who we are Established in 1986 as a resource centre for dance professionals and the public in British Columbia, The Dance Centre offers a range of activities unparalleled in Canadian dance. Our goal is to support the development of dance and to nurture an environment where it can thrive. We offer programs and resources supporting dance artists, present performances and events, manage Scotiabank Dance Centre, Canada’s flagship dance facility, and work to promote dance in BC.

The Dance Centre was created to be not only the physical centre for the dance profession in British Columbia, but also its public and emotional heart. Our role within the dance community is to provide infrastructure in the form of resources and studio space, as well as artistic leadership. To the public, we are the face of dance; to the dance profession, we are the voice. We love watching live dance in your space. There’s an intimacy you don’t feel at other venues. The calibre of dancers you bring in is phenomenal. We love being surprised by performances. Fabulous productions at an amazing price, by far the best deal in the City. Kudos on your programming. – Audience comments The Dance Centre’s presence, programs and support services have been an integral part in the development of my career and sense of community in the Vancouver dance landscape. – Dance artist
