Nelson water restrictions The City of Nelson would like to remind residents to restrict their watering use, as follows: -Water every other day only. Premises with “even” numbered civic addresses may sprinkle on “even” numbered days of the month (ie: 2nd, 4th, 6th etc) and premises with “odd” numbered civic addresses may sprinkle on “odd” numbered days of the month (ie: 1st, 3rd, 5th etc). -Water in the early morning, before 10:00 am, or early evening, after 6:00 pm. -Premises with underground sprinklers should have the system checked for leaks and the timer set to only give the lawn about one hour worth of water each week. -Ensure that water does not overspray onto sidewalks, driveways or roads. By reducing peak demand, we reduce our impact on water supply, distribution infrastructure, treatment infrastructure and on the environment. Due to the rapidly diminishing snow pack and the low volume of rain to date, the City may need to implement more restrictive conservation measures should the current warm weather trend continue. Those not following the watering restrictions may find a yellow Lawn Flag appears on their lawn as a friendly reminder from our Water Smart Ambassador www.cbt.org/watersmart/nelson

Opinion&Editorial My Opinion

by Spencer Pollard

Weaving Words

As a writer, it’s my duty to supply some sort of narrative to these articles. Generally I try to accomplish this, although it usually ends up being a bunch of ideas strung together to form a cohesive article. But how do I come up with an idea every week? Well, I start by looking at the news. I look at anything that piques my interest or anything that might seem like a subject that doesn’t require a ton of outside research. I research everything I write about, but because of the limited

amount of space I get each week, I can only fit in so much information. Next, I brainstorm my intro as well as what points from the subject that I’ll write about. Finally, I write an “outro“ such as this, where I tie everything together and make it a cohesive whole. At times, I feel like I succeed and other times, I feel like it needs some work. Thinking of a topic every week can be challenge, especially when you run the risk of repeating yourself. I’d like to think I accomplish this every week. Whether or not that’s the case, is your opinion.

Spencer Pollard is a young man living in Nelson BC with an interest in digital arts and writing. His ideas are of benefit to all of Nelson, and to stroke his abnormally large ego
