The bisque bust on fancily decorated plinth depicts a solemn-faced young boy with brown sculpted hair beneath a flat-topped cap trimmed with feathered edging and tassels, and with downcast painted blue eyes, closed mouth with outlined lips, sculpted blue jacket with upturned scalloped edge collar and lavender tied neck scarf. All carved wood figure with socket head, depicting a man with sculpted hair, very pronounced hook nose, and having carved and painted large green goggles, with one-piece body, having sculpted and painted yellow suit and holding a carved falcon in his arms. A wooden lever at the back torso allows the head to move sideto-side. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, late 1800s. Value Points: fine detail of carving with amusing mystery features of falcon and goggles, charming simple mechanism, original finish. 154. Early Continental Carved Wooden Doll with Rare Sculpted Coiffure and Early Gown 22” (56 cm.) Carved wooden swivel head with flat-cut neck socket, heart-shaped face and elongated throat, sculpted hair drawn away from face (behind sculpted ears) into ringlet curls at each side of her nape falling from a tightly-coiled chignon, sculpted and painted facial features, blue outlined eyes in defined eye sockets, tinted features, closed mouth, very shapely torso with bosom and tiny waist, sculpted bodice and stomacher, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, especially shapely lower legs, painted red heels over gesso on carved wooden feet, one heel missing. Condition: generally excellent, old re-touch on painted finish of face and hair. Comments: Continental, mid-18th century. 155. Wonderful Victorian Wooden-Framed Paneled Room with Renaissance Styling 49” (124 cm.) w. x 20”h. x 20”d. The walnut framed room with open front is entirely lined with walnut paneling and with a ceiling frieze depicting various coats of arms. Centered in the back wall is a large fireplace with carved mantel and there is a built-in matching wall cupboard on the right wall. Tapestry carpets are scattered on the wooden floor, the room is furnished with a large dark walnut banquet table with various tableware, a round metal stove stands in the corner, and a metal suit of armor stands against the back wall. The room is peopled by two wax headed ladies in silk costumes, and a terra cotta polychromed man with musical instrument. Excellent condition. Early 1800s, an exceptional room with excellent architectural details. $3500/4500

156. Neapolitan Dog with Collar Attributed to Vassallo Brothers 10” (25 cm.) l. including tail. Sculpted lean-bodied dog with defined musculature is posed with his head turned sharply to the side, with shaded brown/cream coloring, enamel eyes, painted facial features, thick brown leather studded collar. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, attributed to the workshops of the Vassallo brothers who were noted for their wooden animal sculptures; it is said that the dogs of King Ferdinand IV were used as models for their works. $600/900
