Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, mauve blushed eyeshadow, lightly-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the shaded outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, kid bébé body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, bisque forearms with defined sculpting of fingers. Condition: generally excellent, small kid reinforcement on upper arms. Marks: A. 2 T.(head and shoulders). Comments: Andre Thuillier, circa 1882, his early kid-bodied model of bébé. Value Points: the rare bébé with exquisite painting and completion, original very sturdy body and finely-sculpted bisque hands, rare petite size, antique lace dress, undergarments, velvet cap, and leather shoes with metal star rosettes which are impressed A.T. 13. 12. Rare Early Wooden Cabinet with Faience Decorations 24” (61 cm.) h. x 17”w. x 7”d. The wooden cabinet with original finish is decorated with a finial border at the top edge, and has a single large door which is decorated with two panels of raised and colorful faience decorations. The decorations also enclose the key hole, and key is included. Excellent condition. Mid-1800s. $1000/1200

Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with delicately-accented lips, pierced ears, kid gusset-jointed body, wearing lovely purple/mauve silk gown with velvet banding, matching bonnet, undergarments, stockings, shoes, gilt cross necklace. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4. Comments: French, circa 1875, attributed to Pierre-Francois Jumeau. Value Points: most beautiful face enhanced by finest bisque, original body in especially wellpreserved state. $2800/3500

14. French Musical Automaton “Little Girl with Surprise Wicker Basket” by Lambert 20” (51 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a bisque-head doll with brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly-parted lips, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette ringlet-curled human hair hand-tied wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, bisque lower arms. A wicker basket with hinged front door is attached to her torso, and when wound, music plays, she turns her head from side to side and then lifts her right arm to open the basket door, revealing a white dove which appears to fly out. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: the charming activity is enhanced by the rich presentation, the little girl wearing her original magenta silk and lace costume and matching silk shoes. $3000/4000

14.1. Early 1800s Etching “ ‘Tis My Doll” in Gold Leaf Wooden Frame 11” (28 cm.) x 8”. Presented under glass in a gold-leaf finish wooden frame with beaded edging is an etched scene of two young girls tugging at a doll that each hopes to own. The doll appears to be an early wooden fully-jointed doll. The etching is signed “Etched by C. Knight” and “Designed by H. Singleton” with the printed name “ ‘Tis my Doll”. Excellent condition. English, early 1800s. $300/400

Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the beautifully-shaded lips, separatelymodeled pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. 17. Important Oberammergau Early Wooden Doll with DowelJointing Neck and Extraordinary Original Costume 20” (51 cm.) All-wooden doll with socket and doweljointed head allowing the head to turn side-to-side, or pivot up and down, slender shaped face with highdomed forehead and strong aristocratic nose shape, deeply-defined heavy eyelids, lips carved slightly open with defined tiny carved teeth, all wooden-body with shapely slender torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, separately-carved posed fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Oberammergau region of Europe, early1700s, although the specific history of this doll remains a mystery, it is certain, based upon the very rare luxury carving of head and articulation, and particularly upon the extraordinary costume, that the doll was created to represent a particular member of aristocracy or royalty. Value Points: perfectly preserved, its costume never removed, the regal doll is remarkably costumed in every detail from the fully lined petticoat to the gold metallic embroidery on both gown and fitted cap, and including the early three-piece jewelry and wooden-heeled slippers. $28,000/45,000

Pale bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate, cobalt blue glass enamel eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, accented nostrils, closed mouth with slightly-upturned lip corners and accented center lip line, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupée body with gusset jointing, antique costume. Condition: bisque excellent, body is sturdy albeit darkened. Marks: Simonne (body stamp on torso). Comments: Maison Simonne, circa 1860. Value Points: the luxury Parisian doll shop presented only the finest poupées, this example having very fine bisque and most unusual endearing expression highlighted by a slight smile. $2600/2900

19. Austrian Enameled Miniature Vase with Portrait of Woman 4” (10 cm.) With painted and enameled finish on metal form, the vase features a scene of 18th century style woman standing against a tree in a windblown scene. Excellent condition. Austrian, late 1800s, rare miniature presentation of the fine enamel work. $400/500

20. Petite French Porcelain Poupée with Cobalt Eyes and Original Costume 14” (36 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid body with gusset jointing at hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (illegible oval stamp on torso). Comments: French, circa 1860, attributed to Blampoix, possibly for Simonne. Value Points: the diminutive beauty has loveliest complexion, soft curls, and is wearing lovely dotted Swiss white voile gown with lace trim, undergarments, leather shoes, straw bonnet, tiny organza purse, gilt cross necklace. $1800/2600

21. Early 19th Century Musical Vignette “Lady at Her Music Lessons” Attributed to Rzebitschek of Prague 14” (36 cm.) x 7” (base). Arranged upon a wooden platform with fauxrosewood finish and painted floral and scroll decorations is a lovely vignette featuring a porcelain-head lady seated at the pianoforte while her music instructor sits nearby, and a little child dances in front. The pianoforte is beautifully decorated in the same manner as the base and each doll wears original elegant costume and is seated on a fancy salon chair. When wound, the lady runs her hands across the keys in a realistic manner while the instructor waves his teaching rod and nods his head in time to the music; the little girl dances and twirls about, and music plays. Marks: original tune label is affixed to the underside listing two tunes in ink script: Cher der Bischofe a Afrikanerin, and Frohliches Weiderschen Walser, and is numbered Zahl 45874 and musik 3766. There is also a pencil script notation with names on the underside. Comments: attributed to the Rzebitschek music box firm of Prague, mid-19th century, whose pieces were notable for their superb music quality. An identical piece (except for decorations and lacking the dancing child) is known to have the Rzebitschek imprint on the comb. Value Points: rare and luxurious parlor music box with intriguing background and very fine musical sound is perfectly preserved. $7000/9000

Bisque shoulderhead with blonde sculpted hair captured in a modeled snood, painted facial features, blue eyes, closed mouth, muslin stitchjointed body, painted black ankle boots, wearing antique gown and undergarment. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1870. Value Points: rare tiniest size of the modeled snood lady, with original gown, posed in front of early Psyche mirror in bracketed walnut frame. $300/400

Solid domed bisque swivel head on kid-torso, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, closed mouth with full lips, blonde mohair wig, peg-jointed arms and legs, painted white stockings and brown heeled ankle boots, original silk dress and bonnet. Condition: generally excellent, reglue at right ankle. Comments: French, circa 1882, the mignonettes were marketed as “poupées de poche” (pocket dolls) in reference to their tiny size. Value Points: rare brown ankle boots, especially pretty face, original dress and bonnet. $600/800

Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sie C 3/0 (head) (eyes also signed Steiner). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1882. Value Points: the rare tiny bébé is notable for its tiny brown Steiner eyes, and has original body with original finish, superb bisque and painting, and most endearing expression. $3500/4500
