Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Jumeau (large block letters in cartouche) 1 B. Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1877, the earliest Jumeau signature appearing on his bébés, the model appears to have been issued for an extremely short period of time. Value Points: very few examples of the doll are known to exist, this particularly appealing example in petite size 1, has beautiful bisque and shy demeanor, original body, body finish, original wig with original faux-tortoiseshell comb, earrings, Jumeau chemise, matching undergarments, original dress with brown velvet trim, socks and aqua kidskin shoes signed “1”. 54. Beautiful French Bisque Bébé by Leon Casimir Bru with Signed Bru Shoes 18” (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with pronounced spiral threading, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows with feathered detail, accented nostrils, closed mouth with heart-shaped lips and defined tongue tip, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, kid-over-wooden upper arms, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent, tiny flake at right pierced ear hole. Marks: Bru Jne 5 (shoulders). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1883. Value Points: stunningly beautiful achieved with splendid eyes and beautifully-painted complexion and features, perfect bisque hands, sturdy body, original burgundy silk ensemble (some frailty on bodice), undergarments, bonnet, and leather shoes with rosettes signed “Bru Jne Paris 5”. $14,000/17,000

Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, heavily-modeled eyelids, brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded lips, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, nicely costumed in antique fabrics in the French style, beautiful antique bonnet. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish. Marks: 11 (head) Jumeau Medaille d’Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, from original commissioned sculptural design by noted Parisian sculptor Carrier-Belleuse.
