Controversial street photographer Scott Reyes and others will be showing a pop-up exhibit entitled, “Buckshots LA” at the Regent Theater on Winston and Main. Reyes who is known for taking some of the best urban photos of DTLA with or without permission may have encountered some dangerous peril exploring the underground tunnels of DTLA or while high on roof tops but his efforts just earned him an article in LA MAGAZINE, so he must be doing something right. JOSEPH LEE “B O Y at the grown-ups table” Acrylic 36x48in I am a self-taught Los Angeles based painter. Growing up, my family couldn’t afford to send me to art school so I did the next best thing which was to just work on my own. Having moved to Los Angeles 4 years ago to pursue an acting career, I didn’t know exactly to how mend both of my interests in performance and visual arts. I found that through the art of portraiture. I was able to incorporate my fascination of human behavior with different mediums to capture the complexities of the human face. My work bleeds between realism and the abstract. I believe most of us live our lives somewhere within that space. I’ve been blessed to show my work throughout the city as well as recently winning the Golden Award at the Landmark building in New York’s Chelsea district. In terms of future goals, I don’t really have one. I follow my mother’s logic, which is to “keep your head down and just work!” FMI: Josephleeart.com

“It affected every bit of who I am, and a lot of the visual images I was faced with back then stayed with me. Interior anatomy is something everyone can relate too but also something that is personal and can make us very uncomfortable because it reminds us of our own mortality. I like that. It affects people, and there is comfort in realizing that we are all just thaese meat machines running around, not knowing what’s going on, but somehow convinced that we do.”

“I’m a third generation Angeleno, so the city and all its different facets are a big part of my day-today inspiration. I have been drawing, painting, and crafting as far back as I can remember.”
The heart is the great equalizer that most people connect to, but for very individual reasons. The full emotional spectrum—love, hate, vulnerability, strength, connection, life, death, pleasure, and pain—can all be recalled just by looking at the heart. To Korsen, it is the most powerful symbol.
Korsen’s Great Uncle was an illustrator for the LA Times and her Aunt dabbled in art, but creativity wasn’t really valued or encouraged in her family as much as more stable and traditional pursuits. She never considered art as a real career option or something she should study until she found herself immersed in it and realized she wouldn’t be happy doing anything else. So she dove in.
Korsen is currently on year three of a residency at The Hive Gallery, but she’s also shown all over Los Angeles—in galleries such as LabArt, Gabba Gallery, Copro Gallery, and many others as well as group shows in Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, and New York. She also had her art displayed at Brighton Sussex Medical College in the UK and was featured in a show in Frankfurt Germany that focused on art in Los Angeles. One piece was chosen as the design for the Frankfurt Artwalk poster that month with pictures of her work on posters throughout German shops and clubs.

In 2012, Korsen said she was starting to feel trapped in the small gallery/pop-up scene so she started putting up stickers of her LA Heart image. The attention they got was instant and caught her off guard. She quickly progressed to posters, then installations and murals.
n 2004 she moved to an artist community in Northridge called Das Bauhaus. For years she was there, part of a constantly-evolving community of artists and musicians that at times felt like family and at times felt like a frat house. It was exactly what she needed and it was while living there that she started seeing herself as more of an artist and gained the confidence to show some of the art that she had been creating.

‘Night On Broadway’ took over downtown LA for its annual freeto-the-public street bash on the last day of January this year.
For its annual ‘Night On Broadway’ event, downtown LA polished Broadway and lit up its seven famous theaters ONCE AGAIN for the first time in 50 years. Thousands of Angelenos rammed Broadway’s closed-off street and sidewalks, and enjoyed 5 hours of moonlight partying complete with food trucks, performance artists, galleries, flash mob, and free haircuts.

His raw talents were given form and were later matured at the Cleveland Institute of art.

GREG GOULD `“ODDBALL!” Medium: Oil on Canvas Dimensions: 30”x40” 1998 I was born in Los Angeles on March 1st, 1976. I really started showing my artwork back in 1996 - that’s when I started putting art in coffee houses, had my first gallery show in Pasadena, and when I got my first commissioned murals. I’d learned how to use oil paints when I was 13, and from that point it became my favorite medium. These days, however, I have been experimenting with more than just ‘painting’ - everything from 3-D wall hanging mixed media pieces, art videos, and sculptural lamps from mannequin parts. I’ve also been publishing cartoons since 2012. Mainly, I just try to let my creative process evolve and see where it leads. Sometimes ‘experiments’ work, sometimes they fail big time. My work has been shown in galleries from Sydney, Aus., Seattle, Pasadena, and in DTLA. I have been a founding resident of The Hive Gallery since doors opened in 2005, and I have worked with various organizations to make art that has been exhibited at Coachella Music Fest., The Epicenter Music Fest., The Natural History Museum (L.A.), and monthly at The Hive Gallery. Currently, I am collaborating with ‘Designspillz’ & the City of L.A., to make a public piece of art - a painted utility box. I hope to launch my ‘stratosphere project’ this May. With this project, I will launch action figures of ‘Captain Kirk’ & ‘Dr. Spock’ into the stratosphere, shot in HD. Once I retrieve them, I will make art pieces of both figures, and show them with a video of them hovering at the edge of space. FMI: gouldeyecandy.com
