Energy USA

FOREWORDOnbehalfofall

EIC Connect Energy USA comes at a pivotal time in the US energy industry. The approval of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) by the US Congress and its subsequent approval by President Biden represents a major opportunity for the ongoing development of the clean energy sector in the country. With up to US$369bn of incentives to the wind, solar, nuclear, CCS as well as hydrogen sectors, the IRA has unlocked a wealth of opportunities for the energy supply chain in the US.

The oil and gas sector remains a driving force in the country as producers are urged to increase output in order to curb rising prices. US LNG export projects – which alone account for US$220bn of CAPEX in EICDataStream – are now under the spotlight as the Biden administration seeks to help European countries reduce their reliance on Russian gas.

Much has changed since the last EIC Connect Energy USA in 2021: while clean energy sectors are experiencing quick growth as a myriad of capital-intensive projects and ambitious government funding programmes are announced, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has laid bare the energy security dilemma faced by many countries dependent on Russian oil and gas. The US, as the world’s largest oil and gas producer and one of the leading markets for renewables and clean energy technologies, is ideally placed to capture opportunities presented in this dynamic environment: the country currently has a 1,300-project pipeline demanding US$1.2tn in capital investment.

Clean energy, meanwhile, is the rising star in the US energy market. While the onshore wind and solar PV markets continue to expand and capture an increasingly larger share of the country’s electricity matrix, emerging segments such as offshore wind, battery storage and green hydrogen are now attracting massive investment from established renewable energy developers as well as IOCs looking to diversify their operations. Offshore wind alone now accounts for US$108bn of investment in current and future projects, while energy transition sectors including clean hydrogen, energy storage and carbon capture currently accumulate US$184.1bn in projected CAPEX.

delegates as we come together to identify opportunities across the energy value chain in the US.

We are honoured to be joined by speakers from some of the major players involved in regional projects.

The question of how to reduce the carbon footprint of oil and gas operations remains central to O&G activity, however, leading operators and contractors need to invest, innovate and collaborate on solutions to deliver projects and meet supply challenges.

3

The conference sessions, as well as revealing what products and services the regional operators and contractors are looking for, address the rise in renewables, greening operations, and how the industry is adapting through new strategies to drive opportunities across the energy value chain.

Please see the programme on page 8 for the full list of speakers.

WhileDecarbonfuse.wehave a lot of work ahead, I am confident that deals will continue to be signed and activity will increase. For now, though, I wish you all a highly successful EIC Connect Energy USA.
