mass will be televised on CTV.

The Books of Remembrance will not be available to search for a name, but instead will be placed near the altar. You are encouraged to register the name of your loved one for entry into the Book of Remembrance. We ask that the names of deceased loved ones are registered on registration forms which are available in the back of the Church or on the Diocese of Scranton’s website, www.dioceseofscranton.org. All forms must be received by July 19th.

Deacon’s NOTE

The words of Jesus do not all bear fruit. Knowing this did not stop Jesus from speaking, but he con nued to proclaim good news, truth and life to any who would listen. I take care to review the measures by which I value my ac ons and words. I pray for the strength to con nue speaking and ac ng –even in the absence of evident encouraging results.

Truth is not determined by a majority, but is sca!ered abroad, being recognized and valued by some. I ask God to help me to hear Jesus’ word for me and to take it to heart…………….

Thanks. Deacon Ron Maida
