Artifacts unearthed Proof Vikings co-existed peacefully with Sinixt Nelson Commons project may be permanently halted

Kootenay Co-op General Manager Deirdrie Lang holds an unearthed artifact in white gloved hands Crews at the Nelson Commons construction site unearthed the unexpected yesterday, when they came across some unmistakeable artifacts. Workers were excavating at the base of the New China wall to blow on the “shotcrete” and install the metal framework that will “shore up” the building site’s periphery to ensure it’s all stable. They unearthed what appears to be Viking artifacts, possibly several thousand years old. All work on the Nelson Commons

project has had to cease while scientists from the University of British Columbia, Viking Department travel to investigate. Dr. Thor Forseti, who arrived at the Castlegar Airport at midnight last night, is quite excited at his preliminary examinations. He speculates that these Vikings may have migrated from the communities already unearthed in Canada at L’Anse Aux Meadows. In the meantime, Kootenay Co-op staff are considering permanently halt-

ing the Nelson Commons project, which included many prime downtown residential units and commercial spaces. “We are considering replacing the entire project with a Viking Theme Amusement Park at the site instead,” says manager, Deirdrie Lang. “We think this could be a real tourist draw and boost our downtown economy.” An emergency Board meeting will be held on April 1, 2015 to discuss the matter.

Nelson Police Reports Arrest for disturbance On Saturday, Mar. 24 at 3 p.m. staff at the convenience store on Ward St/Baker St called the Nelson Police Department to report an intoxicated male harassing and threatening customers. NPD members attended but the male fled before they arrived.

He then came back after they left to search for him. This time he was seen hitting cars as they passed by and yelling at the drivers. He ran away when members approached and was chased down by several pedestrians and the police. He was arrested without incident nearby. The 30 year old local male was held until sober

and released with a court date to answer to charges of causing a disturbance and resisting arrest. He is forbidden from consuming liquor and going into the downtown area until he appears in court. submitted by the Nelson City Police

Identity (How to Get it When You Don’t Have It)

Stop me if I’ve said this before (or don’t as I don’t always have original ideas for the articles.). There is a time in our lives or rather multiple times in our lives where we struggle to find our place. It can be a crisis of faith, or it can be simply trying to get out of a dead end job, we all have had

these questions. Looking inward is the first step. Look at your hobbies and interests as well as skills you have acquired over time. Another great tip is to take time away from whatever responsibilities that keep you from pursuing these interests, if possible. By doing this it will give you the time you need to

reevaluate your goals and hopefully get the opportunity to pursue your interests. Your career is a large part of your identity. It can be the accumulation of all your skills and interests or it can be just a way to earn a paycheque. No matter how hard it may be, ultimately, it’s up to you.

Spencer Pollard is a young man living in Nelson BC with an interest in digital arts and writing. His ideas are of benefit to all of Nelson, and to stroke his abnormally large ego

Survey&Editorial Don’t be fooled into fear

T h e government and big media By Nelson Becker have been endeavoring to make us afraid, and yet, the world today is much better than it has been ever. With exceptions, there is less poverty, there is more literacy, there are many fewer people dying in wars, and fewer children are dying before the age of five. Yet, we’re made to feel afraid. There are reasons why the

world is getting better. One of those reasons is the success of the social movements of the 50’s, 60’s and up until the present. It’s important to realize this, so that we who work towards creating a better world, realize that we have been highly successful. With the feeling that we have been highly successful, comes the feeling that we can make a difference. So, take heart, have courage and continue to work towards positive change!

Let’s make Nelson the leading alternative energy user in the province! Heck, in the country! geothermal greenhouses solar gardens electricity powered cable-car Run completely on a renewable energy other than hydro. Solar, wind, other.. Free, secure Wifi, anywhere. An understanding of climate change, what we are up against and how we can all work together to make this the world we want I pray for an end to Homelessness. If our city could come together to eradicate Homelessness as few other cities on this earth have done , I believe that we would all sleep better at night and feel better about ourselves and the contributions we make on this earth for the short time that we are here less yoga studios

legal It would be great to have Baker Street off limits for all but emergency vehicles. And nobody should be penalized or prosecuted for possessing marijuana. Marijuana should obviously be legal here. The government should pretty much stay out of peoples’ business. We should be a zero waste city. Repeal all moral (victimless crime) laws.
