The School relocates to the corner of Gayton and Ryandale Roads. The original building (Dixon Hall) is now home to the Lower School.

Ronald Messersmith serves as Steward s first headmaster

1972–75

The original gym is built. (Fire damaged the building in 1989).

1977

The School’s inaugural graduation ceremony is held, honoring three graduates.

1977

Steward offers its first summer camp program.

1984

The Steward School Alumni Association is established by Robert Dietz ’81, Denise (Featherston) Dietz ’81, Wyman Smith ’82, and Robinnette (Turner) Wrobel ’83.

1986

Stephen Stackhouse is named Steward s third headmaster; he serves in that ole until 1997 1994

Helen Dixon founds The Steward School in a church basement

A two-room structure is built to house the arts and science departments.

1975

Paul R. Cramer becomes Stewa d’s second headmaster. He serves until 1994.

The Entrepreneurship Pr ogram at Steward is launched.

2017

Steward’s inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame cer emony is held. 2015

Steward receives Field of the Year Award from the Sports Turf Managers Association.

2014

The School’s first capital campaign is launched.

1993

G. Thomas Taylor Hall is completed in 1993, serving as the math and science building.

R 1997 oger Coulombe is named Steward s fourth headmaster; he serves in that role until 2004.

2021

Stewar d launches the Center for Engagement and the Leadership Pr ogram.

2019

Steward celebrates its inaugural Fine Arts Hall of Fame ceremony.

The Upper School is renovated as part of the capital campaign, “Building a Legacy. One Steward at a Time.” 2009

Ken Seward is named Stewar d’s fifth headmaster; he serv es in that role until 2013.

2004

The varsity field hockey team becomes Stewar d’s first State Champions.

2001

Cosby Hall, an addition to Taylor Hall, is constructed.Taylor and Cosby Halls house the Upper School.

1999

1997

An anon ymous $15 million gift r esults in significant renovations to the campus.

The School launches its latest strategic plan (Compass 2022) and capital campaign (Stewar d50).

Dan F rank is named Steward’s sixth headmaster

The state-of-the-art Bryan Innovation Lab is built, and the Visting Innovators Pr ogram is launched.

2007

The Latino Education Advancement Program (LEAP) launches.

2002

The Paul R. Cramer Center for the Arts and Wilton Hall are completed.

2000

The new Athletic Center is constructed.
