OFFICIAL EGYPTIAN EVENT GUIDELINES Horses competing in the 2015 Egyptian Event must meet The Pyramid Society's definition of either Straight Egyptian or Egyptian-Sired/ Bred. It is the exhibitors’ responsibility to ensure all horses exhibiting are USEF eligible (pedigree-wise) to compete.

1. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 2. USEF DRUGS & MEDICATION RULES: Forbidden Masking Substances - Please refer to the USEF for legal equine drugs and medications. Questions should be directed to the office of the Federation Equine Drugs & Medications Program, 956 King Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212-2655, Phone: 800-633-2472 or 614-299-7707, Fax: 614-299-7706 NOTE: Effective December 1, 2001, all anabolic steroids are forbidden in ALL classes in Arabian, Half-Arabian, and Anglo Arabian Division. Drugs and Medication - The Drugs and Medications Rule contained in USEF Chapter 4 of the U.S. Equestrian Federation Rule Book will be enforced. All horses, Halter, Performance, and Equitation will be charged $16.00 per horse to defray the expense of testing. CAUTION: Refusal to submit a horse for examination or to cooperate with the veterinarian or his agents constitutes a violation and subjects the responsible person to penalties under GR406.

3. USEF RULES AND REGULATIONS: EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. See USEF Chapter AR for Arabian Horse rules, class descriptions and judging specifications. Whereas the classes for this competition are restricted to members of the Pyramid Society, all classes will be considered local and will not be eligible for USEF Horse of the Year Awards (GR133). A knowledge of the rules of any sport is required for each participant, and the exhibitor is in no way exempt from this responsibility. A complete knowledge of any compliance with the rules is essential and the exhibitor must be fully cognizant of all the rules as well as class specification in the Divisions in which he shows. It is obvious that however complete rules may be, they can never cover all possible situations which may arise. If a matter cannot be solved by interpreting the rules to the letter, the solution to be adopted by those responsible should lie in a principle which follows as nearly as possible the spirit of the rules. For further questions regarding USEF Rules and Regulations, contact USEF at (859) 258-2472 or www.usef.org.

4. GINGER TESTING: Working with show management, USEF will test for ginger at the Egyptian Event. This stipulation applies to ALL horses shown or exhibited as part of the Egyptian Event. The USEF approved test will be given randomly and administered at ANY time deemed necessary by Show Management. The test is minimally invasive and does not involve puncturing the skin or any other membrane. The test is accurate, sensitive, reliable, and detects ginger and other irritants. Please be aware that the exhibitors are solely responsible for handling their horses in such a way that does not present a threat of bodily injury to the individuals collecting the samples. Ginger or any other substance which alters the horse’s natural tail carriage are prohibited. Any horses testing positive will have titles, trophies, ribbons, and prize money revoked. 5. WHIPS OR ABUSE OF HORSES: Do not use whips or abuse horses in the show ring or on the grounds. According to USEF GR839.5, any action(s) against a horse by a competitor, which are deemed excessive by a judge, Federation Steward, technical delegate or competition veterinarian may be punished by official warning, elimination, or other sanctions which may be deemed appropriate by the Show Committee. Horses are to be treated with respect at all times. Report to the USEF Show Steward, the Show Chairman or the Show Manager any wrong-doing when you see it happen. 6. ADMINISTRATION OF DRUGS: The administration of any drugs to horses unless they are legally authorized and acceptable under USEF rules is prohibited. The use of such is grounds for elimination.

SHOW PROTOCOL 7. CONDUCT: Exhibitors are hereby notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to judges or officials on the part of the owner, trainer, rider or any other attendant, shall be grounds to disqualify the horse, and the management reserves to itself the right to remove a groom, horse, owner, or rider from the show without being liable for compensation or damages. The Show Committee also bears the responsibility to aid judges in avoiding contact with exhibitors or their agents before and during the show. 8. CALL FOR CLASSES: Classes will be called promptly. The 2-minute gate rule will be enforced. Tack changes (3 minutes) will be granted for horses or exhibitors in back-to-back classes only. All requests for tack changes should be given to the paddock announcer at the start of each session. Due to unforeseeable problems with any electrical device, the PA system and class calls over that system must be considered a courtesy. It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to be sure that his horse is at the gate when their class is called. While every effort will be made to keep exhibitors informed, no protest will be upheld nor will any section be changed on the basis of a PA system malfunction alone. 9. SUBSTITUTIONS: Show management reserves the absolute right to substitute a judge or other show officials for any designated in this Prize List. 10. SPLITTING OR COMBINING ANY CLASSES: Show management reserves this right as deemed necessary in order to ensure the comfort and safety of the exhibitors. Proper notice will be posted in the Show Office and barn announcements made. 11. POLICY REGARDING EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES: The Pyramid Society reserves the right, in its sole discretion and judgment, to cancel or alter the Event described in this agreement in the event of any occurrence beyond its control which, in its opinion, threatens the health, safety, or wellbeing, of the horses or participants. In the event of such cancellation or alteration, the recourse against The Pyramid Society shall be limited solely to a refund of any exhibitor’s fees previously paid to The Pyramid Society. 12. INDEMNITY AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE: Neither The Pyramid Society, its officers or directors, nor any of the sponsors of this show are liable for any personal accidents while on the show grounds, personal injury or damages done to any owner, handler, groom, attendees or damage to horses exhibited or for any equipment or kind that may be lost, destroyed or in any way damaged at the show.

STABLING INFORMATION STALL RESERVATIONS & ASSIGNMENTS: The trainer or individual who reserves stalls is responsible for payment. If you wish to be stabled with or near a specific group, stall reservations must be sent in together. First refusal will be given to exhibitors who wish to reserve all the same stalls (with no additions or subtractions), under the same name as in the previous year, provided the reservation and payment are received by the March 16, 2015 Priority Deadline. If you request additional stalls, please indicate the requested number on the reservation form. If additional stalls are not available in your original location, indicate whether you prefer the additional stalls in another location, or whether you would like to move to a location that can accommodate your entire stall request. Second priority for stall requests will be determined by the postmarked date of requests received with full payment. The Show Manager handles all stall assignments. Verbal stall reservations will not be accepted. No gifting of stalls. Stalls are the property of The Pyramid Society. Stalls can be held and loaned to others, as long as the farm holding the stalls is still exhibiting horse(s) in the Event, and decorating all of the stalls. The year after a farm has not exhibited horses, they must relinquish those stalls and they revert back to The Pyramid Society. Large blocks of stalls may become available from time to time and The Pyramid Society will try to keep these blocks intact. The stalls will be assigned by request and their assignment is the sole discretion of Show Management. Past participation at the Egyptian Event as well as previous stabling location will be factors in determining the new occupants. In an effort to meet all exhibitors’ stabling needs, and to maintain flexibility to accommodate changes in stall requests, stabling assignments will not be given until arrival at the Egyptian Event. PRICING (for horse and tack stalls): A) $220.00 Premium A Stalls - grassy sides of Barns 1 & 5 B) $195.00 Premium B Stalls-other sides of Barns 1 & 5, all of Barns 6-7 C) $170.00 Standard Stalls - all other stall locations.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES: Stall charges (horse or tack) cover the period Monday, June 1 through Saturday, June 6, 2015. All stalls must be vacated by noon, Sunday, June 7th. Late departures will not be accepted. The Pyramid Society has successfully negotiated with the Park to waive early arrival fees for anyone wishing to arrive by Thursday, May 28th to begin decorating their stalls. However, if those stalls contain horses, tack or supplies prior to June 1, early arrival fees of $62.00 per day will incur. Beginning on Sunday, May 31, 2015, staff will be available to accept horses daily between 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. If a later arrival time is required, special arrangements MUST BE made with the Show Manager: Cindy Reid, Phone: (805) 610-9079 or e-mail: cindyreid@aol.com STALL DECORATIONS: We encourage ALL exhibitors to decorate their stalls. As in the past, premium stalls are required to be appropriately decorated. Stall doors and fronts may be decorated, but should be done in such a manner that each horse stabled within can be seen by anyone, at all times. NOTE: No holes may be drilled, cored, or punched in any KHP facility without prior written approval by facility management. This includes the stabling area. No staples, nails or screws are allowed on eaves and/or ends of the barns. Competitors wishing to display banners or curtains must build a structure independent of the barns. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Electrical extension cords may only be used in accordance with the Fire Marshal Rules and Kentucky Horse Park regulations. (See page #22 rule #39) Every horse entered in this show must be stabled and shown from stalls provided by the Kentucky Horse Park. Horses will not be permitted to show that have been stabled off show grounds for any reason, except with the written permission of the Show Manager. Stalls are 10’ x 10’ boxes with Dutch doors or sliding doors. The Pyramid Society would like to remind exhibitors that all barn aisles are “common ground” and should be treated as such, giving due regard to fellow exhibitors. Fire regulations require that all barn aisles remain open and accessible by emergency vehicles AT ALL TIMES.

The Pyramid Society will make every effort to accommodate members within these guidelines.

EXHIBITOR CONDUCT

FOR PARTICIPATING AT THE EGYPTIAN EVENT PLEASE:   



 

Treat horses with respect at all times. Report to the USEF Show Steward, the Show Chairman or the Show Manager, any wrong-doing when you see it happen. Present horses without makeup, dye, heavy oils, grease or artificial appliances which distract from their natural beauty. Any horse(s) suspected of such will be examined by the Show Manager, USEF Steward and the Judges. If in their majority opinion this rule has been broken the handler will be asked to remove it. If not, they will be excused. (See page #15 rule #13) Show horses with natural eyelashes and no balding. There must be visible hair around the eyes and muzzle. A smooth surface anywhere on the face or around the eyes with no stubble is grounds for elimination. (See page #15 rule #13) Respect all Designated Parking Places and park accordingly. The Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police will have vehicles towed that are parked in unauthorized areas. Conduct yourself with good sportsmanship and fair play towards fellow exhibitors, judges, and spectators -- win, lose, or draw.

PLEASE DO NOT: 

  

Use whips or abuse horses in the show ring or on the grounds. According to USEF GR839.5, any action(s) against a horse by a competitor or an exhibitor, which are deemed excessive by a judge, Federation Steward, technical delegate or competition veterinarian, may be punished by official warning, elimination, or other sanctions which may be deemed appropriate by the Show Committee. Use ginger or any other substance which alters the horse’s natural tail carriage. Any horses testing positive will have titles, trophies, ribbons, and prize money revoked. (See page #9 rule #4). Administer any drugs to horses unless they are legally authorized and acceptable under USEF rules. The use of such is grounds for elimination (See page #8 rule #2). Take horses off the show grounds until they depart from the show, unless otherwise authorized, in writing, by the show manager.

AND FINALLY…

Please do not sit in anyone’s seat but your own in the Covered Arena. THESE GUIDELINES ARE TO BE FOLLOWED IN THE FRATERNAL SPIRIT OF THIS ORGANIZATION AND WITH RESPECT FOR OUR TREASURED HORSES.

JUDGING AND SCORING SYSTEMS FOR THE 2015 EGYPTIAN EVENT

2015 Egyptian Event Judging will consist of a four judge rotational panel for all halter classes. Three will be judging at any given time and one will be monitoring for rule violations. The three judges selected for each class will judge the entries in center ring. The fourth judge will be empowered to assign penalty points only. We ask all exhibitors to be mindful of USEF AR107.1.f which states, “only the horses "on deck" shall be allowed to prepare for its presentation to the judge(s).” Preparation shall include controlled circling and positioning the horse for presentation to the judge(s). The only shanking allowed shall be limited to an unruly horse in order to regain control. All other exhibitors must remain relaxed within the ring or they shall be penalized. NOTE: “EXHIBITORS MEETING FOR OWNERS & HANDLERS" Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., Covered Arena In-gate: This meeting will provide an update on changes for the 2015 Egyptian Event. All owners and handlers are encouraged to attend. —————————————————

MODIFIED EUROPEAN JUDGING & SCORING SYSTEM (*E) (*E denotes Modified European Judging System in the class schedule) The MODIFIED EUROPEAN SYSTEM (*E) will be used for ALL Futurity and Open Straight Egyptian classes, as well as for Egyptian-Sired Futurity and Open classes, except for the Junior & Senior Straight Egyptian Championship classes as well as for the Egyptian-Sired Championships. In the event of a tied score, the tie will be broken in the following order:

      

Type Balance, quality and substance at the walk Head Neck and shoulder Body and topline Legs and hooves Movement

If the Tie is still unbroken, the Call Judge’s card will break the Tie. Numerical Scoring Indicators: The score for each specification will be from 1 to 20, with 0.5 increments. 1-3 4-6 7-8 9-11 12-13

Categories and descriptions are as follows: TYPE, BALANCE, QUALITY AND SUBSTANCE AT THE WALK, HEAD, NECK & SHOULDER, BODY & TOPLINE, LEGS AND HOOVES, MOVEMENT

Multiplication factors are as follows: Type ···························································· x 5 Balance, quality and substance at the walk ·········· x 4 Head ···························································· x 4 Neck & Shoulder ············································ x 4 Body & Topline ··············································· x 4 Legs & Hooves ··············································· x 4 Movement ···················································· x 4 TYPE (X5) - The ethereal qualities that defines a Pyramid Society Egyptian Arabian Horse—beauty with utility, strength with elegance, are combined with balance and harmony. Refinement and quality are seen in the fine coat with thin black skin, large lustrous eyes, prominent tear bones, expansive nostrils, alert ears, clean strong limbs with dense bone—a horse whose features seem to have been chiseled from the desert rock. A highly intelligent horse, all senses acute, spirit, nobility and courage reflected through innate charisma with a distinct affinity for humans. Free, impulsive, natural ease of movement and obvious agility, exhibiting a vibrant personality crowned by high tail carriage. Particular Attention to be given to the 5 Hallmarks of Type: Head; Arched Neck; Short Back; Comparatively Level Croup; High, Natural Tail Carriage. BALANCE, QUALITY AND SUBSTANCE AT THE WALK (X4) - The horse should be nearly as tall as he is long, suggesting balance, elegance and agility. Due to capacity to carry foals, mares may be slightly more horizontal. From the side, the body appears to be almost evenly divided into three compatible and working parts: the front to the withers, the midsection, and the hindquarters. Except in its degree of beauty, the Arabian horse does not reflect a collection of extremes; each part contributes to the balance of another, and all provide a look of elegance and symmetry. Quality is that ethereal value that can be seen in anything of great worth. Quality is manifested in a high degree of type, athletic ability, intelligence, and character. Ethereal beauty, strength yet refinement, elegant carriage, cleanness of limb, fine coat and skin, prominent veining, desert dryness and overall balance and harmony all reflect Quality. As a complement with balance and symmetry, quality, as an ethereal value, should be pleasing to the eye. Substance includes dense, flat bone, smooth muscling, prominent spring of rib, depth of heart girth, and width of chest and hindquarter, all of which contribute to quality and athletic ability. Substance suggests comparative strength, agility, speed, endurance, and athleticism while giving the perception of the ability to perform tasks with little apparent effort for extended periods of time.

HEAD (X4) - Comparatively small in relation to the horse. Triangular or wedge shape. Large, dark expressive eyes wide set and low on the head, fine muzzle with large, vascular and capacious nostrils, large round jowls wide between the branches. Broad forehead may have a bulge or “jibbah” leading to a concave or straight, but never convex profile. Long mouth, delicate, firm lips, correct bite. Well set, chiseled, alert, thin and flexible ears with defined tips, curving inward. Finely veined skin, prominent tear bones and overall refinement contribute to the extreme beauty. The head is pleasing to the eye and reflective of the beauty, harmony, spirit and intelligence of the desert Egyptian Arabian horse. NECK & SHOULDER (X4) - Neck arched like that of a palm frond. Flowing from shoulder to head with well defined throatlatch and supple poll. Curve of neck behind poll or “mitbah” matching curve of the detached pliant throat. Trachea of size for proper wind capacity and endurance. Neck length in balance and harmony with the rest of the body. Proportional, elegant, muscular with a clean attachment at both withers and chest. The neck emerges highly from the shoulder, is carried proudly and easily flexed. Shoulder long, well laid back at approximately 45 degrees, well muscled, allowing free moving, ground covering motion. Point of shoulder or wither set high and the arm more perpendicular with the elbow set forward from the girth, providing ample scope for movement and an easy, reaching stride. BODY & TOPLINE (X4) - Combining form and function, substance and beauty. Refined, yet strong with a broad chest, deep heart girth and well sprung rib cage allowing for large lung capacity. Viewed from the side exhibits a short topline and long underline with withers higher than the croup. Short back, well muscled topline and broad, strong loin leading to a long, level hip in symmetry with the depth of shoulder and depth of barrel. Comparatively level croup with high set, straight tail. Croup more horizontal when in motion and raising tail. Viewed from behind a balanced, muscular hip and thigh support a well muscled full croup. Balance and symmetry reflected in the build for endurance, speed and agility. LEGS & HOOVES (X4) - Should reflect balance, strength and refinement while proportional to the horse’s build. Egyptian Arabians often give the impression of “standing over a lot of air”. Harsh desert environment produced clean, straight legs of dense, solid bone that is never coarse. Large, well defined, flat joints with clearly visible, finely hewn ligaments and tendons. Well muscled forearms and gaskins longer than cannon bones. Bony column free from deviation, straight and strong. Short cannons with defined tendons. Pasterns of moderate length, elastic with approximately the same degree of slope as the shoulder. Longer from hip to hock than hock to ground. Stifle should clear body to enable broad range of free movement. Hooves round and generous size with wide heels and strong walls. Hooves should all be matching angles based on slope of pastern and shoulder or gaskin. Representing a legacy of strong, correct, functional legs and hooves.

MOVEMENT (X4) - Bred for speed and agility the Egyptian Arabian should be capable of “dancing across the sand”. Fleet of foot, light, with powerful often animated motion. Rhythmic and cadenced, with a long, ground covering stride exhibiting power and purpose. Impulsion from behind driving the airy suppleness up front. Movement should be sound, straight and true at all gaits and reflects the assumption that the Egyptian Arabian horse is an athlete capable of use for one of many varied performance activities. Equal consideration should be given to all styles of athletic movement. A proud bearing, high nobility and innate energy should be obvious as the horse animates to move. —————————————————

NATIONAL TOTAL POINT JUDGING SYSTEM (*N) (*N denotes National Total Point Judging System in the class schedule) NOTE: For all classes judged using the National Total Point Judging System, any horse appearing 1st on two judges’ cards will automatically be placed as the class winner. The remainder of placings will be assigned by total points. Three judges from the rotational panel will rank their horses, assigning a point value from 1st place (10 points) to 10th (1 point). In the event there are fewer than ten horses in the class, 1st place will receive the amount of points equal to the number of horses in the class (i.e. class of six horses, 1st = 6 points, 2nd = 5 points and so on.) The points of all judges’ cards are totaled and the horse with the most total points is 1st, the horse with the second highest total is 2nd, and down the line. In the event any horse is 1st on the majority of cards it is automatically placed 1st regardless of the total of points. The horse with the highest total after the 1st place horse is 2nd and so on. In the event of a Tie of points, the Call Judge's placement breaks the Tie. Amateur Halter and Junior to Handle Halter classes, three judges from the rotational panel will place the Champion, Reserve Champion, and Top Ten to be announced in reverse order. This includes the Golden Scarab classes which pay out the Top Five places. Get of Sire, Produce of Dam, and Most Classic Head classes will be judged by three judges from the rotational panel with a call judge. (See page #79 for additional information on changes to the Most Classic Head classes beginning at the 2015 Event.) Egyptian Breeders’ Challenge Classes (ATH), Three judges will be selected from the 4 judge rotational panel. A Top Ten will be announced and placed and then a Champion and Reserve Champion will be announced in reverse order. The sire and dam of the EBC yearlings will not be announced until after the horses are judged. Egyptian-Sired Championship Classes, see page #71

SINGLE JUDGE SCORING SYSTEM (*S) (*S Denotes Single Judge scoring system in the class schedule) PERFORMANCE CLASSES will be adjudicated by a single judge. The horse with the highest total score will be named Champion, the horse with the second-highest score will be named Reserve Champion, etc., until the Top Five have been chosen.

NON-AMATEUR HALTER CLASS SPECIFICATIONS MULTIPLE HORSES PER HANDLER ARE ALLOWED FOR FUTURITY AND STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN CLASSES. (Note: This guideline excludes EBC, other specialty classes and Amateur Halter classes, where a horse is to be handled and shown throughout the entire class by only one and the same person.) A substitute handler may be used if, during a class, the original handler becomes ill or is injured. Time allowed for the change of handlers should be in accordance with USEF GR833. A suitable head stall equipped with throatlatch is mandatory. Excessive use of the whip or actions that may disturb other entries shall be penalized. No item may be used inside or outside the ring while showing a horse except one whip per handler. The whip must be no longer than 6 feet including the snapper or lash. According to AR106.3, a small appendage at the end of the whip, such as a small piece of plastic, is allowed. These rules will be enforced. CLARIFICATION OF RUNNER: A runner must be an Exhibitor. An Exhibitor is any person who holds, walks or trots a horse in the completion arena. Every Exhibitor is required to sign an entry blank and must be a Federation member or pay a Show Pass Fee. FUTURITY CLASSES: In these classes all horses will enter the arena and then exit before re-entering individually, from oldest to youngest, for judging. (NOTE: This provision also applies to EBC classes in 2015) ALL OTHER NON-AMATEUR HALTER CLASSES: Horses will enter the arena and, based on the number in each class, the show manager will determine whether they remain in the arena for judging, or exit and are individually brought back in for judging. HALTER CLASSES ARE NOT USEF RATED AND WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS POINTS ACCUMULATED THROUGH USEF

RING PRESENTATION & CONDUCT The method of entering the ring and pre-judging evaluation will be as per the USEF Rule Book, AR116.6.1, In the Ring Class Procedure, for all halter classes except all Yearling and 2-Year-Old Futurity Classes and 3-Year-Old Extended Specialty Classes (see following specifics).

HOLDING PADDOCK CONDUCT The holding paddock area is only for those horses exhibiting/entering the class being called. No horse in other classes will be allowed in the holding paddock. According to AR114, a small appendage at the end of the whip, such as a small piece of plastic, is allowed. Use of a “rattle can, or bottle may be allowed. The Steward has the right to deem any accessory as unsuitable, if it affects the safety of those involved. Please use extreme caution with horses and other exhibitors. All activity to animate the horse MUST take place in the designated holding paddock. NO activity, such as running the horse on any roadway will be allowed. Only the horse entering and the horse on deck will be allowed the use of the attendee and accessory for animation. All other horses are to remain quiet and at a safe distance from the entry gate. ADMISSION TO THE RING At the discretion of Show Management, order of entry into the ring may be predetermined for any class. In all Breeding/In-Hand/Halter classes, a posted order will be produced listing the entries by birth date, oldest to youngest. All entries will enter the ring in age order and be judged in the order they enter the ring.

CONDUCT FOR ALL HALTER CLASSES (exceptions noted)

All halter horses should be brought into the ring at the trot on a loose line. Judging begins when the first horse enters the ring. From the moment the horse enters the ring its movement is being evaluated and scored. The horse shall enter at a trot, and at the handler’s discretion may either proceed directly along the rail, or trot a counterclockwise circle at the ingate end of the arena and then proceed along the rail to the far end of the arena. Upon each horse reaching the designated position at the far end of the arena they are to remain relaxed. The judges will then ask for the next horse to enter the ring. When all horses have entered the ring the horses shall be asked to walk collectively counter-clockwise and/or clockwise past each (and all) judges. They shall walk in a relaxed manner on a loose lead with the handler at the side of the horse whips down. The lead line must maintain a discernible drape and the handler must not place his hand on the chain or close enough to in any way restrict the natural head and neck motion. The handler may not unnecessarily impede the forward motion of the horse while at the walk. Following the cessation of the walk, all horses shall relax within the ring. In the age order of entry (oldest to youngest) to the ring the horses will be judged. Only the horses “on deck” shall be allowed to prepare for its presentation to the judges. Preparation shall include controlled circling and positioning the horse for presentation to the judges. The only shanking allowed shall be limited to an unruly horse in order to regain control. All other exhibitors must remain relaxed within the ring, or they shall be penalized. There can be NO contact of the whip to the horse. ANY contact shall result in elimination by the judge. Each horse shall be led to the judges at the walk and presented for judging. In order to satisfy a proper presentation to the judges, horses should stand correctly, bearing weight on all four feet (not stretched), in a quiet and deliberate manner. Following the evaluation by the judges, horse shall walk away from the judges, and then strike a trot before turning left and proceeding counter clockwise down the rail. They shall resume their relaxed position at the end of the arena. The scores for all categories will be completed and recorded.

All class entrants having exited the arena will remain in the holding paddock until called to re-enter the ring to be presented to the judges. Each horse from oldest to youngest will re-enter the ring at the walk, and proceed to a designated point on the rail to await judging.
