AgapeFest wouldn’t be AgapeFest if one day the rain decided to take a vacation on the first week of May, and this year was no exception. Four inches of rain couldn’t stop an estimated 4,000 people from stomping their way through foot deep mud pits to listen to their favorite bands play. I had the opportunity to once again be the school’s photographer for AgapeFest and wanted to share some of my photographs with you.

ast month, the Blackroom Café started advertising for a contest. It was promoted as the Singer-Songwriter Contest. Anyone could enter, whether music major or not. It was a month long process of elimination, with three nights of performances, allowing the audience who attended to vote for their favorite performer. After two weeks of performances, performers bringing both their own and other’s works to the stage, four musicians were left for the finals. The audience would be the deciding factor, and the winner would receive not only a $150 gift card to Guitar Center, but also a chance to perform on the Slospeak stage during Agapefest. For a musician, this a wonderful opportunity, a chance to show off their talents and perform in front of hundreds of people, some coming from as far as Michigan to attend this annual christian music festival. Musicians Jenna Jackley, Israel Wignall, Joshua Webb and Taylor Steele were the last four standing at the end of a long month of musical competition. That night, each contestant performed two of their own songs, bringing all that they had to the stage. The genres and talent varied as Greenville’s Blackroom Café was livened with beautiful music. At the end of the night, the Blackroom staff tallied up the scores that had been submitted by the audience. With Josh Webb as runner up, Jenna Jackley was called to the stage and announced the winner of the Blackroom Café’s first SingerSongwriter contest. Amid applause and cheers, the smiling Miss Jackley accepted her prize as first place winner from contest host Clayton Jones. Later on that week, Jenna performed live on the Slospeak stage at Agapefest. Both her friends from Greenville and festival comers from all over were graced with her music that Saturday morning on the festival grounds. Great job Jenna!

Is your group not pictured here? The Vista staff would like to have a photo of every group, organization, or club in the every year in the spring editon. However, we need your help in order to make that happen. Please send a high quality photo of your group to the Vistual Editor of The Vista or Professor Jessa Wilcoxen. The Vista will also have a photo session where you can bring your group to get their picture taken. A dade for that will be sent out next spring.
