Finally the day has come for us to contribute to “The Student” e-Magazine club - the only club which has never looked back since its inception (i.e., July, 2011). We truly feel privileged to have an opportunity to promote an institution like ours through a Campus eMagazine that gives us a platform to air the incredible creativity of our students. The Student e-Magazine is set on a purpose to inform, engage, inspire and entertain a diverse readership – Including students, faculty and administrative staff – by presenting an intimate, timely and honest portrait of the University – its people, its programs, its challenges, its resources and its mission. The e-Magazine endeavours to reflect the values and the quality of the institution itself. By maintaining the respect and interest of its readers, we have this 8th edition which holds a bonanza of all the events that took place in and out of the campus. RGUKT 1st Convocation, MOM Success meet, Swach Bharath, MechSpurts and Engineers Day Celebrations are some of the major attractions of this edition. There are many more such attractions that are waiting to be read. The other remarkable aspect of this edition is that we have also managed to add some new interesting and informative sections- The CDPC and The Review Section. To add more humour, we have got our Leisure Page back. Ordinary people, marginalised voices, centralised ideas and new ways of expression will all come together within the pages of “The Student”, to deliver something new and fresh and sometimes, maybe something completely unexpected. To wrap up this note, we are very much thankful to our seniors who have been supporting us through out and who have helped us in enriching our team spirit, especially Moulik Reddy Pinninty. On behalf of all the team members, without whose support nothing might have been possible, we extend our gratitude to the senior The Student e-Magazine club. So take some time out of your busy schedule to ‘The Student’ the many different threads that weave the fabric of this Edition.

— Celebrating the Lights of joy

ello IIITians! Diwali is a festival which has gained its popularity owing to the nature of its celebrations. Its religious significance is now lost in the universal feelings of goodness and joy which envelope everyone on this day. Giving gifts has always been an important ritual of the festival of Diwali. Diwali gifts are symbols of love and affection that we give to our loved ones. We, the girls of IIIT, have gifted ourselves with joy and enthusiasm by celebrating this auspicious day in a grand way. This day is symbolized with lightening up the houses with diyas and candles. So, we started our celebrations with the lightening ceremony and the chief guests were Mrs. Vijayabhanu(Telugu Mentor), Miss Sameena (HRT), Ms. Ramadevi, Ms. Sirisha (HRT), Telugu Mentor Mr. Vijay and also one of the Bio-science faculties, Mr. Rakesh Reddy. We also had the colourful “Rangoli competitions” held at GH-II. The entire event was organized by the Women Welfare Organization (WWO) and Youth Events and Welfare Association. Many girls actively took part in this event, making the evening

even more colourful. It comprised of many entertaining acts and dances by the girls from P1 to E4. The lamplightening ceremony was followed by a traditional dance and the energy continued with many exciting performances. Even though the event was planned unexpectedly, there was awesome participation from the girls. The most exhilarating part was the ‘Ramp walk’ by the volunteers. A simple gift represents warmth and love associated with the festival and the gift. So, our committee has gifted the winners of rangoli competition, Nagamani and Sushma of E4. A quiz had also been conducted in the middle of the event related to our epics and the winners were given small gifts. The event wrapped up with the crackers provided by the institution to all the girls. The main cause for engineering this event was to rejoice ourselves and to shape the affectionate bonding among seniors and juniors. Hoping such genial events ingeminate further more in the future.

Au Revoir

J

- Parting is such a Sweet Sorrow

ust as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so does virtue appear from good deeds, and wisdom appears from pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of college life, a student needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue. Right from day-one of this precious part of our life, we are continuously guided by our seniors. When we ourselves found some juniors, in our second year, we realized that a healthy interaction with seniors not only plays a significant role in curriculum, but also helps one to get rid of homesickness and adjust in a totally new environment. The establishment of a family in the form of various forums and clubs inculcated a sense of responsibility and

craftsmanship in us, and further strengthened the bond with our immediate seniors, i.e., the 2k8 batch. Our seniors have always been charming, supporting, encouraging, and care-taking – in short, our true friendly guardians in this college. “Knowledge, Insight, Talent, Success – May all come your way You spread for us, the enlightening ray One thing is sure, without the seniors, We couldn’t become full-fledged engineers.”

The REEL Time —Action… Shot… OK…!

A

d-Vie was acquainted with the caption “Let Your Creativity Fly”. This event showcased the groundbreaking thoughts of our scholars and gave a great opportunity to the students to shape out their views. Its primary motto was to encourage the innovative ideas about product merchandising, social awareness and up-growing organizations. There was a huge response from the students with around 50 advertisements on all famed and renowned concepts. The advertisements were again reselected by the faculty and organizing team members and finalized the list to 20. The students had pictured all the ads inside the college premises and they were very contemplative in visualising. Ad-Vie had its embryonic steps by E4 students primarily by Minhaz, Koushik and Sravani who empowered their vigour to make the event a sumptuous success. They have fully planned the event with the support of their batch-mates along with the volunteering hands from juniors. Advertisements were encouraged by all batch students from freshers to final years. Financial backup was offered by the management. Ad-Vie had its outcome on September 21st of 2014, Sunday which was shaped into a fabulous day of gathering. The arrangements team had created a convivial atmosphere on the day. The officials and the faculty were allotted seating in front of AB-I. The hospitality team has taken the work of receiving officials, felicitating them and offering them eatables. They had furnished up in such a way that officials were pleased with the salutation. They had control over the maintenance of discipline in the premises. They had their supportive hand to make the event go on in a pleasant manner. The event had took its way with wonderful words that were shared by our students on Ad-Vie. Later they invited our Honourable Director (I/c) Prof. Appala Naidu followed by the higher officials to light up the Jyothi. Then was the time for the anchors to act to the way and make the audience attracted to the event. The role played by them was quiet appreciable. The anchors had shown up and had coloured the event. The Technical Tennesseans played the short-listed advertisements at the platform very meticulously. The unit had shown their persistence over arranging the presentations in systematic order. The group did not show any lethargy and won over the battle by making the event eye-full to the audience. The arrangement of sound system in an appropriate way was a mas-

sive hurdle, which was somehow managed by the Technical people. To everyone’s astonishment, the first advertisement that was played was casted by our respectable Student Welfare Officer which was based on the saying of our PM Narendra Modi to not only look after one’s daughter but also one’s son. This ad motivated many of the audience and even got a big applause. The presentation of advertisements has started with great expectations and reached the summit. At regular intervals; to entertain the audience, anchors have posed questions on everyday advertisements which brought back the enthusiastic feeling to answer the questions. This created a competitive and instigated environment. Even the students were encouraged to show up their singing skills. After displaying all advertisements, the winners were decided. Our Director had revealed the best of all the advertisements creating a lot of suspense. The audience, participants and the organisers were keen to know the results. Finally the veil was disclosed with the wonderful, well-directed and casted advertisement on Adidas Floppers by Akshay Racharla, E3 and his crew. This was a very comic ad. The crew enjoyed their success roaming all over the ground. The second prize was bagged by patriotic advertisement casting E2 students. This ad was a heart touching one. The third prize was awarded to the advertisement of Organ Donation casted by Rama Krishna and his group of E3 students. Our Director was quite enraptured with the event and congratulated the students for making the event grand success. The organizing team was so delighted with the compliments from the Director. He has also provoked the students to come up with these kind of events. The organising team thanked the students who came up with magnificent ads and also thanked the students who gave great support to the event. They specially expressed their gratitude to the faculty for spending their valuable time. An article about Ad-vie was even published in social media and this has taken the reputation of university to the meridian.

Swachh RGUKT —The message behind the broom

P

rime Minister Narendra Modi launched his nationwide cleanliness campaign, the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ from Valmiki Basti in New Delhi on 2nd October 2014,the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. On this day, he first visited Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and then headed to Valmiki Basti, a housing colony in the capital where sanitation workers live. There, Modiji swept the streets as a symbolic start to the cleanliness drive. Addressing the nation at the launch, he asked India’s 125 crore people to join the mission and promote it to everyone. He also flagged off a walkathon at Rajpath and surprised people by joining it not just for a token of few steps, but marching with the participants till the residence of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, nearly 800 meters away. It’s the start of a new broomance. Swachh Bharat Mission aims to get people to rediscover their roots, and leaves, and other discarded matter so they can make a clean break with the past. In his address, Modiji said the campaign was the best tribute to Mahatma Gandhi who gave us the message “Quit India, Clean India”. He rued that Gandhi’s dream was still unfulfilled and exhorted people to clean every nuke and corner of the country. He stressed the importance of sanitation in many of his speeches. Roughly half of India’s population do not have toilets at their homes, a health and safety problem that Mr. Modi has also vowed to fix. He asked citizens to change their mindsets as cleaning is not only the responsibility of sweepers (or safai karamcharis), it is the responsibility of 125 crore Indian’s. “If Indians can reach Mars at a cheap cost, can we not clean our neighborhoods?”. The ambitious drive includes sweeping, removal of garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from the roads, markets and residential places. The PM, on Independence Day made a clarion call of Swachh Bharat, a massive mass movement to create awareness of cleanliness and hygiene. He said that a clean India is the best tribute that we can pay to Mahatma Gandhi when we celebrate his 150th birth anniversary in 2019. Yet, there is literally a mountain to climb and there clearly need to be specific targets. With the same spirit, we have started this mission in our campus. It’s main aim is to create awareness among the students to maintain a clean and hygienic surroundings, there by embellishing our campus. Swachh Bharat Mission was actually initiated and is being organized by the MME Department in our campus. Interested students and faculty (Ashok, Pradeep Santosh, Rakesh Roshan) of all other departments are also a part of this mission. Let’s have a walk in the campus from Academic Blocks - I & II, Brew berries, Sports ground and finally to the canteen.

What is the main thing that you focus while passing through these places? It’s obviously all the chocolate wrappers, notebook pages, plastic covers, cool drink bottles and so on, which not only stay at one place but drift from one location to other spreading over the dirt or waste over larger area. When it comes to dorms we can’t even imagine the scenario because we know how beautiful our hostel corridors will be, especially on Sundays. Everyone try and keep their rooms or dorms clean, but throw or dump away all the wastage onto the corridor, but they forget that it’s the same dust that enters into their room again. Not only this, but the population of mosquitoes will also increase day by day with the increase of dirt which in turn effects the students with many health issues. Every Sunday this programme is being conducted near the girls hostel and the boys hostel. The interested students voluntarily take part in this, use the gloves and broom sticks and start cleaning (includes gathering the shattered books here and there, lifting the plastic covers) the hostel surroundings. People are never forced to come and to be a part of this mission. But we really want every student to be a part of this cleanliness drive which helps them to learn how to keep the surroundings clean. This also helps in interacting with new members who attend that program and under the guidance of faculty in charges we could get to know lot many things leading to healthy surroundings thus maintaining a good hygiene. We also know that the patients count in the dispensary is always high. Students come with lot many problems like cough, cold, vomiting, fever, headache and giddiness etc. which are mostly caused by unclean environment. Laziness is the main cause where people struggle to move one small thing from here to there. Seeing such clean rooms, corridors or ground refreshes our mind and gives extra energy while working. Whereas, if we see the surroundings full of dirt, wastes scattered, one really feels disappointed, scolds the person who does things like that in his heart, and our peace of mind is lost. Keep the surroundings clean...Try to make every place we visit in this campus as a place for recreation, which keeps our mind calm and enhances our thinking. Live and let others live. Whatever you eat, have it happily, after eating throw the covers or wrappers in the dustbins. Before throwing any waste once think if it was your home, will you throw the garbage wherever you wish? Remember that you have come onto this earth with great struggle and till your last breath you have to live on this same Earth. Then why do we spoil this Holy Earth, it’s natural beauty and the only known planet till today that supports life. Just think about it once

INDEPENDENCE DAY India proudly soars high today...Free and independent. “Saare Jahan se achcha Hindustan Hamara”

I

NDEPENDENCE is the freedom of the soul, a perception of the mind and a feeling understood by the heart. This freedom, perception and more importantly, this feeling is that of liberation, patriotism, self-dependence and other such things. I’m proud to be an Indian. How often have you heard that phrase? How often have you heard that phrase and felt the emotion coming through, like a quiver of arrows? Maybe once, maybe twice or maybe you never gave it a thought. Now that is freedom of thought. Coming back to those rare instances of pride being linked to our nationality, as a part of our identity, we begin to wonder why each and every one of us doesn’t feel that way, every single time our nation is being criticized. Why is it only on the 15th of August or 26th of January we feel ‘Indian’? Why does the pride and patriotism towards our motherland only come out during an IndiaPakistan cricket match? Why does the sudden realization of being Indian occur to us only when we watch a movie like Chak De India? Why? Answer it yourself. Man’s perception of freedom, Independence of India from a common man’s point of view is not only the sense of belonging, but a sense of contribution and existence in every step that our nation takes. Independence is not about rights, but our duties towards the nation. How often do we actually think about the sacrifice, the struggle that has gone into obtaining this freedom that we’re enjoying other than while studying about it in history class? Being proud of my country on Independence Day and Republic Day every year has become more than a habit now.

Independence and its importance in our lives, I feel everyone will feel responsible for our country. I, therefore, wish every Indian to salute our national flag on those particular days wherever they may be present, either in our homeland itself or in some other country. India got independence on 15th August 1947.Every year we celebrate this day with great pomp and gaiety, but this time it’s even more special because it’s the first Independence day after formation of our new TELANGANA state . IIIT - Basar (RGUKT) has been declared as an autonomous college the day before. I want to share my views of 68th Independence Day celebrations in our campus with great excitement. A quick review of the Independence day celebrations in our campus, to those who have attended just refresh your pres-

ence over there and who haven’t attended read this and feel that you too have attended the event. All the students, teaching and non teaching staff attended the morning assembly in the ground and made the flag hoisting ceremony successful. Our NCC cadets welcomed our Hon’ble Director, Prof. Rajendra Sahu and all the dignitaries on their way. Our Director, Prof. Rajendra Sahu garlanded the photos of Gandhiji and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and hoisted the national flag at 8:30 AM. Immediately everyone paid their attention to the Indian tricolor which is flying high, by singing our national anthem “JANA GANA MANA… JAI HIND”. After hoisting the flag, Director said the pledge to the students and people who are present in the ground pledged about their responsibilities as a student. The then Director announced the names of our new administrative team of RGUKT Basar as: Prof. Appala Naidu (Director I/c & Dean Academics), Prof. Kanna Rao (Dean Finance), Prof. Rajeshwar Rao (Administrative Officer), Mr. Balkishan (SWO), Mr. Rahman (Asst. Registar). Then our vocal team members with their soothing voice sang a song and attracted our eyes towards them and in that way the programme was organized successfully.

Lets Not Take Our Independence for Granted. Lets Do Our Bit To Make India a Better Place. Legacy to Live for & Legacy to Die for…. However, this needs to change fast. Every Indian should be a part of this change. With such a lot of brainstorming over RGUKT — Basar

Intensive House Hold Survey

—Spurting zeal of Mechanical Engineers

he fresher’s party organized by the Mechanical department, was held on 27th September, 2014 in the new mess hall. It was a glittering event which framed all the students, faculty and the staff on one stage. It was the idea of the students to organize the freshers’ meet, which later on was approved by Zakir Ahmed (HoD I/c of Dept. of Mechanical). Getting the permission from the authorities was a herculean task for us and there were several other discrepancies but finally everything fell in place and they managed to pull it off in a lavish manner. The event was inaugurated by our Director I/c Sir, Prof. A. Appala Naidu, with the traditional lamp lightening ceremony which was accompanied by a soothing traditional song. As a part of the welcome speech, he appreciated that the valiant efforts and the attention being given to the minute details that went into conducting the event was commendable. He also reminded that organizing these kinds of events can be only possible only if amity exists between students. Director’s speech was followed by an AVI which showcased the significance of Mechanical engineering in the evolution of a scientific human. It was explosive and was received well by everyone. The HoD of Mechanical Engineering Dept. Mr. Zakeer Ahmed and SWO Balkishan addressed the students about the glory of mechanical engineering and importance of fresher’s day. This was the first fresher’s meet of the year and was organized well by the students who divided themselves into several teams namely organizing, cultural, catering, decoration teams and other volunteers. Excited juniors never lost their smile on their face. As the program headed forward it got intensified with the vibrant performances of all the participants. The performances were electrifying and their energy levels shoved the whole Department into a completely new world of fun and entertainment. Our cheers have gone beyond the audible range. There were around 25 performances which included dances, songs and skits. Every performance is unique and fresh in its own regard. It was all fun for students conducting fresher’s party, dancing and cheering up their friends. Fresher’s Day parties will help to allay fear among juniors and develop friendship among the seniors and juniors. The aim of conducting this day is to make the juniors feel comfortable to interact with seniors. Last but not the least our Mech faction, I mean the elite group which consists of faculty and lab assistants have been felicitated with mementos and they delivered their valuable suggestions to the students. They congratulated the students for the grandeur. It turned out to be a memorable event for all those who have attended the fest.

—Statistics of Telangana State

elangana State, with a population of 35 million, was born after a 50- year separatist campaign. The Telangana government’s initiative to carry out an “intensive household survey” is to weed out bogus claimants who are applying for government schemes. The survey is only an attempt by the Telangana government to exclude the names of people from Andhra Pradesh. The Government of Telangana has declared a public holiday on August 19, 2014 (Tuesday) in view of the Intensive Household Survey. In support of their claim, they cited a previous draft survey question seeking information on the origin of the respondents. The Government set 1956 as the cut- off year to determine the nativity of the residents. The survey sought about the number of family members in a household, water tap connection, property tax assessment, LPG & electricity connections, bank account, Aadhaar card, caste certificate, birth certificate, disability, vehicles and lands owned. The Telangana government has conducted this survey to have a rough understanding of the socio--economic status of households so that it would help them in implementing the welfare schemes effectively. All over the Telangana, 90 percent of families enrolled in the survey. The Government has announced a holiday on August 20 only for the staff (enumerators) who participated in the survey but later declared it a public holiday for all. Role of IIIT Students in “Intensive Household Survey” During the survey, the university has been closed for two days (August 19 and 20). Out of 7000 students, around 5000 students went to their homes to attend the survey. On the order of district collector of Adilabad, our SWO, Bal Kishan requested the students to enroll as enumerators. The students were informed about this. Around 500 students enrolled as enumerators. The students were taken to their designated places by around 6 am in the morning on August 19. The students had to seek the information by asking survey questions between 7 am to 7 pm. The students enrolled around 6000 family details in the survey. Later the students were brought back to the university by 2 am on 20th August. After the survey, the data entry of information which was compiled during the ‘Intensive Household Survey’ has started on Thursday. The Rural Development Officer (DRO) requested the students to compile and upload the data collected during the Survey. The authorities decided to deploy 180 computers and 400 students as data entry operators, shift wise to complete the process soon. The timings for data entry are from 3 PM to 11 PM.The students computerized the details of 10 mandals within 10 days. Above incidents show the IIIT student’s dedication towards work. We can believe that IIIT students can serve their nation at any cost and at any time.

n 15th September 2014, our University has been adorned with celebrations of Engineer’s day. Though the day fell on Monday, festivity of the event reached its peak. This day commemorates the most respectable Civil Engineer, Sir Bharatha Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (1861-1962) of Mysore who was well known for his contribution in construction of Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam across Kaveri river which was then the biggest reservoir in Asia built. In fact, his zeal of becoming a Civil Engineer built a way from childhood itself. He was instrumental in protecting Vishaka port from sea erosion, designing an automatic weir water floodgates. For his outstanding contribution and his dedication, he was awarded with Bharat Ratna and rewarded as “Father of Modern Mysore”. With the initiation of the thought from the seniors to celebrate Engineer’s day in our campus, this year with even more enthusiasm and determination, Civil Engg. students embellished the day with various competitions like plantation, MVR Human Chain, Poster Presentations, Rangoli of Palm Island & Visvesvaraya and cultural events. Concerning event volunteers, they have conducted their events impeccably and flawless participation from the students made the events successful.

Winners of Competitions:  Drawing : 1st B101055 2nd B091932, B111538 3rd B101069  Chess : B111360 B111081 Runners : B092381 B101527, B101812  Puzzle : 1st B091899 2nd B091840

The day started with a splendid Rangoli sand art of Palm Island and Visvesvaraya which was dazzling in front of AB-1. Posters presentations regarding civil constructions were placed all through AB-1 & AB-2. After the arrival of Director Dr. Appala Naidu Sir, plantation was done and other HOD’s accompanied him giving us the motto of SAVING TREES. Very soon after plantation, Civil Engg. students made human chain of M,V,R & C,V,L letters as a tribute to Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Adding CVL to MVR made it an eye catching event & students showed much interest in watching it.

Srisailam dam which was exhibited by M. Amrutha, K.Lalitha and Manasa brought a special look to the day . It was placed in front of AB-1. Later at 1 am, on seeing the celebrations of his Jayanti, he showered rain as a sign of tears showing happiness. The most awaited cultural event was held in new mess hall and the arrangements touched the sky. As it is not an open dais, without any inconvenience the event elapsed graciously. It began with the felicitation of Director, followed by faculty felicitation. Cultural activities made this event the most memorable one. New mess hall was fully cheerful with songs, dances, skits, and valuable messages from faculty. Infact students enjoyed most of their day .

Guru Brahma… Guru Vishnu… In our country’s culture, a teacher has been given a place above the Almighty god, right from the kindergarten teacher who taught us to identify the alphabet to the one who was our project guide at our PhD.

T

eacher’s Day is a propitious occasion of felicitating our beloved teachers for their immense support and guidance to bring colours of lightening glow in student’s life. Teachers play a crucial role in developing one’s personality and career. He / She is the one who made us the expert of the subject we are at and have also been the motivational factor behind our success. Teachers have been the light bearers to the students since ages. They have managed to mold the life of innumerable people, in a positive way. By God’s elegance, we, the students of RGUKT have been blessed with ‘Excellent Teachers’. Our Nation entirely depends upon future generations- the students, who are being modified and motivated in their all round development. All the departments were a step ahead of each other in felicitating their teachers on this special day. CSE: The students of Computer Science Engineer ing had celebrated Teacher’s Day with zest and gaiety. The event was famed as TechGuru’s Laurels. The event was organized at Yoga Hall. Our Hon’ble and beloved Director (I/c), Prof. Appala Naidu accompanied by our Student Welfare Officer (SWO), Mr. Bal krishan and Prof. Kanna Rao were the chief guests. It was a heartfelt pleasure to have their presence and their valuable time which brought blossoms of blessings and wishes to the students. The faculty of CSE Department have gathered at one place which was a feast to eyes to watch at that sight. Not only faculty but also Lab Assistants and the HRTs had their bearing to the event. A special appearance by our Placements Officer, Mr. Vijay Kumar has added more enthuse to the fest. MME: On the pleasant evening and in the pr esence of the beautiful crescent moon and a gentle wind, the event Teachers day has begun. The Captain of the MME Department ship, Prof. Raja Gopala Chary Garu attended the event as a chief guest and inaugurated the ceremony. A beautiful traditional song welcomed all the faculty on to the dais. It was followed by honoring the faculty members. The valuable words of Raja Gopala Chary inspired all the students and faculty and they justified the importance of MME Department. Our branch HoD, Ashok Kumar gave a gold mine of information regarding internships, projects and placements. Then there were some cultural activities like dancing and singing. The whole MME branch students were overwhelmed with zeal and exhilaration in the celebration of teachers day event. The success of our event can surely be attributed to the faculty and students who encompassed a great deal of coordination and synchronization among themselves. Finally, the day ended making our teacher’s happy. They have participated in the event very actively, after all it was their day to enjoy and have fun.

CHEMICAL: All the students of our RGUKT celebr ated this day. We, Chemical branch students gathered in a class and celebrated this day successfully. Finally, we had a great day with them. ECE: Teacher s day was celebr ated on our campus by the ECE students of E2 and E3. Being the red-lettered day the event began with rousing speeches by intellectual students. Skillful students played skits and dance performances to entertain the teachers. To be candid, it was the first event organized by the students of E3 and was one of the most eagerly anticipated event of the year. Decoration team decorated the yoga hall lavishly to felicitate and show their deepest gratitude towards their teachers. Students presented mementos to our Honorable Director Prof. P. Appala Naidu, SWO Bal Kishan, Dean of Finance Prof. Kanna Rao, HoD (I/c) of ECE Department Mr. S B. Lokesh, CoE (I/c) Mr. Pradeep Santosh and all the faculty of ECE & EE departments. — K. Sheethal (B101747 - MME) G. Thanmai (B101491 - CSE)

The Student: What are the suggestions that you would like to give to students who will be attending for the interviews in the subsequent years?

A

s you know currently your seniors are going through the TCS placements and we are also trying to get core companies for MME, CHEM, MECHANICAL and CIVIL branches. It is happy to note that written test results are quite encouraging and we are expecting good results from TCS. In the next few years you would also be facing the same. From our side we are conducting mock tests, mock interviews to make you get ready for the real world scenario. But more efforts must be made from students. I would be glad to suggest you few things so that it might help you in your future endeavors.  You must try to overcome stage fear.  Don’t just limit yourself to subject knowledge, go beyond what is there in curriculum and gather a lot of information in whichever field you choose.  Time management plays a key role in almost everything and one should have a clear-cut idea of what to do and when to do.  From second year itself you must start your preparation.  Prepare well for aptitude and reasoning, improvise logi-

cal thinking. Form clubs in your classes and conduct activities like seminars, GD’s and start giving presentations which will surely enhance communication skills and also practice email writing. In third year, concentrate more on your core subjects.  In final year, you can’t do anything, so preplan your time accordingly.  Learning basic things before getting into any internship is a must, so that you not will not have to spend your time in knowing it then.  Opt internships in Govt. sectors where you have the privilege to go and see what exactly is happening (industrial exposure is absolutely essential). And also select project which has wide scope i.e. it should be selected in such a way that you can do research or work upon it later in your M.Tech. Students who have proper planning always excel in their career. Have a clear vision, focus all your thought’s towards it and achieve your goal. All the best.

Their suffering increased as Jammu and Kashmir reeled under possibly the worst floods in nearly six decades, and as the toll in terms of lives, property and crops mounts. The extent of the deluge could be gauged from the fact that some 2,500 villages have been partially or completely submerged. Thousands of people were stranded on rooftops waiting to be rescued. So many people lost their loved ones. Many of them abandoned their dwellings, homes and their properties. They didn’t have food to eat, water to drink, clothes to cover their body and to protect themselves from extreme winter. Floods have washed away everything that stood in it’s way. The question that looms large is whether timely warnings had been issued and were measures initiated to let people take evasive action on time. Kashmir has been buffeted in successive years by serious floods in rivers that have their headwaters in the Himalayan mountain ranges. There was no warning issued before the water levels rose almost overnight along Jhe-

But we, being proud to be an Indian understood the pain, suffering, grievances of our fellow Indians and stood up for the support when they needed us desperately.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special package of 745 crore for the flood victims. All the state governments joined their hands to rehabilitate flood victims and they did what they could. Many benefactors across India contributed and have given their support for the needy people. Many educational institutions brought upon new activities of collecting the money for those who have lost everything. Many more other organisations did the same. Contributions were collected and sent to the PM relief fund. Doctors, students, employees were played the major part it. At last this menace was blown over. Although we have weather forecasting systems to predict such upcoming disasters, with the aid of technology, including real-time upstream monitoring mechanisms and space-based mapping process, have been laid in place, yet we face such tragedies often. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an aerial survey of the scene and termed it a “National-level disaster”. State government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, had a massive task to be tackled for which Government wasn’t ready when the tragedy shattered all over Kashmir. Neither Indian government nor state government allowed any let up in their relief efforts.

Reacting to the problem, we, the students from E-3 initiated collecting funds which may to some extent lessen their pain and give some strength. Some of the students from Civil Department, formed as a group and went to inform all the classes in this regard. Students have also positively responded to this situation and donated money as per their will/to what extent they could give. And in the span of 3 days, we have collected almost Rs 70,736. All this could happen with the support and help of our director Appala Naidu, Vijay (Telugu Mentor) and Sudhakar (DSW). Through the State Bank of India (SBI), we sent the money to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Relief fund.

ISRO saved on fuel by using a smaller rocket to jettison the spacecraft into Earth orbit first to gain enough momentum to slingshot it toward Mars.

Now our country India joined the United States, European Space Agency and the former Soviet Union in the elite club of Martian explorers with the Mars Orbiter Mission, affectionately called MOM. Here’s what made MOM the cheapest mission to MARS till date: 1. The space scientists at ISRO have always been used to working on a shoe-string budget. In its early days, space scientists worked out of an abandoned church near its first launch pad. Later, after India carried out nuclear-weapons tests, other countries refused to share their technical know-how, limiting India’s access to sophisticated technology and relying on indigenous technology instead.

In our campus a success meet was organised commencing the successful launch of The PROUD, LANDMARK MANGALYAN mission by ISRO. Hon’. Director Prof. P.Appalanaidu along with the administration of RGUKT, faculty, mentors and students had a gathering in the ground, reviving the history of the launch, the effort of its team members in total congratulating ISRO people. Starting with the Director everyone spoke about the Mangalyaan mission, how they felt at its success, a mission which made every Indian Proud, gaining applauses from all the other nations in the world. It was actually a great opportunity to share our feelings where in students are given prime importance in dwelling their opinion.

2. For Mangalyaan, ISRO used the technology it has used before, thus eliminating extra costs to develop new RGUKT — Basar

At the Exit, You will pose a question yourself, Am I forgetting to mount up back into my world?

Interstellar Director : Christopher Nolan Screenplay : Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan Producer : Emma Thomas Leading Roles : Mathew McConaughey, Anna Hathaway, Michael Caine

A

fter the Completion of Batman trilogy Christopher crafted Fiction epic movie called “INTERSTELLAR”, and made it as another master piece of his adept theme. Interstellar’s gargantuan gravity pulled the commoners to the theatre, literally. Let’s peek at the movie’s story. Earth has been ravaged by an environmental disaster called ‘Blight’. Cooper (Mathew McConaughey) formerly worked for NASA, who lives as a former with her Daughter (murphy), son, father and with the Blight too. One day Murphy says to her father that a ghost is trying to speak with her by tumbling the books from her shelf but Cooper curtails that by telling there are no ghosts and they are falling down due to gravity and that gravity leads Cooper to the NASA’s secluded research centre with giving coordinates to him. There, a NASA’s physicist Dr. Brand (Michael Caine) discloses Future Earth’s status and about his quest idea for another planet which habituates human life and he illustrates the Plans A & B. Despite of his daughter’s (murphy’s) wish Cooper agrees to travel in the space. Cooper(Mathew McConaughey) leads the crew with Emelia (Anna Hathaway). They ship through a wormhole towards a black hole called ‘Gargantua’ to deliver the details of 3 planets called Miller, Mann and Edmunda, Named scientists names who visited there previously, which are little bit close to our Earth’s condition, were previously chosen.  Have they really picked the new planet for new beginning of human life?  What were the Plans A & B?  How the crew finds the solution?  What measures all the things?  Who resolves the human difficult race on the earth?  Who was the ghost?  Who lead the Cooper to the NASA’s Station?

Nothing Lasts Forever

A

400 page, fast paced, thrilling and a riveting novel which will keep you on the tip of your toes, turning the pages as fast as you can story.

Sidney Sheldon builds a suspense right from the very first page which opens in the middle of a court trial room where Dr. Paige Taylor is being examined on a murder case. The entire story revolves around three female doctorsDr. Paige Taylor, Dr. Kat Hunter and Dr. Honey Taft who begin their five years training at Embarcadero County Hospital in San Francisco. The story, set against hospital and courtroom, chronicles their lives together and their struggle against those who are determined to see that they don’t succeed. The typical Sheldon finale surely will blow your mind because it was the ‘she’s-screwed-and-hopeless’ scene but again he casted his own magic reaching out for the best climax. “You have two choices. you can keep running and hiding and blaming the world for your problems, or you can stand up for yourself and decide to be somebody important.”

You will really adopt the story frame by frame, even the dust cloud couldn’t refrain your focused and glued eyes to the screen. With the same crew, Christopher created a splendid movie. Accolades and praises Gonne be countless for this toiled output. Every penny pays off. RGUKT — Basar
