An exceptional auction of the favorite fashion icon of the mid1950s, Cissy by Alexander, with superb examples from the private collection of Kathryn DeFillipo, Merle Glickman, and others. 1. Cissy in Lilac Taffeta Afternoon Dress with Original Hat and Lucite Handbag, 1957

20” (51 cm.) Light brown hair with short curly bangs, and arranged clusters of curls on crown and nape of neck. Wearing lilac taffeta dress with double-box-pleated skirt, separate jacket with rolled collar, shaded blue flowers at bodice, pink taffeta can-can petticoat with pink flowers, panties, stockings, shoes, large bowl-shaped lilac opentop woven hat with a garland of shaded lilac and white flowers, pearls, pearl earrings, amethyst bracelet, ring, and Lucite handbag containing a matching floral corsage. The dress is tagged Cissy. Near mint condition, beautiful complexion and hair. Alexander, model 2143, 1957.

2. Wendy-Kins with Rare Coiffure “Dressed in a Charming Frock”, 1960

8” (20 cm.) Golden blonde hair pulled away from bangs into a cluster of curls at her crown, bent-leg walking-style body. Wearing white sundress with rick-rack trim at neck and arms, and a border of lilac and golden flowers with open flaps for holding little clusters of actual flowers,

12” (30 cm.) Ash blonde hair with original curls and curly bangs, aqua hair bow, ninepiece body with bendable arms and legs. Wearing pale pink/lavender sheer nylon dress with flocked polka dots and lace trim, satin lavender sash, nylon undergarment, pink/lavender taffeta petticoat, stockings, cross-strap shoes, double strand pearls, and a wide woven hat with lavish garland of pink rose buds and flowers. Wearing crisp white cotton sundress with blue pansies and green leaf design, trimmed with blue velvet bow and with self-binding armhole edging, white taffeta petticoat and panties, stockings, black wide-band heels, sheer gloves, and pearls. The dress is tagged. Excellent condition, perfect coiffure and dress. Wearing aqua polished cotton shirtwaist dress with pearl buttons, generous Val lace trim, turned up cuffs, white lace petticoat, panties, stockings, black cross-strap heels, aqua woven hat with large pink flower, and pearl drop earrings. Near mint condition, especially beautiful coiffure and complexion. The dress is tagged Cissy. pearl dangle earrings and pearl necklace. Excellent condition of head, hair and costume, faint surface lines on face, wear to composition on lower legs and feet. Madame Alexander, 1938, “Princess Flavia” from her Portrait Series, the doll represented the character from the 1937 film, “The Princess of Zenda”. $1500/2200

Wearing mauve taffeta gown with snuglyfitted torso having zipper closure at the back, flared sequin-trimmed decolletage, full-length gathered skirt with draped tri-color (mauve, aqua, gold metallic) hip sash which forms into a dramatic bow at the side hip, tulle and taffeta matching petticoat, panties, seamed stockings, garter, gold cross-strap heels, and pearl earrings.
