The organization keeps this in mind with everything it does, including the products and services it offers. Moya’s mission is to deliver innovative, competitive financial services to help members achieve their financial goals. On top of that, the credit union strives to make a significant contribution to its communities and the environment.

Bee the change

Honeybees play an important role in the environment, and Moya is proud to be part of this element of nature. In 2019, the credit union launched Moya Hive, a honeybee program. Moya members loved the idea: honeybees and beekeeping are essential parts of Slovenian culture and the environment we live in. These incredible little creatures remind us of the importance of working together, and one of the much-loved elements of Moya Hive is that members feel like part of the community and join in when Moya’s professional beekeepers come to maintain the hives. Because of the pandemic last year, Moya hosted two virtual workshops. Members also purchased hive products – honey, soap, and candles – with all proceeds going back to the community.

Moya is proud to help make our planet better

In 2020 Moya took a big step to reduce its business’s carbon emissions footprint by choosing environmentally responsible electricity from Bullfrog Power, a Spark Power company. Sustainability targets are set as one of the long-term strategic priorities at Moya Financial. By managing the environmental impact of its activities, it will continue to work in harmony with its communities and challenge itself to improve energy efficiency and act responsibly toward the environment where its members live, work, and play.

Growing for the future

In 2021, Moya Financial partnered with Tree Canada to support Tree Canada’s National Greening Program. The program targets regions across Canada that need reforestation or afforestation (the creation of new forests) as a result of human activity or other causes. In addition to restoring forests and wildlife habitat, trees planted through the National

Greening Program contribute to cleaner air, healthier soil, and cleaner waterways. To kick-start the partnership and Moya’s new Youth Accounts (one of that product’s features is a tree planted on the account holder’s birthday each year), Moya Financial has donated $2,000 toward the program (that’s 400 trees!).

Building sustainable partnerships

As Moya creates new financial products and services and crafts its marketing promotions to let everyone know about them, the credit union carefully considers who it chooses to partner with. Teaming up means mutual benefits related to sustainability goals. Moya’s partners align with its values and need to be in sync with the credit union’s brand values. No matter what service Moya is looking for, there is almost always an option that is costcompetitive and high quality, but doesn’t come at the planet’s expense. In the past, Moya has included products from companies it believes in, such as Alvéole, EtobiGrow, Sprout Pencils, YETI, Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC), and many more.
